Remarque shrugged, not because he disagreed but because there wasn’t really much more to be said of it. “Unfortunately, the hooks of Chaos run deep. I suppose it must be hard to break free when you’ve got an addiction you don’t even understand. A blessing of the Dark Mirror Court, to be free of outside influence. I can do as a please with no greater force to oversee or command me.”
He sounded pleased with himself, but he would make no effort to conceal how much he thrived when his life was in his own hands. “Not that I think the White Moon is perfect,” he clarified. “Every day I hear whispers of a new problem cropping up amongst you. But it’s better than the Negaverse.”
And far less a threat, if he were being honest.
He doubted he could comfortably accept any invitation to the Dark Kingdom, but he found Kerberos’ offer rather appealing. “Perhaps we could talk more about it on one of those free evenings, though.”

It was interesting, the way Remarque spoke of Chaos. The Mirror's relationship to it must have been quite different--that was the impression he'd gathered overall. Certainly, a Mirror starseed looked different than anything he'd ever held before, and it suggested that there was something...else, going on with them.
"If you thought the White Moon were perfect," Kerberos said, lightly, "I imagine you'd have joined us rather than sticking with your Court. But I could never pretend we're anything but a mess--it's the price of freedom, really. We all get to choose who we want to be, and that means that sometimes people choose....interestingly, to say the least." He shook his head. It was the reason that he stood by what he'd told Lyndin and Caedus, years ago--the destruction of Metallia would introduce new, unique problems, unleashing people on the world without even the nominal leash of the Negaverse's structure to restrain them.
"But I'm sure you're more than aware of that; I've always gotten he impression that the Mirror is pretty loosely confederated, too, there's just a lot fewer of you so I imagine it's easier to have a closer bond?" Granted, that was all speculation. "But I'm like you--I'd rather not answer to any higher power, given the chance. Especially not one that seems to want the worst version of me."
He exhaled. "But don't let me keep you if you're busy; I'd be glad to meet you again for a longer chat. I'm glad we ran into each other, Remarque."

Remarque couldn’t say that he was busy, but neither did he have a desire to give Kerberos the impression that he had too much free time. There would be other nights to speak again, and maybe venture into the stars.
He could be patient.
Kerberos was pleasant company. Unfortunately deeply aligned with the White Moon, but Remarque could always try to tempt him another day. For now, he would take an ally in whatever form they came in.
“The pleasure was mine, Kerberos. You keep yourself safe out there. Don’t be a stranger.”
