Not that was interesting, the language of flowers, that was not something most knew about. Mostknew red roses and perhaps white but beyond that most people knew nothing of flowers and their language or even what different colored flowers meant. It was a lost language in a sense, especially when compared to what it once was. He knew it well, even if his garden didn’t prove that one bit, he knew very well what flowers meant. “Really now? Most people couldn’t tell you beyond a red or a white rose what a flower meant. That is rather impressive.”
“I went to university for art as well. History of art, teaching…all the things you would expect.” And he’d managed to balance that with the Negaverse and a job. He’d doubled up at some points in his classes, spending many nights suffering under a lack of sleep, he’d managed it though and still somehow gained a team which he’d tried to keep a hold on. He’d been through a lot and had somehow managed it all for better or worse. “So retail is a thing…something which interests you and runs in the family. Mine is a bit more…diverse so I can’t say I’m following in anyone's footsteps or continuing some legacy.”

He waved his hand to dismiss the idea. “I know a lot of things that I have picked up here and there but thank you.” It had been something he enjoyed sneaking into some of his paintings as well, hidden messages within the flowers scattered in the scenery. Notes for those who knew him and his ways. He’d have flowers at the shop as well from time to time, something on display at the counter to bring a little bit of something new in to contrast against all the old.
“The whole packaged deal it seems, better goals than I have worked towards.” He’d floated through things on his family’s name until they’d tried forcing a marriage. In the end, he’d ended up following through with the same thing even if he’d wanted to open a restaurant or something that felt more personal. But fate had left him stuck in the same cycle that his family had been in, maybe in time he could break free from it and do more.
“I like the people more than the fact I own the shop but yes it has been something in my family although the wares have changed drastically over the generations. It sounds nice though, having so many options or the freedom to try things out and change course.” Just like now, he was very glad to be able to speak and maybe flirt a little with Alexandre. Some customers, not so much, but he remained kind when approached. He just preferred those ones be passing through and not regulars, this man though, he hoped would come again and again to visit and share new stories.

“Most don’t pick up on the language of flowers, it’s something old that’s faded from peoples knowledge.” He understood it fading away, that people didn’t know or think about it, he just happen to like plants enough that he knew about it. It was still impressive to meet someone else who knew the meanings to certain flora and fauna though, a nice little something which he could appreciate.
“Whole package?” He might have goals, good ones, but he was still the families black sheep and he suspected he would remain as such until he settled into a career. People would be fine if he never had a marriage or a solid relationship, if he never brought someone to social events at his side. He’d just have to keep dealing with the females thrown at him or flirting with him of their own volition. So long as he didn’t get caught sleeping about, or having so many short relationships with people, that would ruin his black sheep reputation and would impact his family. He’d been keeping things as tucked away as he possibly could. It wasn’t always easy, and he rather disliked it at times, but he managed it.
Let those in his family think he had little dalliances if they wanted…let them think he wasn’t failing at relationships. Let them think it was all casual nothingness to him, it was easier that way, he looked less pathetic and it didn’t hurt nearly as much. So long as people outside his family caught wind of nothing, relationships or dalliances, than all was well. “Mmm, I do like the freedom that my family has afforded me, I rather dislike being chained by such things. Sans souci.” Tossing out a simple phrase he knew and that did rather well at painting the idea of things, it was also a rococo term, it was how he tried to live whenever and however he could.

“I noticed that when I came here but it’s nice to know someone at least knows a bit about it. I have wondered if maybe some of these people are here only for the university because of reasons other than learning.” Knowing all too well the number of people he’d managed to snag while out walking or running near the paths and parks that led to the campus.
Gesturing vaguely around them he tried thinking how to explain it. “Goal, money, influence, an education, and looks? You know the whole package. I had it similar back home but I didn’t like the string tied to it.” He’d cut what he could after his parents had passed, finally able to get out of the arranged engagement before things were to be finalized by the end of this year. Like a prisoner on a jailbreak, he’d taken what he could and got out of there. He still had money and looks but his goals were muddied after all this time and his influence was not something that held the same weight over here.
Smiling a little at that French saying, he nodded back. “Sans Souci.” Holding up his water bottle in a toast for a moment. “That is why I came here although the red tape has made things less than carefree. It will take time, I just have to take it one day at a time and try not to freeze during winter. Though I am sure if you stop by and bring me espresso I will survive the worst of it. At least as long as whatever spectre haunts this shop doesn’t decide to get a bit greedier and do more than make me tired.”

“And you can tell I have money and influence already?” He questioned, not denying the other things…also he didn’t deny the two he questioned. He just wondered what was giving it away to the other already, especially the influence part. He could just be some spoiled little rich kid with an education and far too much time, and money, on his hands but without the influence. The other had picked up on that though and he did wonder about it.
“I may not live that life all the time but I do find the time to do as I please and in just what manner that pleases me.” He tried to live life as he wanted but he had duties to his family and the Negaverse, obligations, which he would not deny. “I do not mind the strings I have, because I have many freedoms and some are because of those strings.” His family, his name, the money it afforded him many things which he wanted and enjoyed. It allowed him to paint and to afford the clothing he wore. It allowed him to return to university as he liked. He wasn’t denied much in life and only those most insensible things which he could not afford on his own.
“I am sure you will survive winter, you might want to collect sweaters though in order to do so.”

“I recognize brands and when there are no labels, it means you aren’t nouveau riche.” He’d seen both sides of things and grabbed a bit of fashion from both as well. Sometimes it was fun to be extra gaudy, to try out some new trend or thing and see how people reacted to him. A lot of the students here got the hint when he dressed like new money, it stood out and had people flocking to him at the bar when he bought a round for everyone. “We will see, I’ll take that into account.” The door creaked as someone new entered, he watched them carefully as they wandered the store. Offering an apologetic smile to the other he moved around the counter to help this new customer out. Maybe more conversation later, if not, hopefully they would come back another day.

New money…no he was not new money, his family hadn’t been that in a long time, not that they spoke of it or let others know. Those who knew already knew while others could think he was new money when he walked around in gucci sneakers or something else with a logo on it, though he never went around with lots of huge logos on his clothing. He was also sure there were people who thought they had more money than him, when they walked around flashing big logos and acting like they were on top of things, he didn’t look like they did but rather he looked rather normal when compared.
Looking towards the door, and the person entering the shop, he nodded his had slowly. “I’ll be back, I’m sure, good luck with your business today.” And he did drift out, slowly, while keeping in mind what he would be asking his family once he was inside his car.
