Revna watched as their home came into view, the girl gesturing for Talisia to follow her to the main room while her far and brother went around the back area for the kitchen. “Will Silva be okay carrying some belongings?” She asked, looking towards the raptrix with curiosity. The creature was always by Tally, the raptrix protective of his partner but never vicious towards any of the family and seemed so gentle compared to others. Though Revna had never really seen Silva in action before since she was just at the sanctuary as a visitor, never witnessing Talisia when she was fighting or taking care of something dangerous. Unlike the Ild’vann it looked like her older cousin relied more on trade and rarely ate meat like their family so she didn’t even know if they hunted at the sanctuary.

Talisia found her steps slowing as they approached the cottage. Even though it had been years, the sight of one familiar building made her heart race. This….this was the place where the groundskeeper had lived. She had gone here once or twice before with her father when exploring the grounds before his passing, Talisia remembering those days more fondly before being locked up within the manor. The mixture of feelings brought a hand to her chest, the hybrid pressing against her heart as she swallowed back the emotions. This was definitely an experience, showing her how things currently were in comparison to her memories of the place. At least the groundskeeper had been a warm soul, one of the few that were kind towards her and Kian before being forced to leave by her mother in those final years. “I didn’t realize this building still stood.” She murmured quietly before blinking at Revna’s question, the hybrid nodding. “Silva will be fine.” She reassured her, the raptrix already pressing against Talisia as he recognized her distress and bringing her focus back. “We should work on loading him up since they’ll be moving Zyphire’s belongings from Coro.”

Zyphire lingered for a moment, watching Talisia and Revna from the corner of the building before finally taking those final steps into the backyard where he whistled for Coro. He had to have faith that she would be alright, this was for the best so that she could finally face her past with this area. So for now the Shifter focused back on teh task at hand…making lunch. “I brought back quite a few things. You sure you don’t wanna stay home and enjoy my cooking for a season?” He teased his son as the dark gray chiavi circled around and finally landed with Støv next to him. The pair of chiavi looked nearly identical save for the white tipped feathers spotting along Coro’s body, his chocolate colored gaze the other contrast to his daughter’s vibrant blue eyes. Thankfully Støv had also inherited the mother’s personality, her patience with Ziya and the rest amazing in comparison to Coro’s playful antics as a younger chiavi. She needed that patience as well, considering how much trouble they could cause over the years.

“Good job.” Zyphire rubbed the area just above Coro’s beak and praised him before moving to start unloading his travel bags, the Shifter always bringing a variety of things home from his winter travels. “Here’s some spices, care to line them up on the counter? Bring up some vegetables and get out the cooking bowls, I’ll work on that once I get the rest.” He looked towards Ziya, handing over a bag and knowing that the bottles had labels so his son wouldn’t be confused if he tried to guess the colors.

Ziya watched as the chiavi landed, the teen giving Støv a gentle pat on the side before going to join his father so that they could sort through everything together. “That’s a lot of spices.” He replied with a grin. “But I won’t be swayed, I have a lot of things to learn instead of shoving food into my face every day.” No matter how delicious the cooking was, Ziya was determined to not be tempted. So he took the bag, going into the kitchen and lining up the bottles by the labels that his father had added to each. He would keep them all out for now and at least they were in order, the easier to put up into the cabinets once Zyphire was done cooking later. Then he went into the cellars to drag up the root vegetables that had survived the winter, the baskets looking emptier by the day and making him thankful that spring was finally here. He would never forget that one extremely harsh winter when they had to rely on dried meat scraps and whatever the hunters managed to bring in between the constant blizzards that rampaged around Zena that year. While he knew that they had things significantly better than his ancestors it was still worrisome to see any food supply dwindling and so he was thankful that the seasons were changing once more.

“Are you…” Revna had started before closing her mouth and swallowing the rest of the question. She wasn’t like others who would press to share emotional things together and simply waited for Talisia to resolve things on her own. Instead of lingering on the questions about why Talisia seemed hesitant to approach the house, Revna focused on bringing out their bags and sorting through them so that the lighter bags could be added to Silva’s load. “I can add the rest to Coro when they’re finished.” She advised as she studied the pile, pushing Ziya’s belongings over so that he could add them to Støv when the time arrived after lunch. “Did you need help unloading anything? I know you’re not staying the night, but did Far make you carry anything?” She asked quietly, looking at Talisia as she tried to ignore her own worries about the older hybrid. What could have possibly upset her? It was rare to see Talisia looking vulnerable like that and for once Revna felt a tinge of concern.

Talisia cleared her throat, trying her best to shake off the feelings that threatened to overwhelm her. “I brought some ointments for your family, in case you needed them for anything.” She managed after a moment, forcing herself to move so that she could take a bag from Silva. “Other than that he only has travel necessities so there’s plenty of room for him to take a bag since you’ll be flying on Coro.” This was a different time, a different place now, so surely she could handle this. She forced herself to look past the memories that ran around like children holding onto their father’s hands as they walked around the yard and looked over the gardens that used to grow here. Not that much could grow in the colder months but there were some snowberry bushes and the like that gave some life to the yard when her father was alive. And then when he was gone it all fell into ruin, the back fields ignored with only the front of the estate tended to keep up appearances for the important guests from the council. Some of the bushes had been revived, but now there was a small garden there that she assumed was Zyphire’s doing for a variety of herbs and vegetables that he could grow during the warmer months. “Your home is nice.” Talisia managed after another moment, realizing that she had been staring once more when Revna took the bag from her.

