Harika smiled encouragingly. "I'm sure I can tweak some designs so that they're still elegant and not too much." She promised as she agreed with Aurick. "I can always sketch something up, a gift in return for all the help with us finding a place." The playfulness though faded as they truly studied the house and finally approached the outer gate. It definitely stood out, didn't it?
"Well we can see what the inside and the backyard looks like. There could always be another spot that we can check out after this one." Harika mused as she looked between Petra and Aurick. "No need in settling on the first place we see, so let's consider this the first of several adventures today." She did at least want to check out a couple of different places. They would be raising their family in the place they chose after all!
The gate creaked open, the few stairs leading up to the porch seemed to bend almost under her cautious steps but so far everything held up as they looked over the crooked front door. "I'm not going to lie, I was confident until I got this far." She whispered towards Aurick with a sheepish grin. "Do we dare venture inside?"

Aurick wasn't horribly concerned about Harika walking into the place until the steps started to dip under her. If it did that with her weight, how was it going to hold up under him? Cautiously, Aurick made his way onto the porch and was even more ill at ease when one of the steps loudly groaned under him. "I think we should look at the back yard and maybe peek in a window?" He whispered back. "But I don't want you walking in there until I know it's been looked at. Project houses are fine, but I'm afraid we would spend more time working on it than prepping for the baby."
It had potential - somewhere - maybe - but Aurick wasn't convinced.
Petra, on the other hand, had moved up onto the porch and had her hands cupped against a window to look inside. "It's very spacious; nice tall ceilings but I can't get a read on the rooms..."

"Fair enough." Harika nodded. "Maybe the back has an easier access. I do like this awning though now that we're under it." She murmured, trying her best to pick out the good from the bad. Surely this place could have charm again if they fixed it up, right? It was only a short walk from the bakery as well which would be truly worth it if they could figure things out. A little squeak did have her jumping back into Aurick though, the woman taking a deep breath as an averin peeked out and fluttered away from the beams above them. "I guess if he found it a nice enough spot then maybe there's potential yet." She managed with a flush and a embarrassed smile towards Aurick who she was still clinging to.
"Let's try that backyard. There should be a kitchen entrance too...maybe?"

Aurick's arms immediately went around Harika and when he looked up to the averin he felt his whole body relax on a tense exhale. "As long as he and his friends stayed outside that's fine." The last thing he wanted was anymore surprises. When he felt it was safe enough Aurick let go of Harika and started to circumnavigate the property toward the back.
It was overgrown, as he thought it might be, but nice. Unlike the house, it was easy enough to see some potential here once the briars and dead flowers were removed. The grass was a stained, dried out yellow color now, but with a little love - and maybe a hired magical hand - it could shape up.
"It's on the smaller side, but not bad. A good place to start, anyway." They still had a plethora of other properties and spaces to look at, but at least now Aurick had some idea of what a life with his family could be. Instead of caring for his siblings he would be caring for his child and that made him nervous. He wanted the place to be safe enough that they wouldn't get hurt, but also free enough to let them explore.
"Aurick, dear, is that a gravestone?"
Aurick turned toward the back of the little garden to see...a tiny little funeral mound and what looked to be a grave marker. "That's for a pet, right?"
"Oh I...I would think so."

Harika was definitely feeling encouraged as they walked around. She was cautious for once, hovering around Aurick and relying on him for support as they navigated the backyard. "A trellis or two could grow some vines with tomatoes and such." She acknowledged, picking out a few more things until Petra pointed out the gravestone. "Maybe we should see about getting a history on this place and see the other properties as well." Harika managed after a moment, smiling between the two even as a cool breeze seemingly came out of nowhere to send more shivers up her spine. But this was fine, it was just part of the adevnture...right?
