“Heh, well I appreciate hearing about it.” Ixia confirmed, rolling her head so that her neck cracked along her shoulders and released some of the tension from pushing herself so much earlier. “I get a bit carried away at times too. Ya don’t happen to have a spear, right? I would actually love ta see it in action.” She pursed her lips thoughtfully. “Actually everyone should be out and about near the village preppin’ for the show….what do you think about visiting the troupe and findin’ my ma’s weapons to see if any work?”

“Do you think that’s a good idea?” Zira did sit up straighter at the idea, her gaze brightening at the idea of visiting the troupe’s encampment and having someone actually want to see her fighting style. “I don’t want to get you in trouble…” She began with a frown, debating how good of an idea this really was. Sneaking around was something her father had told her was a bad thing to do and Zira was always the honest and reliable type, not really one to do something like borrowing another Aishan’s weapon.

“Yeah.” Ixia nodded encouragingly, hopping up from the ground and holding out her hand to help up the other girl. “It’s my ma so what’s the harm? Plus, I can show you around and you might be able to meet some of the other performers. You were interested in the show, right?”

Zira gave the stranger a look before finally accepting the hand. “Fine, but I should at least get your name first.” She teased lightly as she was pulled back onto her feet. “Would be a shame to get punished and not know who to curse at, right?” It was mostly a joke…mostly.

“Fair ‘nuff.” Ixia giggled as she watched the other girl brush the dirt from her leggings. “The name is Ixia. You?” She tilted her head studying the girl as if trying to see if she could figure out a fitting name. She was very pale, almost the opposite of Ixia with her warmer complexion and colors, so maybe something like snow or winter? Though those weren’t the best of names. If she was in the troupe though she could have a name like Lady Winter or something.

“Ixia.” Zira smiled as she finished brushing the dirt from her leggings, straightening the heavier wool fabric of her tunic as she rearranged her slightly disheveled appearance. It was much heavier attire than what she was used to wearing since it was so much warmer in Jahaur but honestly she didn’t mind as much now that she had been in Sauti for a few days. It was cozy wearing a heavier tunic and scarf, almost like always carrying around a blanket that could keep you warm against the bitter wind. “Nice to meet you, I’m Zira.”

Hmm. It wasn’t quite the same as Lady Winter but Zira was nice enough. Maybe though if she could convince the other girl to join the troupe one day then she could also convince her to take on the stage name. It was a shame that she was so focused on becoming an Aishan warrior since Ixia would love to see what type of dancer Zira could become. She was really pretty too which would also interest the crowd, that was for certain. “Alright, well introductions aside time ta explore.” She winked towards the other girl and motioned for her to follow along, the hybrid bouncing forward through the field with her own wool dress with its slit sides and sandals blending in with the golden and tan crops.

“Alright.” Zira nodded before blinking as she realized Ixia was already darting ahead. She was so quick! Apparently sitting down and just chatting for a few minutes had given her plenty of energy back even after all those somersaults and such. “Ho-hold on!” Zira twisted her boots back into place as she started forward after the other hybrid. The rows of corn and wheat almost made it like a game, the girls weaving in and out of the rows upon rows of crops as they went towards the area where the troupe was. “Was there always this much corn here?” She swore she had just helped harvest so much of it earlier that week!

“It does seem to be growing more.” Ixia teased as she popped out of a row of corn next to Zira, the mischievous girl grinning as she basically played hide and seek in rows of crops. “We helped harvest it a bit yesterday as well. Thought there was far too much myself, think they have a crop magic user or somethin?”

“Hey!” Zira felt her heart jump in her chest for a moment there as Ixia popped out of nowhere. Shaking her head at the other girl’s playful antics, she refused to be ruffled by it and kept going forward through the rows of crops. This had to end eventually, right? Honestly it almost made her want to believe Ixia that there could be some magic involved. It was crazy how much corn and wheat there was! “Oh, wait! That looks like the end of the field.” They could have just kept to the open path, but Ixia had bounced in here instead. It made sense considering how happy the other girl appeared playing in the field, peeking out and darting around rows of corn and wheat but if it was up to Zira she would have taken the proper path forward.

Well, she thought she could get a better rise out of Zira. Ixia pursed her lips into a pout as the other girl continued forward, not even seeming bothered much by Ixia popping in and out of the corn to startle her. At least they still had something fun planned. She didn’t always need to play pranks for amusement, not if she was going to witness some cool fighting techniques and stuff. Ixia had already learned the way out of the corn and wheat fields, she had already spent the last couple of days playing pranks on others as they worked on the harvest and had learned the paths in and out of the area. So it wasn’t much of a surprise when Zira pointed out the exit. “Yeah, that’s the way to the troupe.” Admitted Ixia as she nudged Zira forward, a playful bump on the shoulder before leaving the field and emerging into an open space. Rows of tents greeted them, most of them green with golden stripes to match the troupe’s flag with its crossed goldenrods as the emblem. They were like wildflowers, sprouting up wherever they could and providing a beautiful sight before moving along to the next thing.

Well, if she knew why make things so complicated? Zira found herself twisting her lips in protest before finally emerging from the fields again. This was feeling more like a trap though she was honestly too interested in the troupe to be bothered. Ixia seemed a bit playful, not malicious so it should be fine. At least that was her reasoning as she kept following the other girl. “Oh, wow.” Zira blinked in surprise as she saw all the tents and wagons scattered about the clearing. “That’s a lot of…everything.” There were even makeshift fences up, some of them separating familiars like the capramel from the rest. It looked like a lot of fun too with little venues being put up for any of the villagers when the grounds officially opened later. Some were games, others were little treat stands and souvenirs…was that even someone for fortune telling? Zira’s gaze narrowed thoughtfully. Would that actually work?

“It is. One of my favorite stands has really good sweets.” Ixia guided Zira forward through the outer area of the grounds and towards a series of little stalls, one of them smelling salty from all of the popped corn that they had prepared for later tonight when there would be guests. “Like salty or sweet?” She asked reaching over to pluck one of the smaller paper bags full of the salty treats from the counter. “These are salty, but the chocolates are really good too.” She handed the bag to Zira without warning, continuing forward to a second stall that had little boxes of sweets on display. “The chocolates here are the best.” She advised opening the lid of a box to steal a couple of the truffles to also share with Zira.

“You know…” Zira began even after she tried a piece of the popcorn, the saltiness immediately making her wish there was also water nearby even though it was really tasty. Was that part of what some of her cousins’ meant by saying the food was a trap? They sold water flasks, juices and alcohol and then you just kept drinking juice or water while eating the salty treats? Either way she did have to look at Ixia with a small frown. “If you weren’t part of the troupe then I would have to worry about walking in and just taking all of this. Are we even allowed to do this?”

“Well, I am part of the troupe so no worries.” Replied Ixia with a firm nod, popping a chocolate in her mouth as she handed the other one towards Zira. These chocolates were always so delicious! “I helped make the popcorn this morning and the chocolates…I’ll just explain it to Trixi later.” She gave a shrug. “It’s not like there’s rules about samplin’ the stuff for the opening night, so it should be fine.”
