"I let the night job find me a place and put me up. I can cover it now and it's not in the best part of the city; but it works for now." He was hoping to take on more work, his apprenticeship due to end soon, so he could take on more and make more. He was also setting up filmed sessions he would put up on skillshare so he could earn money doing something which was easy for him. He was going to save as much as he could do he could find himself an actual home, and put money down on it, he figured in the long run it was better than what he had going on for himself.
"Sleeping on a couch sucks, we've all done it at some point I think." Even if it was just a night here or there due to being tired. He knew he'd fallen asleep at the shop a few times, tired from cleaning and tending to everyone. It had, in the start of his apprenticeship, been ahrd. He'd had to do a lot of cleaning and the labor work around the place...the work no one else wanted to do. They were bringing in a new apprentice soon and he was done really - they all knew it.
"Don't ask me about the Koreans with sugar on corn dogs, I don't understand it either." Shrugging as he spoke, he honestly had never tried a corn dog anyway. He was not Korean and the foods they had, at least some of them, he didn't get. The rice cakes he did like though. "It sounds like you enjoyed what you could while you were away, that's a good thing." Especially when in a new place, it was good to find some things to do, at least that's what he heard. He wasn't social enough for such things really.
"I'd wait till you have a good amount saved, and a reputation and then try for your own appartment. I know this fall there is a tattoo convention in the city." He'd be there with those from his studio and it would help Kai to be there as well. "You can work there and book people for bigger pieces."

"I guess I could ask the Night Job about a place. Kinda feel bad hitting them up for that service, but I guess if they can help then I am not exactly proud enough to pass it." He said, taking the strew to his milkshake and swirling it slowly.
We talk a lot about work, but I don't know what else to talk about. It's all we've been doing lately. How do I know more about him than just our jobs? I know we both have a passion for our work, but - ugh this is tough.
"If you - didn't have to work so hard. Like at all, what would you do for fun?" It seemed they were both exhausting themselves by trying to become fully fledged artist. If they didn't have to bust their a** so hard, he wondered what Kioshi would do if he was more financially comfortable.

'"I'll use it as long as I need it, even if I'm paying rent, it's better than the baracks. It makes work easier and if anyone were to find out I didn't have a normal address and such it might raise questions. This way it helps but now I'm working to earn more and save up so I can get my own place in time." Because he didn't like owing favors to anyone even if he worked for them, even if it was the Negaverse. He didn't want to remain under their roof, even if he paid for it, he was certain it would fall right back to them if and when he left the appartment he had presently.
Oh! Now that was an interesting question and one he didn't expect. If he thoguht about it he was certain no one knew more about him than the obvious surface level things, he didn't like to get attatched to people and let them know him. He kept to himself a lot, and he was ok with it. But if he had to think about it, anssd answer, that meant opening up a bit. But Kai was a friend, which most people would never achieve with him, so he didn't mind the question really.
"If I didn't have to work at all, if I could work by choice and on my terms." Trialing off he tilted his head a bit in thought, this really was a tough one. Whatveer hobbies or activities Hisoka had enjoyed he didn't know, he was clueless on Hisoka's life, and he'd been so busy building his own that he'd never given much thought to things like this.
"I think I'd spend more time watching movies, reading. If I had money to go with it, seeing as I'd need to have money to allow me to not work, I might find enjoyment in decorating a home and making it into jus that - a home. I know it might sound boring, and unexpected, given my appearence but I'm not the sort to go and blow a load of cash at a club or something." He wasn't going to go clubbing, drinking, or gambling as none of those things interested him at all. He didn't even like concerts much - too damn loud and too many people. All the shouting and the crush of bodies...or was too much for him.
"I might travel as well. " Shrugging a bit. "I really am boring and simple when it goes past my looks really. Maybe I'd go to a gym if I got bored around the house, try something new and not be so lazy." Because outside of busting his a** for his job he was fairly lazy, he just worked a lot of hours for both jobs so he didn't seem it.
"What about you? All the money you need and want so you don't need to work. What would you do." Now he leaned forward, dark eyes focused on the other as he questioned him in return.

