”I know.” He answered back. He felt like his eyes were dry, there was no moisture left for tears. He held Malea again, comforting himself in her. ”Tomorrow will be better.” He called out into the world, willing it to happen.

”Tomorrow will be better.” She knew it would be. Tomorrow would be the day she told him. There was no reason to rush.

It was the reassurance that Kalpana needed to hear. ”We should rest. There will be plenty to take care of.” he told Malea. He gathered her into his arms again, another long hug before leading her to their room. He would hold his soon to be wife and drift off to an uneasy sleep and in the morning he could deal with the rest of the world. There was a lot he had held off on today, knowing that his parents would take precedence, but he couldn’t put off life for much longer. Malea couldn’t pick up all of the slack on herself.

Malea rested against Kalpana, feeling every bend and cranny of his body and sinking into it. Whatever he needed, she would be there for him. She closed her eyes and felt her tears start up again, this time silently as she thought of Kalpana’s parents. She knew deep down that this was the outcome of the search, but she hoped that at least finding them was a better alternative to never knowing what had happened to them at all.

Kalpana let the tears fall onto Malea’s hair as he thought again of his parents, floating into the night. The next chapter of their life started here. It was just the two of them, through it all…
