Siel gave a thoughtful hum before waving off her worries. “I’m not going to live my life stressing about it and neither should you.” It was something that neither of them should forget since without it they wouldn’t be here, but the past should stay where it was. What good would it do for him to hate Aishans? If his fathers bore grudges then they didn’t show it, but Siel had no personal reason to distrust them. If anything he had some sour feelings toward Shifters…
The bard knocked back the rest of his tea and hopped out of his chair to follow her. Oddly enough it wasn’t the temptations of possible evening excursions that got his aching bones moving so much as the investigation itself. Now that he’d had a little something to perk him up Siel’s mind was a whirl with possibilities, and he genuinely wanted to help Quiana find this mysterious lost possible family of hers.
“Okay so running over the descriptions again….Elarian Matori hybrid and Elarian Matori Kahi children. I should have asked earlier but do you know what kind of Kahi? I’ve never been personally, but I think there’s a few tribes that live there.”

"Sounds like a good plan to me." Agreed Quiana, flashing Siel a thankful smile even though there was a bit of wariness still clinging to her. She had realized that her ancestors weren't the best of people, but never before had she truly understood the consequences of their actions and how it could linger throughout these particular countries even today. Perhaps there was a good reason others wore hoods, something that Quiana nearly considered before shaking her head again. She was proud of herself and didn't want to hide it. If anything she just added more confidence to the sway of her hips as she returned the teacup and focused on Siel again as they walked along.
What kind of Kahi? Quiana's expression shifted thoughtfully, her lips pursing as she tapped a finger against them. What did the children look like exactly? There had been Elarian blood and Matori obviously....but the Kahi traits...the solid eyes and the little horn on another. What race was that again? "I'm more familiar with the hapuna, a bright and colorful type of Kahi, but these children had darker colors and one even had a little horn. I do know those glowing markings and horns though, there were some merchants back at the ports in Kahi with those features. The kaki or ma....no, that isn't right...the kawena? They have a lot of settlements within caves and have glowing markings and solid eyes that make them stand out from other Kahi. One child had Elarian antenna, but also the glowing scales of the Kawena with bluish hair, I believe."
The sounds of the amphiteather caught her attention, the Elidae skimming over the group and trying not to feel disappointed whenever she realized such children were missing from the picture. However, there was a crowd of Matori and some foreigners within the area that were busy watching a small performance and so Quiana tried to feel optimistic. "Should we divide and conquer? Surely such traits would be noticeable and they can point us in the right direction."

“I’ve never actually seen one yet so in all honesty I’m just looking for someone weirder than us.” At this point it wasn’t a big pool. There weren’t many foreigners traipsing around, let alone one paired with an Elidae. Most were Matori by blood, even if they were hybrids, but the typical sorts. Oban pairings were common enough these days, but something…more aquatic? Was he looking for more fins or a tail?
“A horn?” His eyes widened incredulously. “That’s…huh. Is it…Is it a cool horn or a barely noticeable one?...Sorry, that’s so rude.” Glowing and solid eyes he could easily imagine just because of his own families connection to them, but scales? So cool. One day he was going to have to meet one of them and get a good look for himself.
“I’ll swing around by the performer’s stage; it wouldn’t be that weird for me to be there. I’ll get a good view from the front and if you circle around the back you’ll get a view of the entire crowd. Antennae shouldn’t be that hard to spot from there.”

“Fair enough.” Quiana nodded, a grin crossing her lips at Siel’s reaction to her description. She hadn’t personally seen every sort of earthling that there was, but she had the feeling the Kahi looked a lot different based upon what she had encountered minus some Matori with their finned ears. Siel’s reaction definitely seemed to prove that much. “Hehe, it’s fine. Maybe about this big? Always on the forehead like this…” She placed a finger on Siel’s forehead, her finger tapping the skin there a final time before pulling away after a moment. “Length would be anywhere from my index to little finger, but wider.” Quiana sashayed away once she received instructions, the Elidae walking through the crowd and looking over every small child until one actually approached her.
“You look strange lady.” Mused a small Matori boy with a gaping grin, a front tooth obviously still growing in after a visit from the tooth pixie. “Almost like one of those kids!”
“Mikhina!” An older woman tugged the boy back from where he had grabbed Quiana’s skirts. “You can’t just approach…”
“It’s alright.” Quiana interrupted with a sweet smile, obviously more intrigued than insulted. “I look like someone? I’m looking for a woman who may resemble me, but more blue since she’s part Matori like you. She has children, right?”
The older Matori narrowed her gaze thoughtfully glancing over Quiana, her son jumping forward with interest before she could make a decision. “Yeah! Noelani! She lives a bit aways but they come here on occasion, mama says we have to play nice but it’s always tempting to bat the antennae around. They look like fun, do you feel them on your head all the time? It’s so cool.” He gushed, much to the older Matori’s embarrassment as her cheeks continued to darken with each word.
“I….well I suppose I am attached to them.” Quiana reached up to lightly trace a hand around the antenna with a small smile. “You shouldn’t hit them though, they’re very sensitive.” She gazed over the two Matori with an encouraging smile. “It’s alright though to ask questions. I have a question actually…Noelani is family and I was hoping to visit. Can you direct me to her home?”
The Matori woman let out a soft sigh. “I suppose…not that it matters now but she lives in a nearby cove. They left for Oba recently though to work on an expedition. She recently bought supplies from my store.”
“Ah.” Even though Quiana felt a surge of disappointment she did her best to keep optimistic and gathered as much information as she could from the mother and son before returning to wait for Siel around the stage. “Looks like I’ll be visiting Oba then.” She mused quietly, wondering how Siel would take the news once she revealed the information she had gotten. Oba was close, right? Surely it wouldn’t be that bad of a trip…

Siel reached up to rub his forehead as he watched her sashay away. It was almost comical, really; to be around her after spending some time so close to the Elaria on Yael. He’d made sure to keep his distance the entire time just in case, but around Quiana…She’d already said that other Elidae weren’t exactly like her, but he couldn’t imagine them as stern as the Elaria either. Maybe I need to travel abroad again… Shaking his head with a grin, Siel dropped his head and made his way toward the main stage.
He hung around near the back, making sure to stay far away from the spotlight, but in a good enough position to look. A few of the performers ‘backstage’ waved him over so the hybrid disappeared behind a curtain separating the main performers from the costumers in back.
“Trying to make some quick coin?” One of the men grinned.
“You’ve been here everyday this week, Siel; give the rest of us a chance.”
“It’s not that,” He whispered, thankful when the performer started really getting into her lines. “I’m looking for a couple of kids. Hybrids.”
“…Are you looking for them or hiding from their mother?”
“It’s not that either. They’re not mine, but I am trying to find their mother.” And as Siel relayed what information he knew the performers started to pass some along to him. Little bits and pieces, but enough for Siel to deem it worthy enough to pass onto Quiana. When all was said and done he slipped a few coins their way before slipping back around the curtain. Time to meet back up and see what added up.
