“I think four is plenty, but we’ll never know what the future holds.” Replied Ami, her cheeks flushing at the very idea. Poor Noelani would be so tired of her after that! The very thought brought an embarrassed laugh from her lips, her cheeks warming even more. “Who knows? After everything we’ve seen and heard about the tree maturing….maybe you’ll have some nieces and nephews in the future instead.” They had heard the whispers, the pollen so noticeable that it was hard not to realize something was up. Quiana had apparently been in shock, their travel delay working out for the best as new possibilities opened up for every Elidae. Ami hadn’t the heart to tease Quiana even though her adoration for romance was making it hard to not question the Elidae, especially after seeing how her gaze brightened at the mention of someone she had met back in Matori.

“True.” Noelani bumped Ami gently with her hip, “Don’t worry. I was teasing….mostly.” She winked towards her companion before pausing, the very thought making her blink. That was a possibility wasn’t it? “I’ve been an only child for so long that I don’t know quite what to make of having a sister now. The possibilities!” She gushed, her lips curving upwards into a playful grin. “It’ll be so hard to not tease her in the future though! Truly though I just want her to be happy, this week has been hard on her.” Even if the idea of nieces and nephews was amusing, it was not Noelani’s life and she would not blame Quiana if she never had such a thing. Everyone lived at their own pace and even Noelani was surprised to see that she had four of her own now. If anything she was just delighted to know that she had found her missing family, a sister being the thing she never knew she needed until Quiana had walked into her life. She just didn’t want her sister to be alone, that was her biggest prayer was for her to find laughter and light in this world as she traveled along. Their home would always be open to her, a place to rest should she get tired of exploring the world.

Ami smiled warmly, her hand squeezing Noelani’s fingers. “I’m certain she will be happy. She just needs time to mourn and find her place in this world, it can be hard but it isn’t impossible.” The Kawena nodded with confidence, her belief in love and support stronger than most. “She has family again, she will never truly be alone even if she never settles in one place. Just as I have my family in Matori now and my heart will always be happy whenever you are with me. I will never regret leaving my home to chase you, Noel. Don’t ever forget that.” And surely one day Quiana would find similar support, someone to fill her days with warmth and laughter just as Noelani made Ami’s world a brighter place.

“You truly are a gem.” Noelani stopped walking so that she could face Nanami, the hybrid reaching out to tug her closer and into a hug. “You’re shining even without me, don’t ever forget that. Happiness is with each of us, but we do make things better by dealing with this world together.” She mused lightly, the admission making her own cheeks flush. Her family was so dear to her and now her life was taking this new twist, the hybrid finally exploring Kahi now that she realized she had so many more connections in this world than before. “We’ve helped support each other and have made it so far by working together. We’ve conquered so many things that I’m excited to see the next chapter. Thank you for being in my life, love.” It was rare that Noelani was completely sincere like this, the hybrid easily getting flustered when she expressed her feelings but in the moment she couldn't help but to appreciate Nanami and wanted to let the Kawena know how much she meant to her. Life was too short to leave such things unsaid, that much she had learned after her grandmother’s passing and Noelani did not want to waste any precious moments like this.

“Noel…” Ami smiled, happiness and love spreading through her chest and warming her whole body as she listened to Noelani’s words. “You’re welcome.” She managed after a moment, hugging Noelani in return before leaning up on her tip-toes to capture the hybrid’s lips for a kiss. “Thank you as well for bringing so much love into my life.” She treasured the moment, allowing the sun to sink lower into the horizon as they spent the rest of the afternoon together just enjoying each other’s company and exploring the little cove together.
