Listening to the other he could understand what he was saying, and he did certainly agree, it wasn't something you just walked into and picked something at random. You also didn't just pick somethign which someone else had, at least not without alterations to it so it was unique. Though he also didn't like the basic blue eyed lions, pocket watches, and other oh so common things which peopel got done. He did wonder, when he saw them on people, if they even meant anything or they just picked something random or macho looking. He tended to like when things had meaning, or a reason for being, even if it wasn't something he knew or fully understood. He didn't like random things on the body for life, it seemed a big leap for someone to take.
Watching the other work for a few moments, figuring what they were doing, Kioshi took the phone when the other was done and looked over the idea. "I can do something a bit nicer but yeah, I can do gears in watercolor and make it look good." As someone who could appreciate steam punk the gear idea wasn't a bad one, he liked it even.
"Want me to work somehting out for you going off this idea? And then if you want to tattoo today we can, if you're comfortable with it."

On the one hand, how dare this man say he could make something nicer. On the other hand, it was true, Landry had steady hands, but they were far more ready for the abstract and for the pretty delights one would find on a plate, not doodled across the skin. So instead of the standard snapping he was often likely to do, he simply nodded.
"If possible, perhaps we could even add what seems like it peeking out from under the skin? I'm not too fond of the more gruesome looks but... Ah, what if it were a panel? A drawn panel revealing the gears inside?" It would be a callback both to what he knew his pastlife was, and how he had come to terms with how he functioned, at times a simple machine for the Negaverse. Not that all of that would be spilled out to this tattoo artist.
"Feel free to come up with some ideas, and take your time. I do not think going off of a single freeforming idea made today wold be best. So I'll certainly pay you for your time and the consultation, but perhaps we can schedule a review first, then add a temp design and see how it feels before we make it permanent."

"With the idea of it peeking out from under the skin I'll need some time to work that out." It wasn't something he did normally, but he knew someone in the studio who was good with that sort of thing, he'd wind up picking his co-workers brain on this one. The time he was being offered would be needed for this; for some research. He wasn't about to put s**t on someones skin and leave them with it for life, he put in the work needed to make his tattoos look good. He wanted peoples trust in him to not be missplaced.
"That's fine, I'll take the time to work on some designs and when we next meet I'll have a few options for you. If you like one we can do sometghing about having it on your skin as a temp of some sort." How he'd do that he wasn't sure but he'd figure that out. The only thing he could think of was the stencil being on the others skin for a while but that would wash off, they didn't last forever, but it was close to a temp idea.
"Any idea on where you want it? So I can get an idea of the space I'll be working with. I don't want something too small or too big for the area."

"Of course. I would not wish you to rush it." Now that an idea had been made, there was the consideration that maybe this was outside of this individual's capabilities. Or atleast usual repertoire. There was little expectation that he'd do a perfect job on the first try, so he'd have patience this time around.
"That sounds like a plan. I would like to atleast tip you properly for your time. You're still using your time for this, after all... And as for how large and where... The back of my shoulder, perhaps the size of a standard letter envelope? That seems plenty big enough."

"Alright, I can do the size and work on something." The size wasn't too bad, he'd done bigger, and the posistion wouldn't be too hard either. Nothing where he had to worry pverly much, though the other might feel some pain due to the shoulder blades being rather close to the surface. "I will warn you, this one you might feel. Depending on where we place it."
That said he knew he'd need time to work on the design, or a few options really, and then he'd present them to the other. "You can pay as you see fit, this wasn't the longest of consultations. Your email is in your paperwork so I can email you design options and you can respond when your free. I can change things if you like one, but just want some tweeks, I can make it work." But it would, of course, tkae him some time to work out a few options for the other.

"Thank you." At the conclusion of it all, he finally stood up, placing a small pile of cash onto the table. His version of 'a tip' was no less than a hundred dollars. But he didn't seem to think much of it.
"Then I look forward from hearing from you in a few weeks. Do take care, won't you? It would be a shame if this project never gets off the ground." There was a sly bit in his smile. Almost a threat, but in a way one couldn't quite place. But he did bow his head towards the artist, before taking his leave.
Sleet Tempest Snape And that's a fin from me. Thank you!
