We don’t have wifi. It was the absolute truth, and Whisler couldn’t help but snort, shaking his head. “I know. Sometimes I think about going to therapy.”
Honestly, he hadn’t ever wanted to say it out loud, or…really had thought about it too much but. Now that it was out?
It sounded like a good idea, and not just because he was impulsive. Looking towards the door, he hesitated. “...Do you think we should look in on him? It seems like something just happened…”
He didn’t like the fact that their son was doing this alone, even if he had asked for it…but.
“I’m sure he’s fine. It…feels better? If that makes sense.”

Maybe Nick would have felt better being able to talk to a therapist–get whatever he needed off his chest, talk to someone who was responsible and wouldn’t try to manipulate him. Help him feel more comfortable in his own skin and find life easier to enjoy.
Newgrange would support him in anything and everything.
“I think that’s a good thing to look into as well. Maybe just to see if they’ve got any good suggestions.” He squeezed Whisler’s hand but before he could say more, the door to the room opened and Starlight stepped out.
He wore a pleased smile, though as always there was something a bit reserved about him. He was always a bit careful with his emotions, though he’d warmed up considerably since he’d moved in with them.
“Sorry,” Starlight said quickly. “I hope I didn’t keep you waiting for long.”
His hair was a little messy, like he’d had to deal with the wind whipping around for a bit. He was unharmed, and more than that, happy.
“I think I got everything taken care of.”
As he approached, he tilted his head back to admire the steady glow of lights. “I need to make sure I shut off the lights before we leave but I think I did it? Everything looks calm in there, and the Code settled down. It wore me out a little but it wasn’t bad.”

Whisler felt a warmth rising in him as Newgrange didn’t scoff at the idea, and when Starlight reappeared, he looked at the young man with absolutely nothing but pride and love shining from his eyes. “You didn’t keep us waiting long at all. I knew you could do it.” This. What they had. This family...it was everything.
“I am so utterly proud of you, Starlight. Your wonder is beautiful, you are.” He paused and shrugged. “Nah. You’re beautiful too. You shine as much as your name does. Now…” Reaching out, he took one of Starlight’s hands and one of Newgrange’s.
“One more Code Piece to fix up. Then we can all go home and have a good rest and breakfast. I’ll make french toast if you guys want. I think we have some strawberries still in the fridge.”
…If Leah hadn’t eaten them.
