And there they went. Nanami could only shake her head as she watched her two eldest racing towards the reefs, the mystic scanning the area one final time to make certain it was safe before heading towards the younger ones who were combing the shoreline. She wanted to remember every moment of today, Nanami taking her time as she walked across the beach and picked up a few shells as well.
"Here. You know we used to make a game of it, seeing how many shells we could grab before the water pulled them away again." She offered one towards Kailani as she joined them, the Kawena's expression gentle as she thought about her own childhood. "Is it alright if I join in?" Nanami asked, a small smile on her face even as her gaze darted towards the reefs one final time to watch as the eldest dove into the water.

"Is that how it works?" Zoicite questioned with a laugh. He supposed that was true, he was simply accustomed to getting them from their mothers every time they went to Oba without them for a dig. "I suppose I'll have to pick up a few for myself too then." There was plenty to remember from this trip, after all. Their first time in Kahi! So far he hadn't any complaints minus how stir crazy he had felt being coped up on the ship from Matori to here. Apparently diving off the side and swimming behind a ship was not approved, as much as he had wanted to try it once they reached these clearer waters.
"Ah, yes. DeeDee." He nudged her back playfully before running after her, Zoicite not hesitating to dive into the water and start swimming forward. There were vibrant coral reefs right along the shoreline and he gestured for Raffrdeigh to follow along as he started navigating through the more open areas, trying to find a good opening so that they could explore whatever was inside.

What did she want to find? Kailani's nose scrunched up thoughtfully as she pondered it. "Maybe...maybe some pearls?" She admitted after a moment thinking of some of the clams that her grandparents had showed her in Matori. If you pried them open then you could find some rare pearls inside, so far her favorite was the rare pink one and it would be amazing if she could find one on her own. She could make a really pretty necklace with it or any sea glass if they found that instead.
Though her attention quickly went to Nanami, her gaze widening as she considered the option. "A game?" She whispered back, looking as the water stole away with the few shells again. "I don't mind playing...would you want to play Gin Ae?" If so then the water was already returning, preparing to drop off a few more shells and pieces of shimmering sea glass that she was ready to try to snatch up.

She loved the feel of physical activity. Everything was more fun if it involved running or swimming. Especially swimming! She dove alongside her brother and breathed a contented sigh as she slipped under the cool surface. The water here was so different from Matori. The reefs were their own variety of bright colors and strange outcroppings of stone and coral. Fascinating!
She followed the gestured motion and dove deeper to inspect the breaks of sand between the clutches of coral. There were many basic shells and someone seemed to have lost a sandal, but nothing fun was spotted yet. A school of tiny purple fish was disturbed, making Raffrdeigh giggle as the swarm swept around her.

Gin Ae gave Kailani's hand a squeeze of approval. Pearls were definitely a treasure worth finding! He would definitely help her look for those special shells that could hold them. When Nanami came over, he looked up at her with a smile and a nod. "We can all play." The pearls would have to wait, but this sounded interesting. The lightest shells able to get caught by the waves would tumble about without any apparent pattern, and would give a slight challenge. He let go of his sister's hand and squatted to prepare himself for the incoming wave.

"Alright then. Here it comes!" Nanami let out a laugh, the water rushing towards them and dumping a collection of various shells at their feet. While she acted out playing with her children, the Kawena made certain to only scoop up one interesting one to allow them free reign of the scattered offerings coming in from the ocean. "Just watch out for that one!" She warned after a moment, noticing a little crab had also washed in with the shells. Hopefully no one got their fingers pinched if they did accidentally pick up the little creature hiding in the spiraled shell.

Eventually Zoicite found an opening in the coral, the teen twisting in the water to watch as Raffrdeigh found a school of fish. A grin crossed his own lips, Zoicite letting out a laugh of bubbles at the sight. Once the tornado of fish cleared, the teen waved towards his sister and darted forward into the opening he had found. Inside was a maze of plants and vibrant corals that laced together into various alcoves and such for fish to hide in. One thing did catch his attention right away and Zoicite went towards it. There was a cluster of anakonis just gathered in the reef, the tiny star-shaped creatures spreading all across an area with varying bright colors that made him pause in admiration.
They looked so small that it made him hesitate, Zoicite thinking about the creatures their Makuahine had warned them about. These though should be safe based on what he remembered. The little star fish like creatures weren't poisonous and safe to the touch, they just tickled whenever he ran his fingers over the bumpy surface. Zoicite finding it interesting to just trace them while also being careful to not dislodge them from their spot or break away any of the coral pieces.

