Cahira sat down on a broken piece of wall next to the pillar, her head tilting with interest. “Oh? Are they interesting at least?” She asked with a teasing smirk. “Not that you would care since you’re so focused on your work.”

“Interesting as in obnoxious, then most definitely.” Replied Xylia as she wiped down her blades with a cloth, studying them as she thought about things. “He apparently works to help out certain situations as well but his organization is well….an organization.” She was just a loner, after all, and so interacting with this dude was a whole different affair than her simple interference with smugglers and such.

“Ah, not a good match for a solo player like yourself.” Acknowledged Cahira as she stretched out her legs, her calves screaming with the movement. “Does it matter though? Not to say that you aren’t doing good things, but if they’re also helping out…well shouldn’t that be good?”

“Not when he’s always interrupting my plans and making me go along with his chaotic ones. We nearly drowned on a ship the other week, Cahira. I was having nightmares about the ocean for days afterwards.” Despite her best attempts not to, Xylia still shivered at the memory. She could swim, had loved swimming in the little oasis by her home when growing up, but never before had she seen so much water rushing at her all at once. The ocean definitely was not for her, that was for certain.

“Oof, I’m sorry.” Cahira glanced towards Xylia with concern. “On the bright side you lived so it’s better to have nightmares than to never be able to dream at all, right?” As morbid as that comfort was, it was the best thing she could think of at the moment. She was honestly impressed that Xylia had actually gotten on a ship in the first place. She couldn’t imagine the other girl dealing with so much water well, not when she had been raised mostly in the desert. So either Xylia was truly committed to her work or the obnoxious guy was really good at convincing others to do things they normally never would.

“Cahira, that’s not the best way to comfort someone.” Snapped Xylia lightly before letting out a sigh. “Sorry, it’s just been a lot lately. I’m trying my best and then this guy just keeps appearing and sometimes I feel like he’s the one who really can do things while I’m just kind of in the way.” It was a hard truth to admit but he did feel like he had a better grip on things while Xylia just dove in blindly, not thinking about the consequences of her actions or the connections that sometimes had to be brought out into the open by waiting instead of defeating whatever baddies were in the way first.

“Hey, you’re just doing your best.” Cahira protested. “You’ve helped so many people already. So what if you aren’t some mastermind who plots out everyone’s demise? All that stuff is for those political struggles.” She made a face, reminded by her own family’s past. “I personally think it’s sometimes best to just dive in and take care of a situation instead of risking it getting worse.”

“Thanks, though I feel like you're biased.” Teased Xylia as she leaned back, her head touching the cool stone. “You definitely are the type to jump first, ask questions later.” So how could she judge Xylia for doing the same? Admittedly, Cahira was a lot more innocent and less likely to get into a serious fight like Xylia did but still. She definitely had her reckless moments.

“I mean I can’t help it if I live in the moment.” Cahira made a face. “I’ll let others in my family be the masterminds who wait forever for progress. I just want to keep traveling and learning all different sword fighting styles. One day I may finally open my own school, just for fighting not dancing.”

“Hmm. Sounds lovely.” Admitted Xylia. “Just be wary of who you train. I don’t think I can handle too many threats who fight like you do.” She joked lightly, even though it was a concern. How could one tell if their student was going to be honest or turn out completely different?

Cahira blinked, her brow furrowing thoughtfully as she thought about the possibility of someone dangerous studying under her. “I’ll have to make sure to get to know my students before accepting them. I would like to think I’m a decent judge of character, else I wouldn’t be sitting here right now.”

Xylia laughed, some of the stress leaving her expression. “Fair enough. I’ll have to trust your judgment then and if it ever fails one day you’ll have to close whatever school you build.” It was a joke, mostly, but Xylia did have some worry still lingering. Mostly though it was still aimed at this Valek situation. She could only imagine how Cahira would react to him! Would she consider him innocent too with his charisma and obnoxiously good looks? It was such a trap. Xylia sighed, stretching out her sore arms. “Maybe we should visit the springs today. Feel up to the trip?”

“Deal.” Cahira replied, slipping from the wall so that she could stand and stretch more. “But I’m only making such a promise because I’m fully confident that no villains will emerge from my school.” Cahira was as usual an optimist and would never think that anything could go wrong. Just look at Elias! She had been happy to train him for a bit, he matched her passion for the sword and she truly hoped to keep seeing him in the future so that she could see how he grew and acted with the lessons he had learned. However, her attention did shift at the mention of a trip to the springs and the hybrid quickly nodded. “Of course!”

“Mmhmm.” Xylia couldn’t be angry at Cahira’s optimism. Her energy was always so pure that it would be a shame to think otherwise. It made her slightly jealous, all things considered. “Alright, let’s go to the springs then.” She pushed away from the ground and stretched some more, making certain each leg was good before risking a cramp on the walk to the springs. “Did you have many plans today? It’s already mid-morning…”

Cahira shook her head. “You know me. Lazy noblewoman who just plays with swords all day, no meetings or anything like that for me.” Until she opened a school….now that was exciting. Her brother was always in meetings and preparing things for that museum of his. Maybe now that she was finally staying in Oba and Matori, she could help him more? Or rather bother him for help with how to run an academy.
