There was a strange little flutter in his heart when Evie stepped closer to him, shielding them both from the sun with his parasol. Obviously he was close since the parasol was only so big, but--
Oh, he could see very clearly the pretty blue-green of Evie’s eyes. And the way his cheeks were a bit flushed. Maybe from the sun? Reims was sure he could use that excuse for himself.
They were so close, and never before did Reims have the urge to lean closer to kiss someone until that moment. Especially not a boy.
He cleared his throat and smiled, but didn’t step back. He couldn’t… There were too many things he’d done that he doubted Evie would forgive him for so easily. He would let the guilt eat away at him until there came a chance to tell him but…
Not now. Not when he looked so happy like this.
“I think it all suits you, too,” he flashed a grin, even if he felt like he didn’t have the right to be so friendly with Evie. “It will be my honor working beside you, Yvoire, Squire of Ganymede.”
