Now that she was able to dip down into the water proper Ika pulled her dreads free from their tie and allowed the river to cool her scalp. She should have been helping Quynh search for gemstones and crystals, but honestly she was content to just soak. “I can’t imagine growing up divided like that was easy. I’ve seen the way some of the older sisters treat Elaria when they come to Chibale, and how they treat me. They’re not too keen on me because I have earthling blood, but there’s enough of us now that it’s old compared to a blend with ‘betrayer’ blood.” Thankfully it wasn’t the majority vote, but Ika had heard enough to make her eyes roll.
“Hrm. I’m good at handling crowds and keeping orders straight in a rush. My mom – the earthling one – owned a tavern when I was growing up. I guess….” Ika mulled over the last one before shaking her head. “Nah, not gonna say that one.”

Quynh found herself drifting closer as she listened to Ika. Slowly but surely she was gathering a couple of gemstones, mostly quiet as she was content to listen to Ika was searching around. "A tavern. We've never been to one but I hear it's fun. " Quynh replied, not wanting Ika to have to linger on anything she didn't want to speak about. "Honestly, it's nice just listening. I don't talk to many others and I am really good at secret keeping, a perk of having betrayer blood." She teased trying to make light of her own situation rather than stressing over it.

“You’ve never been to a tavern? You’re missing out!” Ika twisted around in the water just enough to start up her search in earnest. While she wasn’t exactly sure what kind of stone she needed to find, she just let her fingers guide her. “When she started traveling again I thought they were going to sell it, but I think my older brother’s going to take it over now. You’ll have to come with me when you get back to Jauhar.” As much as some of the memories pained her Ika had a hard time letting them rule over the happier ones.
“Oh hey, I think I’ve got one.” Ika dug down into the river until the water nearly swallowed her whole and pulled out an oddly shaped rock. While the exterior was just bumpy and ugly, a crack showed the crystals within.

"Sounds like a date." Replied Quynh with a grin, expressing her excitement to show how sincere she was about visiting. "What do you do at a tavern? Drink or such?" She was honestly curious about what to expect. Her mothers always focused on the hunt and training so relaxation was something Quynh had to steal away to do on her own.
"Oh!" Her gaze lit up some more. "That's a really nice one. I could finish cracking it and smooth the gemstone for you, if you'd like." Geodes were one of her favorites, a sign of good luck in her opinion. So maybe there was a bit of luck in their future, Quynh could only hope!

A trip to the tavern and a potential meet up on the beach? Ika was starting to think this trip may have actually been worth it. She'd experienced a few things since her trip to Zinris to make branching away from Chibale exciting, but this...well, this was a little more than that. "You'll just have to wait and see it for yourself. Nothing I say is going to compare anyway."
"Sure, knock yourself out." Ika waded through the water to hand it over with a smile. "Just make something with it that reminds you of me and I'm sure it'll look great." If Quynh was the one designing it then it was sure to look good, even if it was a little flashier than Ika was used to. Still she had faith in the Aishan and when she went back to looking for more the smile never fell from her face.
