Koril's expression softened. "I do miss them, but I had traveled quite a bit before I settled down in Zena. Me not being there was nothing new by the time I chose to start my own family in Zena." He knew Sol was more comfortable in Zena, and wouldn't change a thing.

Was it truly so difficult for younglings here? It was such a contrast to how difficult it had been for them to get approval to adopt in Matori. The heat flushed along his cheeks when Eema suggested the very idea that had suddenly tickled the back of his mind. If they could extend their family while also helping a youngling abandoned to the world... While picking someone to be a surrogate as Sol's fathers did had been discussed, Koril couldn't help his own reservations on the matter. "When we last talked about it, adoption was still definitely an option."

Sol was warm from his cheeks to the tips of his antennae. He hadn't expected this conversation to come up during their visit with Eema, but really, what sort of fool wouldn't have? The woman prided herself on the completion of families and helping others who couldn't help themselves. While it was a lovely thought, the reality...was getting a little too real for Sol.

"...It's definitely an option I would consider." Was all he said in the moment, but his hand give Koril's a squeeze. "But for now perhaps we can talk something else? Maybe a recommendation on dinner, since we haven't been in the area for a while." He trusted Eema, really he did, but this wasn't a conversation he wanted to have on the spot and not with an audience. Later. We'll talk about it later.

"Of course." Eema smiled. "What do you prefer? Or rather, what do your daughters prefer? They've never had Jauhar cuisine, have they? It can be...an adjustment."

Koril looked to Sol with an apologetic smile and tried to express it through a returned hand squeeze. He was grateful that Sol was willing to direct the conversation. He definitely wanted to talk about it now that the idea had entered the air, but he was bashful about doing so in front of Sol's birthmother. Heck, it could have been his own parents and he would still want to wait.

The topic of food was the perfect transition, and he perked up with the idea. It had been a long time since they had really stayed in Jauhar! "Oh, it's been so long. I remember there was this tavern famous for a root and grain stew. It was sooo good! I think the place was actually called The Root Cauldron. I don't know if it's even around anymore." He chuckled lightly and shook his head. "I know it won't be a problem for Fiadah. That girl will eat just about anything you put in front of her."

"Oh that's right. I remember they had a kind of berry drink that started out sweet but had a sour aftertaste." It was definitely a shock to the senses, but Sol had enjoyed it the last time they were through. He remembered being embarrassed by the faces he'd apparently been making while drinking it and a part of him want to drink the girls into tasting it. Even if he couldn't watch them Koril could.

Everything else...Well, they were going to be in Jauhar for a while to stretch their legs and resupply. There would be plenty of downtime for conversations and time to talk to the girls as well.

"I think as long as they don't bring out a maglardilla on a plate Nimia will try it." He chuckled. Their eldest could be a picky eater, but most stews were safe.

Now that the air was light again, Koril let himself lean back and relax into the couch as they continued reminiscing and hearing the new recommendations. He knew the visit would be relatively brief with Eema, but he couldn't put into words how much he appreciated having this part of Sol's life finally opened up to him. Being able to share in all aspects of their lives was just going to bring them closer together as a couple, and as a family.