"I'd get a big place. Somewhere with a yard and a fence for privacy. And a big comfortable couch, TV, and game system. And two fridges for food and drinks. That way I don't even have to worry about it going empty." With someone who drew with a lot of food insecurity in a cramped living space, these things were always a wonderful dream to him. It brought a sense of job, safety, and comfort he often was nervous about in his own life. His life was very much paycheck to paycheck, and to have that relief and excess sounded magical to him.
"I really never got to go on family vacations, so I'd like to travel and go to like those places everyone says is great. I know it's crowded, but saying I went to Disney World once sounds like something so many people had. It always made me jealous as a kid." He said, thinking of all the things he had wanted but never bothered even begging for because he knew it was out of their budget. That's what happened when you had a ridiculous number of kids. They all took on the burden of each new addition. Kai knew that he probably wasn't a welcomed addition, just as much as he didn't like his younger siblings. It was already crowded living off of hand-me-downs that would be given to someone else.
"A house just sounds nice. Someplace with my own space and plenty more. I don't think your dream is boring. I think it's just - a great thing to want. "I'd like to do more art. Tattooing but like, just learning more. And not having to go broke trying to do it. Maybe have someone teach me how to cook better since I'd have the time." He lived off of written instructions on boxes or all things microwavable. It wasn't the healthiest, but it was cheap and filled him up.
He ate his burger, happy that he managed to get a question out and get it answered.
"How would you decorate it? Your dream home." He asked. "You have got to have it in your head someplace, right. And where would you travel?" He asked, taking advantage of his rare change to direct the conversation somewhere.

"I don't need a yard but a big home would be nice." A game system wasn't his thing, he didn't htink it ever had been either, but art on the walls perhaps or something artistic and darker in general feel. He didn't like bright or startk white like a lot of modern homes had - too white and pristine. It made you too nervous to touch it and dirty it. He much prefered darker colors and themes, there was a level of comfort there for him.
"I can agree with the traveling though maybe not Disney, I do agree abnout the feeling when other people say they went on vacation. Jealousy is a monster I know rather well at times, like a good friend." And he didn't mind if his eyes got a bit green when people around him talked about vacations, he didn't care that he wished their vacations didn't go oh so wonderfully, and that he didn't feel bad at all in wishing that they'd shut up or choke on air so they'd stop talking. He'd never claim to be innocent and non-violent, perhaps that had only been enhanced by corru pting, but it was there and he was accepting of it. "I can't remember it but my birth certificate, or rather Hisoka's, says we were born in Osaka." Hisoka was like a whole different person, him but not him, and so was talked about in what might seem an unusual manner. But they weren't him, even if it was the same body, the personality might not be the same and the memories certainly weren't. He was like a whisper of Hisoka and someone else entierly new combined.
Polishing off his food, since it wasn't all that big a meal really, he sat back with a hint of a smile. "I can cook, a bit, but I don't remember so well so it's a feeling...something just that pops into my head." If that made sense. It was like how he could still speak Japanese - he just knew. It was a bit harder when it came to cooking, he didn't remember it as clearly and easily, but it were under a few layers of things just waiting to surface and remind him how to make something.
"How would I decorate, that's easy. I don't like the stark white modern look, it's too bright and reminds me of a hospital. I don't like bright colors either. I like a darker asthetic and maybe something gothic, not too gothic though, maybe a bit of steam punk fit in somehow as well. "Somehow I don't think you're much for that stark white modern look either. I don't understand how anyone can enjoy it." Much less how anyone could subject themselves to living in such a home. "I have a vague idea of what I'd want but not a clear idea." Or maybe Hisoka had at some point but he didn't.

"I think yards are nice. You can sit outside and just hang outside for a bit. I like the parks here so having a spot for myself sounds nice. It just always reminded me of those perfect homes on TV where people would hang outside and enjoy themselves." He'd grown up watching places of perfectly crafted family life and happiness, and would place himself in their fantasy. It was nice, comforting, and all the problems felt small. They could all laugh at it in the end. "Were your parents broke like mine?" He asked, not sure anything much about Kioshi's childhood and life before the time he met him. He remembered when he met Kioshi that he introduced himself as Hisoka. He wondered. "Why did you change your name?" Osaka. That was Japan, right? That was further than Kai had ever been. Then again, Kai hadn't even left the states. "Ah, no. I don't like pure white. Reminds me of jail. Just cold." He said, frowning at thinking of his short time in juvie and a short stint in jail. "I like sorta worn, cozy stuff. Like wood and soft chairs. Colors but not like, neon crazy. I don't need to go with the 70s pink kitchens or that weird green toilets." He said as he finished his burger and took a sip of his milkshake. "You into gothic and steampunk?" He asked. "Do you dress in like, full gothic stuff." He did see Kioshi in black, but it wasn't as far as some people in gothic attire went. Then again, what did he know about goths. His clothing could often be best described as either street or just lax gym attire. As far as clothing went, it was conservative and rather lackluster. There might be some people scandalized by when he wore tank tops that showed more of his chest, or something more skin-tight. If anything, people were more upset with him by his long braids.

