He was happy with the progress, even of just this day. They were always busy to the point where he might have to bring up another family reunion for a day of enjoyment for all. It was time to have another one. It would be lots of fun, especially with the recent family expansions. They didn't happen all to often but after hatching season stuff should slow down just enough to take one day off besides required functional chores. He would pitch the idea to his parents and see what they thought.
For now he was looking forward to the food that Ushiruin would prepare. His son was a great little cook and loved to feed people. It was a perk and the family thoroughly enjoyed switching out the dinner makers once in a while.
He trailed along after his son and helped carry ingredients to the house, everyone else had likely eaten already.

Ushiruin 9
He was a cooking tornado in the kichen, pans heating, chopping, dicing, sauteing. It was brunch for two and he was super excited for it. The aromas that were already drifting were more than a little scintilating and he was happy to treat his hard working Dad for a change. The tamers in the family usually had very little free time and even less so with the birth of so many animals all over the farm at this point in the year.
He looked outside during a lull in cooking activities. "I think it may storm Dad." The clouds over the sea had a shade darker coloration than he was comfortable with for a regular day. He was slowly getting better at reading the weather, something his new specialization no doubt helped with to an extent, though he was not a weather kid like some of the others around. He could still see the writing in the clouds and predict relatively accurately, it also helped that he like his Father had grown up here in this area of Matori. The more you lived in a certain spot the more everything made sense eventually.

Ushi turned and looked at the clouds as well. "I think you are right son, sure looks like a southwester coming in to me." He too had learned the signs and signals of the sky from others as well as from trial and error. It was a pattern that repeated periodically every year sometimes with great variation and sometimes with steady surety.
He was happy that his son and certainly one of his daughters were picking up on the same cues that he had seen over and over again.
"You are going to burn that if you are not careful," he warned. The frying was getting spicey in the kichen and he didn't want to ruin all the effort that Ushiruin had put in already by letting something burn while he was on watch.
"Definitley looks like a storm the way the clouds are shaping up."

He saved the frying food just in time and thanked his father for his quick catch. It was never fun to burn food that you had worked hard on, especially the longer recipes, this was a short one and not so bad.
He hummed tunelessly as he plated up the food and sat down with his Dad to inhale it as busy working people usually did. Most everything was grown and processed on the farm except for the spices which were traded for directly in Oba where Kiyelt liked to get them from.
He shoveled the food in and moaned in appreciation as the flavours melded and his belly steadily filled from empty. He smiled up at his Dad.

He too moaned in appreciation at the delicious food. "You are already a better cook than Uncle Thal." Thal could make all of one thing; stew. It was good stew but it was the same stew, the only variation being the available protein and veggies at the time and Ushi swore he had eaten more than his fair share of said stew over his life. It had forced him to learn to cook at least as well which was for the better and he found that he like Ushiruin enjoyed cooking. What confused him was Thal nonchalant attitude to not cooking anything else besides the one recipe. How could he eat it over and over?
They finished up their food and then the ever present chore list dragged them back out the door. Ushi to tell Nin about the janarim female and Ushiruin to practice his sea magic as he was newly fledged. Ushiwa wished him luck and they went about their days.
