Nanami blinked in surprise. Noelani was actually willing to do this? A grateful expression crossed her features, the Kawena smiling towards her beloved before sitting down next to her. “Do we need to ask a question or receive a general reading?” She asked quietly, her gaze focused as she watched the cards being spread across the table.
The fortune teller smirked as she looked up at the Kawena. “You could ask a question if something is troubling you but I feel that a general inquiry would suit you both best. Are you not happy at the moment?” The hybrid shifted her shoulders as she placed one final card. “I feel that asking for anything else is tempting fate whereas a general idea of the future can help you to continue on this path with only warnings of dire situations to keep you from stumbling.”
“I suppose then.” Nanami glanced at Noelani thoughtfully before nodding. “We are happy, so I’ll listen to whatever you want to tell us.” Her fingers laced together as she rested her hands on her lap, curious to see what the cards would say. Even though she believed the stars could guide them, Nanami was wary of fortune telling and not certain how she felt about such things. It would be interesting though to witness this at least once though.

The fortune teller smiled, glancing between the pair before nodding. “A general inquiry it is then.” She gestured towards the table, her various jewel encrusted bangles jingling with the movement. “These are star cards, specifically brought out for festivities like these.” She tilted her head thoughtfully as she specifically studied Nanami. “You have a connection with the stars, they’ll be even kinder towards you.” She mused quietly before reaching out and flipping one. “Ah, the northern point.” It was an engraved image of the northern star, the points shining brightly like the true one hovering in the night sky above them. “You’ve both journeyed far, one of you even more so as you left the home you knew and settled elsewhere.”
“That’s fairly obvious.” Quipped Noelani quietly with a glance at Nanami. Still, she didn’t protest more and simply sat back in her chair as she waited for more of the reading. Who knew what else this fortune teller would tell them?
“Mmhmm, fair enough.” The Fortune Teller didn’t seem bothered by the commentary and instead focused on another card. This one was violet and indigo with a star that seemingly shifted in brightness as she moved the card slightly. “A variable star. You enjoy success, but nothing is consistently alike. Each day is a different type of reward, like an explorer discovering new treasures each journey.”
“Okay, that’s…accurate.” Noelani frowned as she peeked towards Nanami. It was just a vague reading so maybe it would have fit with other scenarios, but they did participate in a lot of treasure hunting so nothing was truly ever the same with their work.

“Interesting.” Nanami was actually enjoying this, the Fortune Teller’s reading was already intriguing enough to get her thinking. Could the stars truly be talking to them through cards? What even were those cards? She had seen some fortune cards before but nothing ever like this. It was so mysterious! “So the other one is the future?” She questioned glancing at the final card.
“Yes.” The Fortune Teller nodded before flipping over the card and studying it, a thoughtful expression on her face. “Binary…connected stars.” She peered closely at Noelani before smiling. “Your family is growing soon.” She acknowledged. “A smaller star clings to the brighter one, usually it’s reserved for mothers and their children. Though there may be another surprise that arrives as well to expand your relations.”
Oh! Nanami let out a quiet gasp before glancing towards her companion. “Do you think that you’re…?” She started as the pieces started to come together. Noelani hadn’t been feeling quite like herself lately and the symptoms…oh how could she have not realized?!

How could the Fortune Teller read that? Noelani blinked in surprise, her hands drifting towards her stomach. As much as she didn’t want to believe in things like the stars telling their story the facts did seem to point towards that suspicion. “I think we may need to visit a healer soon.” She admitted quietly to Nanami. It was possible that their family was growing indeed! She just hoped Zoicite and Raffrdeigh would be happy with the news! She glanced at the final card, the little star seemingly gleaming on the image as the bigger star however protectively above it. More children, truly? What a surprise! “I suppose we should enjoy the rest of this festival together before life gets a bit busier again. If this truly is the case.” She joked quietly, giving the Fortune Teller an appreciative nod before standing and preparing to head out again with Nanami.Her stomach was full of butterflies, but it wasn’t an unpleasant feeling. She had endured this once before and received two beautiful children in return…so this time would be fine as well.

“Thank you.” Nanami reached to give coins to the Fortune Teller before the woman placed something else into her hand. “What is this?” She glanced towards the entrance of the tent, Noelani was already outside though, and then looked back to the strange hybrid.
“A gift for your family.” The Fortune Teller smiled. “It’s rare that I see another star blessed, I’m happy that you’re thriving in these foreign lands with a loved one.” She pressed the pouch into Nanami’s hand before pulling her hands back so that she could gather the cards again. “They’re star gems. You can gift them to your children and lover, make jewelry with the pieces to protect them.”
Nanami’s gaze softened with appreciation. “Thank you, truly.” She whispered, clutching the precious gift and nodding a final time before leaving to join Noelani once more. They could enjoy the festival together and then she would commission some jewelry for her family, the Kawena already excited about the idea of meeting more little ones who she knew would be deeply loved by their entire family.