"Mmm, I rather sit and watch things outside going on from inside. But I can understand the fondness for sitting outside and watching everything." It wasn't his cup of tea perhaps but he understood it, he would rather watch it snow or storm from inside and just enjoy the show.
"Not to my knowledge, the pictures I have have me thinking not." But he couldn't remember really, but he did assume that they'd had money. How much money they'd had he didn't know though.
"Corrupting when you're already powered up wipes everything. No memories of the past, a new name is needed, and everything else. It's a fresh start but it makes some things hard to do, like cooking, as you can't remember but you get feelings and you just know somehow know if something is right or wrong. You doin't remember why or how you learned what you're doing. It's fustrating at times." And it could even be maddening at times but he'd gotten used to, expected it even, he hadn't done water color tattoos since corrupting till he'd found proof that he had infact done the style before. He'd actually had a less than positive opinion on it till then. But water color would help him bring in more people, people who weren't interested in Japanese style tattoos, so he'd picked up the style again and worked on it. It had taken some time but he'd found his footing with it rather quickly - quicker than he'd expected.
"I like heavy dark woods, I want sturdy things which last." So they wouldn't need to be rebought and replaced. He wanted things which would last while also having good style. Raising a brow at the other he couldn't help but - he laughed. "Me? Could you really see me dressing like that? I might wear black, a lot, but it suits me. Gothic style clothing however would not, plus it's too uncomfortable looking." And he wanted clothing he could move in, or just lay down in. Some clothing was so uncomfortable to crash on a couch, or into bed, in that it made random naps impossible. "No, I just find something calming in the styles in the home. Something calm and dark but in a soothing way. If that makes any amoutn of sense let me know." As he was certain it didn't and yet he couldn't word it better either.
"I don't like loud things and I don't like flashy."

"You have pictures then? Have you wanted to find out more about that life?" He asked, not sure what his impression was about a life forgotten.
"That must be really - strange. Knowing things without knowing what - you know. Ya know?" Did that even make sense? To him it did, and he thought about that for a minute as he finished his milkshake. "Is it surprising to find out you're good at something, or do you just have a feeling what you are somewhat good at? Like some vague memory that this is something you can do." He wasn't sure how else to explain it, and while it was interesting, he wasn't sure if it was also a bit of a personal issue.
He wondered, if given the chance, if he'd be fine forgetting his past. The family, the so-called friends who turned him in, and the falling out of everything before he finally settled in Destiny. Would he be the same person if he didn't remember, and would he be the kind to make those same mistakes. Or maybe it was freeing to not be shackled by past regrets. If you didn't remember the past, you couldn't revisit it and point out all the places you went wrong.
"Uh, not really. No. I don't see you as someone dressing in a lot of spikes, belts, and fishnets. You don't seem that into just being a spooky person or into specific bands. You're like - hmmm. Cozy black. Practical black?" He thought if he had to name it as some kind of fashion genre, that's what he would call it. "You said you liked steampunk. Why?"

