“Those plants, like the ones in the greenhouse I have, collect energy…or rather these little plants will. The darkness, the dark crystals down here, have mutated them in ways never before seen as far as I know.” As he doubted anyone else was as interested in plants as he was, he didn’t think anyone would tinker with plants as he did, and to have come up with what he had. It was impressive and he was certain no one had done it before.
“No, we’re going to walk to where we’re going. I don’t want to teleport to a place when I don’t know if anyone else might be there. My office no one would be in - it’s safe.” Nodding his head as he spoke, offering the other a hand. “I’m glad you like my office, it serves it’s purpose while also being comfortable.” Though he still sat on his legs in that chair rather than sitting properly…something he never actually did. It was the one area where he lacked manners, even if he tried to hide it as best he could at events.
“I’ve bought things for my office over time, changed things as I needed, all out of my own pocket but now we get paid so it helps.”

“Wait… so they do the same thing I do but without me getting caught by senshi? That seems really useful.” It would definitely have helped in his situation given how messed up his magic was and how it really hadn’t helped when he’d been caught out while draining. Just in case he stepped a bit further away from the plant in case it decided to try draining him.
“I can understand that, it’s better to go somewhere where you know what’s going on than showing up in the middle of something. Spending time here would be nice too, it seems quieter than I expected but to be honest I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect either.” Taking in a bit more of what he could see, he then moved towards the door so they could head to wherever next.

“Yes, but I’ve not sent them out into the city yet. I’m going to be doing that soon, but with help, I have a greenhouse full of plants already grown.” A near jungle of a greenhouse filled with all manner of plants. “Some that don’t flower have taken to flowering even, a rather interesting mutation to be honest. If it weren’t something likely connected to the darkness here, and the energy gathering they do, I’d put in for a new type of plant but I can’t.” But in his mind it still counted - he’d still created new plants.
“I didn’t know what they were doing till I found myself nearly unconscious due to them. I had my office overrun with plants and it was rather unsafe.” So they’d had to all be moved where it was safer, for everyone, because he was certain at some point they’d have started draining people walking by his office. No need to enter his office to give a free energy donation to the Negaverse, just walk by his office and you could donate unwillingly.
Nodding his head he went to open his office door, peeking out slowly. “No ones around, we can head down to the training area.” That didn’t mean no one was in their office, he felt signatures around, but no one was out in the hallway. “I like to think my office fits me as will your office once you get yourself one. Until then we can come down here when you want, spend time in my office, it’s rather peaceful in here. I do spend time here reading…I used to read down in the rift as well, though that is a bit harder to do.” As the other would learn when he went down into the rift, with protection.
Heading down the hall, having motioned the other to follow him, he kept to an easy pace as he walk. The slight heels of his boots clicking on the floor as he moved.

Following the other down the hall, it felt very dull in a way. Door after door was closed and there really wasn’t much going on in the area. More like an office building than a castle. He’d visualized it all a bit differently so it left him just a bit disappointed but once he had his own office he’d figure something out for himself maybe. Though he didn’t know if he wanted yet another place to be tied to outside of his shop and Alexandre’s home.
“Going to the rift is not on my agenda if I can avoid it, I’m not really sure if I want to deal with more of those youma. Chalcanthite must spend a lot of time there though given all the notes he gave me regarding the area and what he’d figured out about Aoede’s magic problems.” Kafka kept his voice down as he spoke, moving in closer to Beni just in case someone decided to appear since teleporting was something he figured most people did once they were able to.

“You’d be safe with either of us, being generals we can command most of the youma around. The greater youma…those no one can command. Perhaps our Queen can but a General King or General Queen I don’t believe can.” He knew he couldn’t even though he’d helped revive one. “I helped revive one though…” He whispered, keeping his voice low. “General Wolframite and myself won a drinking game and both of us won a piece of the greater youma in order to help revive it. I gained a memory from it…a small snippet.” Looking at the other as he spoke, shrugging a bit. “There was a bar down in the rift…the youma had it. I hear the way has been blocked now though.”
So General Wolframite and himself had drank themselves under the table here, in the Kingdom, to determine which of them had won in the past because they couldn’t remember. He’d won this time though the hangover had not been worth it - not at all. And he’d remembered the past hangover and wondered why in the hell he’d gone for a do over against Wolframite. It had been so damn stupid of him.
As they continued walking he took to sticking his hands in his pockets, casual and at ease down here. He’d walked these halls so many times over the years…he knew this place like he knew his own home. “Some of us spend a lot of time in the rift, or have, I did spend a lot of time down there myself. I still know my way around fairly well. But I’ll do my best to keep you from that place…but there might come a mission where we’ll be down there…where it can’t be helped.” As they got closer to a training room he found himself glancing over to the other, his hands sliding out of his pockets, and stretching his arms.

