Riya 4 She smiled at the girls as they switched roles or got into their costumes. As Rhidian explained about the festival she focused on Yngvara and got the things needed to sew. "Hmn, well it sounds like it might be fun. I'll have to see if we can't be here when it happens so that the boys might be able to participate." Of course she'd have to make sure Reaghan was very well bundled. The cold always got to him. As she worked, using Rhidian's own work as a guide for her own. Since she wasn't sure about the exact look for the costume she relied heavily on the other work. "You'll have to be careful with Reaghan though." She continued the conversation about the festival. "I'm sure Eirex will enjoy it though."

"It's happening tonight. Didn't mor tell you when she sent the invite?" Lifting the edge of the costume, Rhidian looked at her sister's sloppy stitch work with a wince. It wasn't completely ruined, but she needed to map out exactly how to fix it. Bending over, the smaller sister lifted a threaded needle into her nimble hands and got to work.
Unlike Silfi's frazzled approach, Rhidian followed the cloth with a careful eye and made each stitch tight enough that her sister's skin couldn't be seen behind them.

It was humbling to say the least, watching Rhidian so effortlessly take off where she couldn't. She knew everyone had their own talents, truly she did, but why hadn't the younger girl said something about this before? Maybe because you never asked. Silfi sighed, causing Rhidian's hand to falter, but she quickly stood back up.
Be careful with Reaghan? Silfi very nearly opened her mouth, but thought better of it. Her cousin's physical state may have been frail, but his mouth! Spirits she wanted to beat him with a real stick, not just a bundle of hay.

Yngvara 5"They'll be fine, we wouldn't let anything happen." Even saying it, Yngvara knew her words wouldn't have much effect. If it were that simple then Reaghan would have spent his formative years on the back of a raptrix with his cousins. Spirits knew her mother had tried. The events leading to his illness had caused a shift and Yngvara had tried her best to respect the way her Aunt and Uncle chose to handle things. "After tonight I'll be leaving for the mountain and I wanted to make sure everyone was here before I left."

Riya 5 Happening tonight? Well that was perfect. She'd brought the boys with her this time so they would be able to enjoy the festivities. Of course as she sewed she gave a bit of a casual winge. "I admit she may have mentioned it. I didn't read the entire letter. I just saw the invite and said 'let's go.'" In truth she had been wanting to write Sylv to see if they were able to come up anyways. A nice vacation from town would do them all good. "Just be sure Reghan is bundled up. Eriex should have fun with it." When she heard her eldest niece say she was going to the mountain she looked up at the skull that hid her face. "The mountain? What for?"

"Can you lift your left arm? I'm almost done but I need to fix the underarm." In truth she wasn't doing much of her own stitch work so much as she was just fixing Silfi's work. At times it was harder because she needed to pick them out, then start fresh, but now that she wasn't the one underneath the skull Rhidian was much more involved.
"Your hemwork was really nice. You just need to keep your stitches tighter so the leather holds together." It only felt right to compliment her given how she'd been mentally berating her for the past...what, six days?

Without complaint, the older sister lifted her arm and watched as Rhidian worked. As embarrassing as it was to have her picking up the literal slack, it was admittedly nice to see her designs come to life. "...Thanks. Maybe when we have more time you can show me how to do it?"
Catching her big sister's words, though, and her Aunt's question caused Silfi to scoff. "Because she's an idiot." There was a reason the Ild'vann had settled closer to Zidel on her father's family's land. They had traded a life of secrecy for an actual chance at life where they wouldn't freeze to death in their beds.

Yngvara 6Yngvara rolled her eyes from underneath the skull. Calmer or not, Silfi still had an attitude that would have gotten her a pinch if Yngvara wasn't drapped in the costume. "Every year since mor and the rest of the village came down from the mountain we've got up in the spring to pay homage to the spirits of those we lost." And after saying it, Yngvara stood a little straighter. "This year those of us that aged out of the hogmanay festival are going to spend what's left of winter there. We'll come back in spring with everyone else." Telling her parents the news hadn't been easy, but there was little they could do now that she was grown in the eyes of their people. If Yngvara wanted to go she could go; even if she never came back.

Riya 6 She looked over at the younger two as they worked together and a smile formed with a fondness in her eyes. Perhaps one day she'd have a daughter. She could just imagine how her boys would handle a sister. As Rhidian complimented her sisters work Riya turned her attention back to what she was doing. "Oh, arms out please dear." She needed to get the seems underneath. When Yng started to explain why she was going up the mountain she looked up for a second then back down. Her lips were pressed together for a second before she spoke. "I can't say I like the idea of you doing that but.. it's a noble idea. Just be sure you return in the spring." She'd have to talk with Sylv about that later.

"Mor wasn't happy about it either." She knew Yngvara would be staring at her, but since she couldn't see it happening Rhidian just casually let the comment fly. "Especially after Yngvara left earlier in the year to escort that fancy boy to the airships."
Taking a half step back, the younger hybrid took in the costume and nodded. "It's all done. How does it feel, Silfi? Any pinching?" She looked absolutely ghoulish which mean the job was complete.

Giving a half turn, Silfi did her best to raise her arms this way and that, all the while avoiding hitting anyone and bent over with success. "Yeah, I think we're good." They wouldn't known until the festival began if it would hold up or not, but Silfi had faith.
She started to pull it over her head, mindful of her ponytail and when she was finally free she gave a sigh. There would be no way of fixing her fingers before the festivities, but at least now she knew she couldn't wear her hair up in the costume.

Yngvara 7"That was different, Rhidian," She warned. "And you shouldn't talk about things you don't understand." Now that it was on her mind Yngvara couldn't help thinking about that trip as she raised her arms. While she hadn't enjoyed it in the least there was something about getting away from the family for a bit. She'd gotten to explore the wilds on her way back and she was hoping to replicate that on the mountain. "We'll be careful." As careful as she could be, anyway. Yngvara wasn't naive; she knew this venture could very well be her last, but she was willing to risk it. Her mother had grown up on that mountain and if she could then the least Yngvara could endure would be a winter.

Riya 7 She paused to look at Rhidian's finished product and gave a nod of approval to Silfi checking it to make sure it held up to movement. Then she went back to what she was doing so Yng wouldn't be stuck in her costume for very much longer. "A fancy boy huh? Well mow I'm interested." She chuckled a little as she finished up the last stitches. When she knotted the thread and ripped the extra off she patted her niece on the arm. "All done dear." As she moved back and waited for Yng to get out of the heavy leathers she took a breath and put her hands on her hips. "Goodness I hope if I have a girl they are super sweet and dainty and don't want to run off to the mountains. " She grinned at Yngvara then.
