Gods save him but Tei's mother was proving to be a difficult one. Not that Lynx hadn't anticipated that once he knew the woman to be an Alk. He had done his research on his own heritage to know what Alkidike's were like. He sighed a little at Maya's behavior before he reached up to pinch the bridge of his nose and half closing his eyes. "Indeed.. someone that loves her for who she is, will respect her, and defend her from anything." He'd already taken on the mystic on Yael for her so he wasn't going to back down from this woman.

When she mentioned they could do the test of his choosing he shook his head and lowered his hand. "We can settle whatever it is you're looking for with a simple match between the two of us." Lynx wasn't doing more than one test since he figured the woman had her mind made up as it was.

Maya opened her mouth to respond to Lynx. Ready to propose the idea of a strength test, but before she could even respond Teiluj's yell had the woman jumping out of her skin. Since when did her mild daughter have the capacity to yell? This girl was continuing to surprise her at every turn. The sight of food however was enough to stop the Alkidike in her tracks. Her stomach wasn't empty but it certainly had room for someone's cooking.

Giving a sly glance back towards Lynx Maya flexed the arm closest to the hybrid. Clenching her fist into a ball she jerked her arm out to connect with Lynx's abdomen. "Guess you passed the test. I'm happy to have you as a son."

Her feet carried her swiftly towards the door way an into the house. "Teiluj what have you got for me here." Maya could feel the saliva swell in her mouth as she regarded the food on the table eagerly. Taking a seat at the far end so her daughter would be between her and the potential beast outside. "Ah! you always did know how to cook such amazing things. Takoda taught you well."

Teiluj beamed as each family member approached in turn. Pushing the full cup towards her mother. With a dismissive shake of her head the monk turned her attention towards Lynx. Stepping towards him she placed her hands lovingly on his chest, raising up to sweetly kiss him. Pulling back a little with a soft smile on her face. "I promise, she means no harm. She's just who she is. Come have something to eat and in this case, maybe have a drink. She's a bit much for most people. I promise I'll make it worth your while later."

Her hands slid down his side, to emphasize what she was referring to. Stopping to linger at his hips before pulling away to take a seat between her mother and Lynx. There was something different in her cup from the others, with a far less obvious scent. "Now lets eat, it's a quick meal mother, we weren't exactly expecting company this evening."

As Teiluj seemed to try and soothe him he only lifted a brow at her. While the promise of things being worth his while were nice he could only shake his head at her and a half smile. "Its fine." He could understand wanting to make sure that Tei was with someone good.

He moved over to take a seat and enjoy the food. As Maya asked him if he was going to eat, with her mouth full, he only chuckled and nodded. Then she mentioned marriage as an Oban custom. He paused to look at his mate before he looked back at Maya. "Oban's usually worry about that. My uncle married my aunt when they found out she was with child. My own parents however waited until my twin and I were almost six before they got married." So to him there was no rush.

Though he did look at Teiluj with a softer expression. "If its something Teiluj wants then I'll gladly do it." Lynx just didn't feel a rush for it though. To him it was a minor detail. What mattered to him were Tei's feelings.

Hearing that his mate had to do all the work for the one before him he shook his head. "I do most things around the house and have no problem getting Teiluj what she wants and needs. I believe she deserves to be treasured."

"That's something." Maya blinked with a growing grin. "Keeping yourself busy looking after the mother of your child must be taking up all of your time. It's probably going to keep you from your work." Chewing eagerly with another gulp of the liquid Maya swayed a little. Her cheeks growing rosy with each gulp. "That is too much of a burden for you son. I have a better idea, I'll stay here. I'll take on looking after her for a bit till your child is born. It's the perfect solution. You don't need to thank me. I'm happy to do it. That baby is going to need a strong Alkidike name too. Have you thought of something."

Finishing the glass with another sway, Maya slammed the cup back down on the table. "This stuff is amazing. Where do you keep the rest of it. I'll leave some payment for it. I must have more."

Teiluj kept her hand lovingly over Lynx's as his rested on her belly. "Then that's what we will do. We will wait till our little one is old enough."

Flinching at her mothers interjected idea Teiluj didn't know how to properly respond. Grateful that Lynx was the more vocal of the two of them. She wasn't sure she quite liked the idea of her mother staying with them for that long. Or her intended 'help'. Although she didn't feel it fair to burden Lynx either. She was capable of looking after herself after all. Even if she did move slower, and the strange nausea and sickness that had plagued her weeks prior. Markets weren't that far away either, so she was easily able to satisfy her cravings. And she wasn't letting her 'condition' stop her from working on her studies and helping the various animals that came through. She was just being more cautious. While taking the rest that she needed to make sure she didn't push herself to far. Giving an indignant huff to the conversation Teiluj finally took a small sip of her drink.

"I'll be alright." Teiluj muttered. "It's not like I'm the first earthling to have a child. Everyone goes through it. If they can handle it, I'm sure I can too." Listening to Lynx give out other options, she rolled her eyes. She knew her mother well enough to know this was going to turn into another debate.

Reaching over to give Lynx's leg a reassuring rub, Teiluj pulled away from the table to fetch the drink her mother was so fond of. If anything, she would just help her mothers intoxication level rise enough to be co-operative with Lynx's decision. Uncorking the Oban liquid she filled her mothers cup once again, tilting the bottle for a better look before just offering the rest of the container to her mother instead. "Here, it's on us."

Lynx looked at Teiluj and smiled. "I have no doubt you can handle it but I am here and perfectly able of taking care of other thing. You already get to do something I can't." He pulled her hand toward his chest and rested it over his heart. "You are carrying our child and protecting them until they are ready to be born, so let me care for and protect you while you do."

He easily let go when she got up to ply her mother with more to drink. He watched and waited until Maya was drunk enough to agree to things as though they were her idea. "Oh. Great idea. A room at the inn and helping in the barns. How nice of you, Mother." Lynx got up and motioned for Maya to follow him as he looked at Teiluj. "I'll show her to the inn and make sure she gets a room." If he had to then he'd toss her onto Banshee's back and carry her there. Either way, the rooms here were taken and he didn't think the beasts in the barn would like someone disturbing them. Especially if they snored. Banshee got testy if his sleep was interrupted.
