Ida returned his smile with her own, stepping aside a little to give him room to view the hospital bed.
"You might get to see it... if you were reincarnated as a knight, you may be able to recover memories of your last life, the way I do." If not, then at least he should have an ancestor spirit who can guide him. It could be argued that was a more useful thing than being able to remember things from your last life. Someone who could advise and teach you. It could have been a useful thing, when she was starting out. Even just someone to talk to would have helped in some of her darkest moments.
"Have you felt anything? Any sort of familiarity with anything? I guess I don't know if it'll only happen on your wonder, of if it could happen anywhere on Ida." She said as she stepped towards the door. "Come on. I can show you some of the higher floors. My rooms are at the top, but there are some neat workshops too."

Selenga winced a little and shook his head, feeling... embarrassed? Ashamed? Left out? Everyone else he knew all... none of them were like him. He had an ancestor at his Wonder and no past life to speak of. His face burned red with the emotions overwhelming him and he gave a causal half-shrug. "I wouldn't know. I don't really... have a past life? My power was passed down the bloodline, not reincarnated," he told her as he followed to the stairs.

"Oh! Then never mind that, I'm sorry." Ida said as she led him upwards, spiraling around the great tree to the next landings. "That means you have an ancestor then. That's wonderul! For someone starting out the way you are, an ancestor can be a really great mentor. They can help explain how your magic works, things about your wonder, just all sorts of useful information... and hopefully, it'll be someone you can really talk to, too. I don't think enough of us have that..."
She stepped through the arched doorway and led him in. Inside this floor was more rooms, bigger and not stocked with homey furniture. Here, work stations and apparatus filled the space with strange, complicated shapes that not even Ida fully understood. Some, when she focused on them, could call up some memory of using them, giving her a hint as to what each was for.
The first table she took him to had something a bit like a long, wooden wand, attached to a tube. Ida pointed at it.
"That was one of tools we used to grow things into shapes." She said as she reached out to pick it up. Her fingertip pointed to the end. "It concentrates Ida's energy and that can be applied to specific parts, causing them to grow at a greatly accelerated rate. And because you can move it, you can sort of guide the plant into the shape you want."

Selenga nodded thoughtfully—next time he went to his Wonder, perhaps... He would ask questions. Everything had been sort of... Rushed, when he'd first arrived. "That looks amazing!" he said, looking closely at the wand. "It must have been beautiful in action. I wonder if my home on the Wonder was constructed using this?"

"Most likely something very similar... but a lot larger, to handle something that big. Something small like this is good for delicate instruments and other small parts, like the insides of a computer." She said as she placed the wand back onto its stand. Reaching, she picked up an incomplete rectangle of slender wood pieces, turning it over in her hands.
"I don't think I could replicate any of the things from my memories... not unless I spent a lot of time practicing. I think it was as much an art form as it was a science, and I was never really an artist. And I haven't been doing it since childhood." She said with a regretful shrug. "But maybe some day I can make simple things. I've spent a lot more time cultivating my garden... and even if its not reviving the old technology and culture of Ida, I like to think the asteroid still appreciates it."
She would never be quite the same person she had been in her last life. And that was neither good nor bad, really. The worlds were different places than they had been, and the war was a different beast than what it had been too. Things had changed so much, what would her past self have even been able to do about it?
Lock down the asteroid and hunker down, hoping it never came this far? That wasn't an option for Ida now, even if she had wanted to. She'd vowed to protect both worlds.

Selenga nodded, brow furrowing as he stared at the wand. He kind of wished he could have his own memories—maybe he'd know something that could help... But then again, maybe not. He'd never know. "I'm sure it does. There's a lot we can and can't do, and maybe one day in the future... Everything will be better. Maybe you'll eventually find something that will help." He really hoped so.

Ida smiled as she turned back to the Page and his hopeful sentiments.
"I hope so too, but in the mean time, we do the best with what we have, hmm?" She said as she offered him her hand. "This world needs all of its protectors, and I'm really glad you're here now to help it. There are parts of it I can't reach or help on my own."
She hadn't even known there were wonders on her world, hidden, secret places that were still unhealed, unrecovered. She might have never known, until knights had started awakening. Now, they could heal their wonders and Ida would be a better, more complete place with a whole group of protectors. It wouldn't be just her responsible for it any more. It was actually kind of relieving thought. Even if something happened to her, the knights would take care of it, keep it alive.
"Come on, lets go to the top. Are you okay with heights? There is an observation deck and a really wonderful view of the whole city." She said.

Selenga blushed a little at the compliment and nodded. "I promise to do my best," he swore, following after her. "This place is beautiful. It should stay that way."