"Hisoka left pictures for me, so yeah I have some. They give a vague idea of things, names written on the backs of them, I can assume I didn't have a good relationship with my parents. I'm also fairly certain I didn't have many friends." If he had any. He was certain his personality hadn't done a total 180 after corrupting. He was fairly certain he was either an introvert by choice or for some reason.
"No, it makes sense and it is odd when it comes to cooking. That's when I notice it the most. Reading, writing, speaking in Japanese were there just the same as English so no surprise there. It wasn't as if I saw something in kanji and suddenly remembered and knew. That happens more with cooking though, but again it's not a strong feeling and like something sudden. It's like a whisperr of a thought or a feeling...something just there at the edges." It was all very interesting, in a way, how the mind worked but for himself it could be harder at times and also more interesting as well. "I had a dislike for water color tattoos for a long time. Then when I found my old portfolio I realized I had done water color work, so I started to work on it and offered it again." Another way to make mone yand help himself, he could appeal to more people and get more clients for himself.
"I'll go with cozy or practicle black. They both seem to fit the best." He didn't like to dress up, casual was a sweater and maybe a collared dress shirt under it, but it would be paired with boots and tight pants of some sort. He couldn't figure a particular style for himself it was whatever appealed to him, looked good on himself, and was in a dark color; preferably black.
"The gears, I like the idea of gears and watching them work and make something happen. Have you ever seen a watch where you can see the gears inside of it. Something like that I find interesting and also a piece of art in a way. The parts all made to fit together and if you change a piece then it won't work. Also, you aren't dealing in golds and silvers so nothing too bright and flashy. Copper and brass are nicer in terms of appeal." A shame he couldn't do earrings in either...but they turned colors on him.
"The clothing style is too formal for me, though it is interesting and a bit intricate, but I find appeal in some other parts of it. A certain calm that you don't get with loud colors and designs. It looks scattered and a bit all over the place but it doesn't seem to be, if it makes sense."

Kai nodded along, not sure how to feel about trying to figure yourself out by some pictures alone. It must be odd to have amnesia of this kind and live your life after the fact. He could relate to being dumped into the world and having to figure your life out without support.
"I've seen a old grandfather clock, but no one I knew had nice watches. Heck, I don't think anyone I know wears a watch. Seen a few in a pawn shop once." Back when he was going in with a friend who was selling off some stolen jewelry.

"Mmm, it's a look that somehow I find appealing. How I don't know but there is something about a darker, without being goth, aesthetic which I find appealing. Maybe....soothing is a word which could be used." Maybe even seductive without being sexual or outright seductive. There was something to it which he couldn't name fully.
"I don't think I've ever seen a grandfather clock or a pocketwatch up close." He couldn't be sure if Hisoka ever had seen one but he'd never seen one.

"I only ever see them in like old movies or the scary ones. They look classy but I think it would give me the creeps if I had one where I lived. Also that ticking. Rather listen to the city instead." He said, looking up as the waitress came to ask about the bill. He stated one bill only, and provided his debit card to pay. She took it and left, returning soon after with the receipt and card.
"Where do you live now? We can go to the station together if you want." He asked.

"I'd rather listen to a thunder storm." Though he also wouldn't mind listening to other peopels tattoo machines instead of his own, that he could fall asleep to, it was by now a comforting sound for him.
Providing his address was something he did consider for a moment, but the other was something of a co-worker though not directly, they both worked i nthe same industry. They also had the same night life so he very much doubted he had anything to worry about. Infact at this point he'd consider the other something of a friend, something he rarely ever did, so he did type out his address and show his phone screen to the other. It wasn't the best part of the city but it worked, and it didn't cost him as much to have a place here. It also, thankfully, wasn't too far from work.

Kai looked the information over and tried to commit it to memory, knowing full well he'd only remember the area and not the exact place from just a glance. If he needed it, he'd ask later. He should have considered the Negaverse wouldn't have the budget for anything much, which meant the area Kioshi was in wasn't the best of places. It was cheap for a reason after all, and in the city that's what most people had to sacrifice in order to just afford living here. He knew that feeling, but he'd slept in worse places.
Walking out, he moved down the street towards the subway station. "Well, Fall is close by. Plenty of rain coming." He hoped. Rain kept a lot of people off the streets, which meant it was easier to do Night Job stuff.
"Hey uh, thanks for coming and all. I appreciate catching up."

"I can text you my address?" As if figuring what the other was thinking, though really it would be easier to text it anyway. He knew he'd never remember someone addresses at a glance, that was nearly impossible.
Walking out of the buger place he took the time to look the other over before speaking. "Thanks for lunch, next time it's on me." He wasn't going to just let people pay for him, especially every time, it wasn't how friendships went. They were to be balanced.
"I know, I like the fall." he also liked the smell of wood fires and leaves burning. If he ever made bank he'd get a home with a fireplace so he could indulge in wood burning and the smell of it. That would be nice, to fall asleep by a fireplace to the sounds of a thunderstorm, he doubted he'd reach that goal anytime soon but he would work himself towards it.
"I liked catching up as well, something I wouldn't normally enjoy with anyone else." Trailing along at the others side towards the station.