“Alright.” Zyphire gave Coro another pat as he took the rest of the supplies, the Shifter handing over a treat for the chiavi before sending him back up into the air and using the gesture to fly forward. “Go find Revna.” He called out, his wrist rotating as he made the symbol for flying around. He trusted the chiavi to land in the front yard where he assumed his daughter and cousin both still were looking over things. Once that was done, Zyphire took the rest of the bags and dropped them in the kitchen to be unpacked properly later. For now he had all the cooking tools that he needed and as Ziya brought up more supplies from the cellar the Shifter began to wash and chop up all of the vegetables. “Take these and rub them onto the meat together, in that bowl there.” He instructed, leaving Ziya with about four of the bottles for a variety of spices. “I’ll add some dried herbs as well once the spices are rubbed on.” If there was one place that felt especially confident then it was the kitchen where Zyphire was a natural at making anything flavorful, the Shifter already having the vegetables properly chopped up and salted for the water that was bubbling in the large pot on the stove.

Ziya watched his father move around like a whirlwind in the kitchen. He had taken up some cooking himself, but still lacked that level of skill that his father had achieved over the years. Already he had the oven on, the water boiling for the curry and the vegetables disappeared into pieces under his knife within minutes. All he could do was support the meal by taking the chunks of meat that were left in the cellar and rubbing them with the spices, the teen smacking them with a mallet to try to soften the meat as well beforehand. “Okay, meat is ready.” He followed along, gathering the used bowls and dropping them in a wooden bucket so that he could begin washing them to save time later. “So this is Talisia’s first time visiting. I’m surprised.” He commented after another moment as he watched his father focus on the meal.

“I have this bag then.” Revna offered, helping to secure it on Silva so that they could fly out as soon as the meal was finished. Thankfully it wasn’t bulky so that the raptrix could still rest while they enjoyed the meal, Revna watching even as Talisia offered some meat from her supply bag to the familiar so that he would be refreshed after this break. The comment about her home made her frown but she decided to not worry about it before simply nodding. “I’m glad you think so. Aren’t you familiar with this area?” She shook her head before giving a slight shrug as if saying to ignore that question. “We did our best with it and I think everyone enjoys life here.” They were thankful, so she could only hope that things weren’t wrong with Talisia now that she was finally visiting them here. Not that she had much time to worry about feelings, especially when both chiavi came from the backyard and landed next to them so that they could begin loading up the bags. Revna worked silently, separating her supplies from her brothers and tying them to both chiavi accordingly. And as Talisia fed Silva, so did Revna feed the chiavi, preparing them for their journey south.

Talisia made certain Silva was settled, the remaining bags tucked away on Coro and Støv who had both landed shortly after, and then as the familiars ate the hybrid glanced around once more. “I’m glad.” She replied quietly before smiling towards Revna. “Maybe I should listen to more stories about this place and your childhood here. I did live here once, but I prefer to focus on your lives here. It might help me to shake off the past since it’s strange to see this place without remembering my own life here.” She admitted before the sound of the door opening and Ziya calling out that food was nearly ready caught her attention. “Sounds like we’ll have to save those stories though. Food is calling us.” She smiled towards Revna before urging her forward, Talisia focusing on the meal as a distraction. It was probably for the best since even though she wasn't certain she was completely ready to reflect on things just yet, the delicious aroma of a meal was far more appetizing than dwelling on the images that haunted her whenever she looked around the yard and nearby fields. It would probably be a long time before she dared to go directly into the town where the manor once stood, but at least this was a small step forward as she finally had come back to the place that once terrified her. And maybe on the journey to the sanctuary the stories from Revna and Ziya could help her to focus on the positives of the area, preparing her for her return visit in the future whenever she came back once more.

That was a quick hour. Zyphire shook his head as he poured the curry over a bed of rice, the Shifter having rushed through everything to make certain the meal would be served in time for them to enjoy together before departing. “Thanks for the help, Ziya.” He acknowledged the help before his son went to bring in the other two, Zyphire preparing places for everyone else if they made it in time to join them. Surely they would be home soon, right? He could only hope since it would be nice to share a meal with the family before his oldest and middle child departed for the season. “Shoo, Tiki.” He gently nudged the parak from the table, offering her an unspiced bowl of meat as a treat while he finished preparing the rest of the plates. Thankfully all of his tools were in place so nothing had taken long to sort through and now there was a meal prepared for everyone to enjoy together, Zyphire looking forward to swapping some stories and hopefully easing Talisia’s worries about the place before she left once more.

“Come on!” Ziya grinned as he gestured for the other two to join them, the young beast tamer showing Talisia to her place at the table and taking a seat for himself. “We should get settled before the others show up to devour everything, it’s been a while since we’ve had something like this.” Not that they didn’t have decent meals on their own, but there was a level of flavor that his father always managed to accomplish that beat out the rest. Ziya was more than eager to begin eating, just talking with his family as he listened to Zyphire talk about their winter months while sharing tales about what they had done this season up north as well.

“Hmm.” Revna simply rolled her eyes at her brother’s enthusiasm though the smell of food did make her own stomach twist eagerly. Not that she would show such a thing, of course. The teen took her time sitting at the table, pouring a glass of water as they waited on others to join them. Once this meal was over then she would be gone for a few months, enjoying time at the sanctuary while her brother learned what he could from Talisia. She could only hope that it would be somewhat quiet at times, Revna preferring to hide away more than deal with the flood of relatives and friends that would come through that way on occasion. Still, she did want to travel and so this was a good start to spreading her own wings and seeing whatever she could get into while visiting family in the southern area. The very thought brought a small smile to her lips as she finally raised a spoon and started digging into the meal that her far had prepared for them.
