Yari finally gets in the water this morning, and looks around for sharks and crocodiles, "Gotta make sure I spot no sharks or crocodiles first..." Then, he heads for the waves with his board, for he saw nothing but surfers: .

Yari spends some time figuring out how to stand up on his surfboard and ride the little beginner waves: .
Yari gets braver at standing on his board, and repeatedly ends up falling into the water, but it feels comfortable in temperature. It feels pleasant, it feels nice. It isn't cold like California waters, waters Yari never liked being in because that cold. His paternal native water feels much warmer compared to California, and are very soft and enjoyable.

On one occasion of crashing into the water, Yari goes down deeper than usual, and sees a mermaid watching the surfers: . After finished being tumbled around, he smiles and waves at her before surfacing.
She tips him off his board, and they surface, smiling and laughing. Yari: "Hey, Cous." She laughs: "You are so new to this. Did no one tell you how to stand up?" Yari: "Well, no. They told me about my board, and how to take care of it instead of how to use it." Yari is told more about beginner surfing by her: . Yari then goes back to trying to surf while she goes to land and transforms into seeming to be human. She turns out to have had clothes hidden in a rocky area from potential thieves. Yari decides he doesn't believe you have to wait for a perfect wave. "I'm not going to blame the wave. I, the surfer, am at fault if I fail to ride the wave. I'm not going to wait for some imaginary perfect wave, I'm going to make lemonade!" Yari briefly rides a wave before falling in the water again: .
Yari does his best job riding a wave yet: , and tries turning along side of the wave, riding it in a wave up and down the wave's length. He's very visibly happy when he finally crashes into the water below.

After having ridden the wave a long while, he watches as his dad heads over with his surfboard and Amaraca.
Yari gets off his board onto the shallow below sand, and walks toward his Dad, and is given Amaraca to his free arm by his Dad, "It's my turn." Yari heads back to the picnic blanket with his baby sister, then sets her down, and sticks his board up in the sand carefully, learning how to do so. Yari and his sister watch their Dad surf.
Mister Anani returns to the picnic blanket, "Yeah, it's around her nap-time. Go ahead, and go have fun. I got a number to text with." Yari heads back out to the water, and swims around: . Yari surfaces, and swims around with his head above water, singing: "."
Yari lays on the sandy shallows, singing at his Dad to be cute, teasing that his Dad is talking to a maid-folk, and others around the secluded beach join in, knowing their teasing him for who he's flirtily texting: "."