“Maybe one day then, but not for a while. But with both you and Chalcanthite, just in case. I’d rather not become a snack for one of those things.” Even if the one that had grabbed him hadn’t gotten to bite into him, he still wasn’t over the whole thing yet. It would take time for youma to not leave a sour taste in his mouth. Hearing about even greater ones, ones that didn’t listen to generals didn’t help their case either. The mention of a bar had him tilting his head in confusion. “A… bar..? Like with alcohol?” Shaking his head he laughed a bit as they reached the training room door. Out of habit, he knocked on it before opening it. Nobody was in there, which was good at least. He hadn’t met anyone else in the Negaverse other than Chalcanthite so he wasn’t really sure how most of them thought about a senshi with broken magic.
“Well if it’s a mission I would hope there are many others there so it would probably mean I’d be less likely to be singled out too. Safety in numbers sort of thing.” Just like in the riots it was easier to hide amongst the crowd than to stand alone against things.

“Yes, a bar with alcohol…and dirty water and vinegar. I figure I’m lucky I managed to teleport myself home in one piece with how drunk I got.” He was lucky he managed to make it to bed, somehow, and not just fall over somewhere. “The place was run by the youma…I remember a very drunk General Queen attempting to sing….she was screaming and some cardboard cut out in her arms. I think my memory of that, of the details, are a bit shot.
Pushing the doors open, rather than knocking or waiting, he stepped inside and went about letting removing a few layers of clothing. His cape, and the coat it was attached to, were dropped to the floor with ease and he stood there rolling his shoulders. Still in several layers of fabric he took the time to glance about the space.
“If a youma comes for you, ever, in a situation like that. Throw someone else at them and get to someone you trust. I’ll introduce you to Wolframite at some point…he’s part youma but was the General who taught me many things. I hold more respect for him than most.” And even though they were the same rank he’d still take orders from the other, without much question or thought on the matter. The other had him when it came to experience and knowledge and he knew it, and respected him for it. “He’s my size actually, though maybe taller now but only because of the wolf ears he has…” Stretching as he summoned his weapon from thin air. It was a familiar weight and the practice swings came easy to him, making his weapon look light almost. Turning to face the other, smiling.
“Right now I think we should work on reaction time. I’ll go slow but I want you to work on avoiding my weapon. Knights have weapons, not like we do, but they have them. You need to learn to avoid them, even if most use magic with those tinker toys they carry about, some will hit you with an item instead. Some also use makeshift weapons…pipes and things.”

“Oh… that sounds disgusting. How do you even teleport while drunk? I thought you had to be able to focus and since I’ve never seen you drink really I figured you might not be one to handle it. The rest sounds like a normal night at a club even if the people or things there weren’t normal.” Laughing a bit as he watched them drop layers, that wasn’t exactly what he’d expected to see.
And like that, it seemed things were starting. He knew he should have let Katya call for backup but he’d acted without thinking it through. It could have gone a lot worse if Beni hadn’t shown up so he’d listen now and make sure he had a backup plan. But the mention of someone being part youma felt almost wrong to him. “Part.. youma?” But he didn’t get to finish his question as that weapon came out.
It made him tense a bit, that smile fading as he watched the blade. He’d have to pay attention if he didn’t want to turn into a pin cushion. Even if they went easy on him by going slow, that didn’t make a blade duller. Nodding, he shifted his weight between his feet as he got ready to move.

“Trust me, I can’t handle it. I’ve only drank twice…that night and a rematch against Wolframite a few months ago. Neither time went very well, even worse in the morning, and teleporting is a matter of focus…it gets easier and takes a bit less effort with time and experience.” Which he thankfully had on his side, both times, so he’d not gone and botched up teleporting. “Worse is that I don’t take medications so the hangover was far worse.” Since he’d had to deal with it and just hydrate himself, enough that he kept having to use the bathroom.
“Yeah, some officers are part youma. They were human…and something happened to them. Wolframite was punished for betrayal and changing sides. He came back and decided on this form of punishment - he’s happy with it. Others wind up that way against their will, by accidents and other things.” One person who had been half youma, against their will, stood out to him. He did wonder if they’d found peace with it, but also he didn’t care either. He was simply curious.
“I’ll keep from teleporting, for now, it wouldn’t be fair at all.” Approaching slowly his weapon held loosely in a gloved hand, down at his left side. It wasn’t until he was close that he brought up the weapon and swung. He kept his movements easy to track for the other, he wasn’t aiming to hurt the other after all. He just wanted to teach, Rene needed to learn and what better way?