She got one, two and then another shell! Though this one was kind of strange..."Oh!" Kailani had been the one to look at the crab and accidentally mistake it for a shell. Though thankfully she wasn't pinched, the little crab instead was clinging to her layered skirts as she tried to drop it after receiving the warning from Nanami. "What do we do? I have a hitchhiker." She laughed softly, her gaze delighted instead of fearful for once. The little thing was adorable and had such a pretty shell with the deep purple transitioning to a pale blue towards the top! Unlike strangers she was far more open to animal interactions, the youngling not bothered as she dropped her shells and held up her outer skirt to keep the little crab from falling off.

She reached out to brush her fingers along a couple of the fish, but they easily darted around the searching hand. When the school darted back into a different crevasse, Rafferdeigh turned to again follow her brother. Ooh, a cave! She gently touched a smooth branch of tubing coral, the fringe at the end tickling her fingers. She started looking along the sands, and she let out a squeak of excitement. With a quick peek around for any inhabitants, she reached down and pulled out a conch shell larger than her hand. With a big grin, she swam it over to show off to Zoicite.

The boy giggled as the water rushed over his feet again. This time, his hands darted around to pluck out the little empty shells that he could get a hold of. The warning made him pause to seek out the subject of warning. His eyes widened slightly with concern. He reached out to grab the little crab, but caught himself and pulled back. "Maybe kneel so it's touching the ground?" he offered curiously.

Oh my. Nanami could only smile as she watched her daughter's dilemma. Since she wasn't pinched or crying there wasn't much worry, the Kawena recognizing the creature to be mostly peaceful and only pinching if it was in actual danger. "I think that's a good idea, little one." She agreed with Gin Ae. "Just follow your brother's lead and hopefully it'll scurry away." If not then she would help to pry the claws from her daughter's dress so that it could go back into the ocean where it belonged.

Zoicite pulled away from the little starfish, not realizing that one had clung to his hand while a couple of others had taken the time to also catch a ride in his hair and on his clothing. He simply swam over towards Raffrdeigh and looked at the conch shell, giving a thumbs up at the sight of it. Nice! His bright gaze went over towards the reef once more, the teen noticing some broken pieces on the sands and he bent down to pick up a few pieces. They could be used for trinkets and souvenirs, right? He held them up to show Raffrdeigh without realizing his little attachments as he continued glancing around the reef to see whatever else would catch their attention along the way.

Aww, but did she want it to scurry away? Kailani's expression shifted almost sadly but she knew it was for the best to let the crab go back into the ocean. With a soft sigh, the youngling bent down so that her skirts touched the sand and she waited patiently even as the water washed around her waist and tugged at the crab. "Have a nice journey." She whispered, saying her farewell as the pretty creature slowly let go and scampered back off into the sands. "Do you think we could bring one home...maybe once we're returning?" She hadn't thought about taking back a familiar, but maybe they could find something cute that would be willing to come back to Matori with them? Her pale gaze was thoughtful as she watched the crab scurrying away, the youngling glancing back towards Nanami and Gin Ae with a small smile. "Maybe....maybe we can go to the tidepools now? Do you think they'll join us?" If they found plenty of things there then they could carry it back before going into town and having the picnic later on the cliffs together. She could only imagine with Zoicite and DeeDee had found while exploring too, the youngling glancing back towards the ocean with interest before looking back towards Gin Ae again.

Rafferdeigh was quite pleased with her find. Her brow rose with confusion and interest when she noticed her brother's passengers, and a light giggle escaped her. Had he put those there? Silly! He was already off on his search again though. She took a moment to inspect her shell a little further before she tied it to one of the loops on her belt.
She paused to peer further into the ocean. No paka'kona in sight yet. Zoicite seemed to have found something. With a little grin, she swam forward to give his arm a nudge. She pointed curiously at one of the little clingers he had attached to him and gently ran a finger over its bumpy back..

Gin Ae couldn't help a pleased smile at Nanami's praise. It always felt good to have his ideas be validated. He could tell his sister was a little reluctant, but he felt it best to let the crab return to the water. She wanted to bring one home? He cocked his head slightly. Would one of those crabs really want to come with them? Instead of answering, he looked at Nanami curiously. What would she think of it? Ah, but the tidepools was something he could definitely answer. "I think we can go." Their older siblings would probably be a while yet, but that would give him and Kailani plenty of time to pick through the treasures that the pools might hold!
