Bringing out her keychain, she hit the button and adjusted in the seat as a human before leaving her head back to look up at him. “Just for a bit until the timer goes off.” Tapping the start on it, she went to touch the keys of the piano and felt her skin crawl as the sound that came out was not what she was used to. “Ah! What’s wrong with it? Oh no, is it broken?” Trying a bit more while keeping her taps very light, it still sounded off but if she kept quiet with it it wasn’t as bad on her ears.
“You can sit next to me? Just on this side where I can see?” She didn’t like it when things were on her blindside. Not that she was worried about them doing something but it was just a habit by now.
The song she played was one that she’d heard Aloysius playing, something slow and sort of simple. It always made her a bit sleepy but at least she had figured it out easily enough. It was nice being able to play, even if she still couldn’t wrap her head around reading the actual sheet music.

While her skin crawled he flinched and looked pained by the sound. “It’s off tune - it’s all wrong.” He already knew that, he just did, it sounded so very wrong and unsettling. “Someone needs to tune it….” Biting on his lip he went to see if he couldn’t find his phone and google how to tune a piano, as he was certain he could do it. While it wasn’t so bad for her it was for him, because it sounded too wrong to Liam, when he did return he had a video playing.
“Do you want me to try and tune it first?” He offered, already figuring it might not get tuned by either of them, she was on limited time so perhaps afterwards. “I can try and tune it later and you can watch.,...once your timer runs out.” He offered already taking a seat by her so he could join her.

“Oh, we can wait then. I don’t want you getting hurt trying to mess with it. I’m sure Aloysius knows how to fix it and I think he probably wouldn’t want us messing it up more.” Sighing she tapped the keys a few more times before closing the lid walking over to the other instruments and looking them over as she held a hand over her mouth so as not to breathe in too much more dust. Tracing her hands over the wood of the tall stringed instrument, she plucked at its strings and found that it didn’t sound off and wonky like the piano. “I don’t think I’ve seen one of these before. I’ve seen his viola and the piano… oh and this odd little thing of his he kept beneath the pillow of his cot. I don’t think I’ve seen it since he moved up to the other room though.” She hadn’t felt it when sleeping on the bed when he laid down for a few minutes here and there between things. Looking over at Liam she smiled as she plucked a few more strings until she had some semblance of a melody coming from the thing.
There was a sound a bit farther off, something she heard and tensed a bit from. “Oh, I think someone might be here or at the door.” Breathing out, she walked back over and picked up the phone just as it was about to buzz and let her human form disappear as she hopped back onto the bench as a large black and white cat. “Fish?” Trilling a bit at the idea that they would be away from the dust and eating soon. “Maybe Aloysius will be back soon too?” The time on her phone was close to when they had said they’d be home so maybe the weather was what was causing the delay.

And the youtube video was finally getting into the tuning of a piano…which included tools. Damn it, and he knew they likely didn’t have those. He couldn’t picture Aloysius tuning a piano himself, that was something he or his sister would call someone in to do for them, so there was no way to fix the piano till he called someone in to handle it.
“That’s a harp.” He said nodding once, he at least knew what it was. “It doesn’t sound out of tune either.” So she could play with that, perhaps figure it out, he didn’t know how one worked and he wasn’t sure Aloysius or Melody had ever played one either. “Maybe one of them can teach you.” Well really Aloysius, since he didn’t think Desiree would want Melody involved in anything.
“Yes, fish I think.” Since no one had let themselves in he was certain it was the groceries being delivered. “Come, lets get things in and we can start on your fish.” Hurrying from the dusty room he went to open the front door and start pulling the bags into the main entrance. From there they could get everything into the kitchen and he could start cooking for everyone.

Desiree followed the other into the kitchen and hopped back onto the counter to settle in and watch Liam cook. “Seered maybe would be easier for you and crabcakes next time.” Purring as she watched the filets come out of the bag aside all manner of ingredients and drinks. “He used to make all sorts of fish and crab things and let me have some. I think it’s nice that you cook too, he always pushed too hard to make sure he cooked all these grand meals on top of everything else he was doing.”
Flicking her tail as she watched, she was amazed at how quickly the kitchen had gone from barren to full. Everything from fresh food to spices and drinks was unloaded and put away. “After all this, you’re going to have to settle down some more or Aloysius is going to be upset but I won’t tell on you. I like being busy, even before I came to be like this I was always squeezing in and out of that window in the kitchen to venture around when he had students over for tutoring. At least it’ll stay quiet here other than the other Sharp coming over.”

“Crab cakes…you want me to make them or have them already done?” He asked, already thinking about the next time, since she’d brought it up. Listening to Desiree he was certain he’d be making food for her for a while, if she’d allow it, because it seemed she had enjoyed in the past when Aloysius would make food for her. Speaking for Aloysius…he would be due home very soon.
“He pushes himself too hard, he needs time to himself to relax and unwind. I don’t think he takes nearly enough time for himself.” Shaking his head the blond went about organizing things, putting things away, and starting on the food. It wasn’t easy with one hand but he managed to make it work, at one point shoving something down the cast to itch. “I don’t like not doing things, I’m used to it, but I’m also used to helping take care of others. I helped with the younger children.” Shrugging as he spoke, working on mixing things, he already had the salmon on the pan and cooking slowly as he didn’t want to burn it. He wasn’t familiar enough with it to risk things.
“I also want to help Aloysius as he’s been helping me, the same for his sister, I can’t repay them in many ways but in this way I can. I don’t want to just be seen as dead weight or useless…or anything else. I want to add into the…family. I want to be a part of and contribute.” And so he tried to do just that, he was just limited in things really.

“However he made them, I’m not sure. He probably has a recipe for it from that big book he kept in the drawer.” Moving about the large counter, she trilled again as the fish cooked in the pan. Whiskers twitched as she sniffed about at the nice smell that was coming along from its cooking. “Again, a good egg. Looks like you upgraded from taking care of children to taking care of the Sharps though.” It was working out well though so far for things if he had really gotten the sister to stop showing up randomly as well as getting Aloysius to eat and take care of himself a bit more again. “You’ve helped him a lot, he’s lost a lot and been hurt a lot.” She felt a bit bad still about everything that had happened but it was good that things had gotten better.
There was a sound, like a key in the door and her ears flicked towards the direction of the noise. “Ah, he’s back. Remember, I was watching you and didn’t let you work too hard.” She winked and hopped down to walk towards the door, casting another glance around to make sure all the bags were put away. If needed she would explain that she helped while being human to try and keep them from worrying.

“A recipe in the drawer…” Trailing off he nodded slowly. “I’ll look for that once this is done.” Because he didn’t want to burn anything and the fish did seem quick to cook, and soon enough was being plated and offered to Desiree. The food for himself, Aloysius, and whatever might be left over was going to take longer though.
“I lost a lot as well, even though I never knew what it was like to have it to start with. But now I know what I lost…and I’m ok with most of it.” He wasn’t sure about his father but he was ok with losing his mother and her family - more than ok really.
“Go greet him, tell him dinner is almost ready and his piano is really out of tune - it hurts to listen to.” It had really hurt his ears and he didn’t want to subject himself to it again - not any time soon. “His sister once said something about perfect pitch….if that helps at all.” He said nodding his head as he spoke and then he went back to dinner. He was working on a pasta dish for them all.
