Auli'i 8 Reaching up with one hand, Auli'i tapped the side of her nose mysteriously, giving a sly smile. "I told you. We're just returning this shell to the ocean." Did she have any ulterior motives she was hinting at? Not really. Did she want to watch him squirm in anticipation or curiosity over what the reason was? Yes. Very much so. Only Minke never did seem to squirm all that much. At least not in that way. He got stressed out in public places. He got embarrassed and blushed easily when she got too close to him. She had even seen him react that way to his childhood friend. Everyone seemed to give him the shakes, regardless of how much he knew them or not.
Even now, he looked calm. Maybe a tad bit worried about whatever she was making him think she was plannning. But not all that worried. And that worry she was seeing could simply be how far out he was or the fact she was treading water closely. Her hair could almost touch his shoulder.
"Ready?"

Minke 9 All Minke did was frown in response, suspicious of what she was doing. If she wanted to drown him, she was doing a poor job of it. But he shrugged his shoulders, figuring he may as well just see what she was up to considering he had come out here with her. Or, rather, was dragged out here with her.
This time, Auli'i grabbed his hand with her free one, ducking down under the water gracefully, sending hardly a ripple towards his face. She pulled him along with her, not too fast that he couldn't get a quick lungful of air before his world became blurry once more. The colors of the undersea opened up to him, like a flower blossoming for a sunrise. The tiny fish down below him darting about the many holes in the coral. The Hapuna lead him further down, still clutching his hand, swimming alongside him, once more pointing out things for him to see. Things he had seen before, but alone. Hardly ever with someone else. Elias didn't like diving down too far. Liked to keep more to the shallows, where he could easily touch the bottom if he needed. Minke had always felt a calling to the ocean. This was where he belonged. Odd that he had been born into a family of farmers.

Auli'i 9 Hand held tightly in the hybrid's, Auli'i focused less on him and more on the vibrant world around her. Curious fish swam around them, nibbling on her hair when she stayed in one spot. Off in the distance the sound of a large creature wailing. She closed her eyes and listened, fancing herself an expert on what it was trying to say.
After a few more trips back to the surface and many distractions, the Hapuna finally spotted a nice spot near a large tree of pretty coral. Many other shells were arranged along its base. She pointed down and started to lead the way down towards it after Minke nodded that he understood. Together, they descended upon a tiny shell village, small creatures crawling about inside them. Auli'i held her own shell up, found the perfect spot, and released it to slowly drift down where it landed with a tiny puff of the sand. Maybe this shell would serve as a better home for one of those critters they couldn't quite see, hiding as they were inside their homes from the strange large shapes who floated down towards them.
Task done, she pulled the Earthling back to the surface for one last, and final, draw of air.

Minke 10 He broke through the fine layer between water and air, throwing back his head and sending sparkles of waterdrops flying behind him. That had been the longest he had ever been underneath and he wasn't sure he was going to make it. He hoped, if he did pass out, Auli'i would have the strength to drag his body towards the surface and than shore. It didn't looked like her tiny arms could lift much. He gasped for air, taking large draws into his lungs while his eyes danced and sparkled with his delight of the experience. "Thank you....That was...." No words quite expressed it.

Auli'i 10 "You're welcome." Auli'i beamed back, hardly out of breath. But than why would she be? Her body was built for this. "Maybe I'll take you out, again, sometime. Must be much more fun to dive with a Hapuna than on you're own. You Earthlings are so slow." She giggled, redirecting her gaze back towards dry land. Even she desired a bit of a break after all that activity.