“I know medications make you sick but that sounds like a fate worse than hell. I rarely drink enough to be hungover… though you’ve seen it once at least.” That first night he’d been drunk and concussed before waking up hungover while still having a concussion. It was no wonder he didn’t remember much of it all.
Paling a bit at the mention of it being punishment, he noted that away in his mind to not mess up and have that happen to him as well. Overall it sounded terrible, to turn into a monster but he didn’t know enough outside of some base things he’d read. Chalcanthite spoke of youma but not in the same way, more as things to watch and listen to but to distrust as needed. It all depended on what you were it seemed.
“Okay, no magic no teleporting.” Stepping back just a bit as they got closer, he dodged to the side as the spear came up. At least they were keeping their word at being slow but it was a bit awkward to move with all this hair. The sound it made though, he wasn’t sure if he liked the fact they could really pack a punch if they hit him with it.

“I wished for death the morning after, when I woke up, and I really did question why I’d decided to challenge Wolframite the second time. The fact I won was a surprise, he can handle his drink better, I think I just didn’t care and drank far too much.” He was lucky he hadn’t been in a hospital from it, people could get that drunk right? He was certain they could. He was also certain it was not on his record anywhere that Lorcan could find. Though maybe not that first time…since it had been a mission. Well Lorcan had never mentioned it so he was safe - right?
“Yes, I have seen you hung over once, not nearly as bad as me, but a good thing to avoid either way.” Even as the other ducked to the side he was talking, able to keep a conversation going while wielding his weapon. He was good at multi tasking like this, it wasn’t so hard really.
Another swing, this time his hands shifted and it was the heavy back end of the spear he was aiming with. “Magic might hurt you and not me…I’d rather not see you sick from your own magic. That takes away from this.” He also didn’t feel like being sick himself, that was one thing he didn’t like being - sick.

It sounded like the normal morning after a bender, to be honest, but he still couldn’t really picture the other doing that. With how small they were it was a surprise they hadn’t gotten alcohol poisoning. This time he didn’t quite get all the way out of the way and he was right, it hurt more than he figured it would when it glanced off his arm. It hurt to the bone and he cursed a bit while moving back a few steps.
“True but maybe using it a bit more might help too. But I really don’t like the getting sick part either. Though last time… it was more what I saw that caused it than my magic I think.” Even thinking about the mess beneath the bushes made his stomach churn. Maybe another time he’d try things out, and get more of a feel for his magic if he could. As detailed as Chalcanthite’s notes had been they were from an outside looking in sort of view. They hadn’t been the one experiencing the issues, just the one who looked for ways to fix it.

He had thought the other would avoid it! Cursing under his breath he moved in close to inspect the other’s arm. “You might bruise, I have something for that.” Because he had not meant to hurt the other, he never would, but even with him keeping his strength in check he knew it was going to leave marks.
“That is likely true, if you want to use it you can.” Nodding his head slowly, hoping it wouldn’t be a bad choice. He just hoped it wouldn’t affect the other, he could handle it he was certain, he’d dealt with worse magic. “You’ll need to get used to using it, especially once we solve the problem of it not wanting to work right.” Touching the other’s cheek gently. “I trust you and your magic.”

“Not like you would be able to see a brush much under all my ink at least. I’m okay.” Pulling the sleeve of his uniform up hurt but the skin hadn’t broken. The hit had just hurt, like when whacking his elbow on the corner of the counter at his shop. It sucked but that was it. It was weird how quickly the other went from seriousness to worry but it made sense. When it came to strength here, he was the one who was fragile.
Thinking about things as they were this close now, he nodded back as they touched his cheek. It was nice that they trusted his magic because he certainly didn't, at least not yet. But he did want to use it just a bit as payback for the hit, even if it wouldn’t actually hurt them. Pulling his hands up to his mouth, he mouthed just one word, swallow, before letting his arms fall outward and to his sides. That feeling came, just like a rubberband being stretched and snapped back but it wasn’t as bad this time. Instead of vomiting, he stumbled back a few more steps toward one of the tables and sat on it. It felt like he’d been run dry of energy and almost a bit hungover because there was that cotton ball taste in his mouth that came when he woke up after drinking too much.

“Can’t be seen doesn’t mean it’s not there.” Rolling his eyes at the other, poking gently at the others inked up skin. “That’s like walking around with injuries and just because you have clothing on over it, so no one can see it, that you’re ok.” Like when he tried to hide injuries, especially in the past, he didn’t try as much now because he didn’t need to.
He heard the word, a single word, and he knew to brace himself for whatever magic would do to him. He was almost hoping it would work as it should, it would be a plus on the others side, and when he felt himself being drained of energy he knew it was working. There was nothing else around to cause the sudden feeling of energy leaving him. Blinking he looked over to the other. “Looks like it worked, I doubt I could manage the teleporting I normally can right now.” Actually he knew he couldn’t, not when he felt this drained and he felt tired, like he wouldn’t mind sleeping for a bit.
“’Useful magic to have, I’ll take that backing me up in a fight.” or rather he’d let Kafka open up a fight with it before moving in to finish things. If his magic could leave people feeling like this it was beyond useful and he was glad to have the other at his side, now to get his magic working right.
