I remember Night Stalker's little brother making matzah pizza for us last year, so I decided to try it myself, since I had a can of tomato sauce that happened to be KfP.

Not bad, but I don't eat a lot of pizza anyway, so I could live without it. ^^;

My roommate went away for the entire holiday so my bedroom is the only part of the apartment that got cleaned for Pesach... Our oven has no self-clean so I just put it on the highest temperature for 2 hours.

For Shabbos dinner tonight I'm making regular chicken, potatoes, and baked apples with matzah. I guess that's a halfway decent menu considering I own exactly zero in the way of Pesach cookware, so I'm doing it all with aluminum foil and disposable utensils. sweatdrop sweatdrop Oh, and one sharp kitchen knife.

Chabad is a wonderful place... and mine got a CATERED dinner... *is still full from last night... okay, dinner didn't end until well after midnight, but meh* And I'm going again for Shabbat dinner. Ah, how to keep Pesach in the dorms.

And KishoTenshi- Try to do what you can. Fresh fruits and veggies (non-processed) are good. Don't eat anything absuredly chumetz... like the Girl Scout cookies my non-Jewish roomie ate in front of me yesterday.

You're welcome... but, how can they argue with SALAD? Ask for a salad, it's healthy, and hard to argue with.

Pesah casher ve'sameach and can I just say that I'm glad that the 2 days of yuntiv and then shabbat are finally over and I can actually do things (eve though I don't really celebrate 2nd day). Anyway, my favorite pesach food is matzah pizza and those chocolate lollipop bears.

This Pesach, I actually made multiple batches of mandelbrot. Got the recipe out of my mother's Jewish cookbook, but it was very easy and they are absolutely amazing. Seriously, so much better than macaroons for a Passover cookie.

They claim that I can't go without protein for a week...and it's not healthy. Well sure but it's just a week. This morning my dad made bacon for breakfast, which I adore, I'm not orthodox so I eat meat all the time, and I refused. Yes I eat meat all the time but I figure, eh why not since it's Passover. We're conservative and my parents don't like following the holidays as much as I do, hence I have no say in the matter. (Hope that made sense)

Hun, your family isn't conservative if theyt eat bacon on Passover. YOU might be, or wish to be, but your family isn't.

And... that really sucks. I wish I knew what to tell you... how can they be against you being more observant?

it's just to much work because we're too busy staying at home and poping out kids

you know i know judaism is a sexist religion and all i've realized that doesn't mean that we have to still pay attention to those sexist parts it's called we can move on and realize that girls can be as observant as men

There are Conservative Jews who don't keep kosher too. I think the Conservative movement probably has the widest range of religiosity of any of the movements of Judaism... But, last I checked, eating (kosher) meat on Passover is okay.. sweatdrop Pork bacon would be no, but there's beef bacon for Passover in the kosher supermarket I shop at.

Eat meat, but avoid non-kosher meat like pork? Chicken and beef are kosher (if slaughtered and processed properly, but even if you're just sticking to kosher _species_ it's better than nothing). Don't eat blatent milk/meat mixtures like pepperoni pizza or cheeseburgers. For Passover, avoid cookies, breads, cereals, stuff that's "absurdly chametz" to quote a previous post. You don't have to be 100% observant to be observant at all... For converts and ba'al tshuvas especially, it's a process to adapt into, especially if you live with non-observant or less-observant family members.

A lot of parents whose children become religious have problems dealing with it. A friend I know moved out of his parents' house, because they told him he either had to stop keeping kosher and shabbos and the holidays or go do it somewhere else. Good luck with your situation.

*still hasn't told parents she's converting; will probably never tell her father*

Yes, there's a huge range in Conservatism, but EVERYONE I know at least keeps kosher for passover style during passover. Which is why I know she has little control, so she could be attempting to be Conservative, but... eating bacon on Passover is a bit much for the Conservative movement, in my opinion. There's also a lot of people at my synagouge who IDENTIFY as REFORM, but like the service better. Well, I can understand that. I like Chabad better than Hillel, even though the people running Hillel are closer to my level of observance, I'm COMFORTABLE with visiting a higher level of observance, though I know I could never do it myself.

And, yeah. I agree with your food selections. Even better would be fish, which doesn't have special slaughtering rules, and can be eaten with dairy, but, just do what you can.

Good luck!

(and I'm the one who made the "absurdly chametz" comment)

Hey thanks a lot guys for the support. I honestly think it's mostly my father and mother just honestly don't care. Although, we've had a rough year and didn't have a Seder Plate or Haggadah's so we had to perform the Seder from memory and make a Seder Plate. (We packed them..er..)

But my parents said, we have to work with what we can, we're sure G-d will understand.

But I asked my parents, if I hadn't pushed doing this Seder would you have done it at all and they said no.

Then my dad went on to telling me how I don't know anything about being a Jew...which I was quite angry at..

SO ANYWAY! Yes some people can still be conservative and not keep kosher..meh..

Honestly I tried to stay Kosher and I'm sure G-d will forgive me that I don't have the proper things at my exposure, in my..*corny moment* heart I celebrated Peysach and that's enough.
