She came into the room, clean and refreshed to look upon her sweet family in pure and utter chaos.
"Dad?" She asked hesitantly, his whole coloration had changed, "What happened?" Was this some sort of prank? 'Mom?" Her mother had crystals that should be a different color too. "What by the gods is going on?" Her voice was high and reedy and she was a bit ashamed of that as usually it was deep and liquid smooth like fine brandy. But in hindsight under the circumstances that should have been the least of her worries.
She looked at Izel trying to find changes in him as well before she looked down at herself. She screeched. She had changes too! What the crap?! She flapped her hands excitedly and terrifiedly.

He paused as he looked at his parents. Well that is not how he remembered them looking. "Did I miss something?" The laid back boy looked from one parent to the other then over at his sister when she started to screech. His hand came up to plug one finger into his ear as his head tilted to the side. "Ouch, easy on the vocals.."
Izel had failed to notice his own changes though he wasn't exactly looking at himself either. "Is this a big prank on me? Did Ultear and Ustasis join in?"

"No I am afraid this is anything but a prank. And nothing I can remember from my travels is helpful at all. Ahh, that is also a good point. We should check on Ultear and Ustasis and see how they are doing, magic has affected them as well. It seems like few of our family will be spared this nonsense." He shook himself and looked at the strange changes. "It looks like you will not be spared this either Izel." He scratched at his arm and watched the last vestiges of his old coloration fall off despondantly. Well at least he looked tanned now. He crossed his eyes in perplexion and looked at Ristadis for guildance? Comfort? He wasn't sure what could even be done about a situation like this one.
"Any ideas my love?" He was at a loss and time would likely not fill in the gaps in knowledge.

She shrugged unhelpfully. Her experience did not cover magic in any form. Ultear was better with it than all of them and he was out..again. The boy barely spent any time at home nowadays preferring to practice his shadowy craft throughout the Matori basin and in his own words spread the love of his presence. She had a sneaky suspicion he was keeping something exciting from them. A mother's intuition if you will, but she was unable to confront her eldest son about it. At least she had Izel, Tahnee and Ustasis still around.
She felt like she would get lonely should the bulk of the children leave.
"I regret to say I have little idea of what is going on."

She had to roll her eyes at her brother. Izel was such a stick in the mud. She was full of art and song and he was full off piss and vinegar. Ugh.
Boys were troublesome and she had nothing but brothers as far as the eye could see. Even if her parents chose to have more she might not get lucky enough to get a sister. Nykinae had sisters, Kechiri had sisters, Tahnee...Tahnee had nothing but boys and Mom. UGH.
"Afraid that its true, you have changes, I have changes, Dad looks like something dragged him up out of the kelp fields. Mom has darker crystals, we are set upon by some sort of magical catalyst."

Izel frowned when they all said it was no prank and that he had changes as well. He looked down at himself and patted himself down to make sure there was nothing out of place and nothing new. Of course there were changes. His colors were different. He brought a hand up to pull a strand of his hair out so he could see it. "Huh.. well that's.. not how I had it." He looked over at his sister and shook his head. "Its not so bad as a catalyst." He didn't see the issue with a bit of color change, weird as it was.

Umen looked at his children, quite amused because he could tell that they were quite annoying each other. Of course this was typical behaviour in an atypical situation. Thus he was kind of proud they were not freaking out too much over the color changes. There was nothing they could do about it and he was the most changed so far. He scratched his chest. "Ugh my underbelly too? I can't keep anything I had before?"
He gave Rista a flat look, she had only changed crystals that brat. Of course she would be beautiful if the magic made her mostly the color of mud but she still seemed mostly unaffected.
He was happy that this was not more serious.

She walked over and rubbed her husband's shoulder. "I wouldn't worry yourself love, if anything you appear more dashing than you were and that was saying something." She waggled her eyebrows at him. There that would solve his anxiety, he had quite high sense of steam anyway so he must only be worried about what she would think and her love was eternal.
Her kids fussed back and forth and she caught Umen's eye and they shared that timeless parental look. Best just to let them sort it out they were old enough to fight their own battles without dragging them into it.
It was amusing to see the sibling rivalry brew to a near boil.

Tahnee 6 Tahnee rolled her eyes hard at the antics of her brother. What a pain. She folded up her lips instead of saying anything, he was most unreasonable, unlike Ultear or even Ustasis most days. Heck even Dad was a logical being. It did make her feel better to see her Mom flirt with her Dad. Maybe she would get a sister out of this one day. She wasn't sure how but heh, it couldn't hurt to hope right? Please not more bros though being the only girl was crunchy enough. She shook her head and sat down and started eating, silence at this point would be her best defense from brotherly sass back. He was just going to disagree with everything she darn well said anyway, why bother when this argument wouldn't get here anything.

As his sister seemed to shut up afterward he nodded and moved over to the table so he could take a seat. He was interested in what else changed though. Clearly his mother got away with the least amount. His dad looked like he might as well had painted on all new colors. His sister.. well he had to say the changes likely did her good. Himself? Well, he wasn't vain but he'd rather liked the colors he had. It was a nice mix of both parents. Now he was just some random mix of who knows what. "Well this is a bummer." He sighed out before looking over at his parents. "Do you suppose it washes off?" Anything was worth a shot right?

Umen 7 "No I reckon washing off sped the process for me considerably." He sighed. "Its magic, seems like too much of a coincidence for those trees to hit maturity and us all change colors like a rainbow. They are likely to be the cause of all this nonsense." He sighed. "Great magic like this is usually quite hard to reverse, I have heard of eye change and crystal color change potions but unless someone dropped a vat of it into the drinking supply it makes more sense that the contaminant is airborne. Besides those potions were rare a long time ago and I haven't ever seen any." He poked his own arm, the itching had stopped. "I have to go look in the mirror this is so trippy."

She joined her mate at the mirror they had set up in the bathroom. "They are a pretty color." She said of her crystals. "I wonder how many people changed in total. How many of our family and friends were affected by that pollen."
She shook her head. It had all happened so very suddenly. "I don't know what to do about it, I suppose there isn't anything we can do really." She returned to her plate and pushed her veggies around with her fork. Then taking some of the meat instead. She just felt...strange. Strange things had happened to all family present. "I will contact Ultear and find Ustasis. I have a need to check on them."
They at least had been together but her other sons were out there potentially changed.

She followed her parents to the mirror and stood looking at herself and her father reflected when her Mother left, she was unusually quiet and reserved. The argument as pathetic as it had been had taken quite a bit of her spunk out of her.
She snuggled into her Father's side and buried her face in his chest. At least he still smelled like himself. She didn't mind the changes just that there had been so much change on them all so fast. Mom getting the least of it with just the crystals changing color. Ugh. She should have just stayed in bed this morning but there was no going back now.
"Evil tree dust." She snorted. Not evil but pesky perhaps. Either way she was not very impressed with all of this.

He nodded when his father said water didn't help. Well he tried. As he watched everyone else go to the mirror to check their reflections he stayed put. While he was curious as to what all had changed on him he wasn't as pressed about it as everyone else seemed to be. Like his sister for instance.
As his mother asked how many others had been changed he shrugged. "Only way to find out is to go see." He turned his head to the door and wondered if he went back out in the dust if more changed would happen. Wouldn't that be neat? "I'll see if I can find Ustasis and Ultear." He shrugged his shoulders then headed out the door.
