“Smothered in all of your favorite seasonings,” Finn snarked back. In his eyes there was absolutely no point in wasting resources, even if his were seemingly secured. He’d done worse and would again if it came down to it. Did he like it? No. But would he? She really didn’t want that answer now did she? Katori just wanted to be difficult.
“Everything is a meal option, Katori.” Leather came from the hide of a cow and if needed you could boil it to make a sort of gummy, unappetizing meal to get by. Ergo a living, breathing raptrix at the end of it’s life was no different than a chicken.
“Going out there isn’t going to change anything, but if it makes you happy then fine. Let’s go pet the flying chickens.”

"I see." Katori quipped back without thinking. "So you stared me down that one time in the river because you were judging how much of a meal I could provide, got it." Perhaps she was being difficult and even choosing to ignore anything else behind her words, the flush on her cheeks irrelevant in as she lost her temper. "Maybe that's why the landslide was so devastating. Would be a shame to lose a good meal with me hidden beneath the rocks." She slipped, her fury instantly turning into shame at the memory. Ugh, spirits! Still, Finn had agreed to go pet the flying chickens and she found herself letting out a breath, trying to calm down from her sudden outburst. What was even wrong with her?! Was she so upset that he didn't seem to care if she died minus what he could get out of death like a good meal or coat? "I shouldn't have said that." She finally managed quietly, her gaze almost apologetic as she moved to brush past Finn.
"I suppose we can just go pet the flying chickens." Katori's voice wobbled and she mentally kicked at herself for being such a short tempered idiot. "Just give them a chance, Finn. That's all I'm asking." Give the raptrix a chance, give her a chance....Katori closed her eyes in frustration. Seriously, what was wrong with her lately?

“Yeah I did stare you down because I wanted a taste, but not in that way.” Meaning, of course, like a traditional dinner. There was no way Finn could have hid the way he looked at her bare thigh and he wasn’t about to try. For once Finn was the one to put a lid on his temper. His fingers flexed when she brought up the landslide, lightning popping off his cracking knuckles as the yaeli took a tense breath and looked off to the side.
Before she could get too far away he reached out and grabbed her arm. “If you want me to give them a chance then you’re going to have to give me a chance, Katori. If it came down to it I would, but it wouldn’t be my first choice. ” Memories like that stuck with a person.

What other way then was there? Katori's cheeks flushed completely violet as she tried to figure out the meaning behind those words. Finn only cared about survival so....spirits! She didn't even want to think about whatever else that one could mean. Because if she did then that meant that she was willing to believe that he actually....well yeah! She was already plenty flustered enough with this whole situation. She had only wanted to introduce him to the raptrix and somehow once again things just blew up.
But surprisingly things weren't exploding left and right now that the moment was past. Instead Katori found herself startled by the sudden tug on her arm, her lips curling in defiance before the expression softened as confusion crossed her features and the snarl disappeared. "Finn?" The name came out as a whisper. "What do you mean? Do we....like each other?" The question wasn't snarky or malicious at all, just honestly surprised. Like Katori knew that they had become traveling companions but the way that things felt in this very moment and with everything else that had been on her mind since the chiavi incident it was like something finally clicked into place. "You may not be your own first choice, but I think you've become mine." She managed after a moment, hesitation making her bite her bottom lip thoughtfully. "But I thought you couldn't stand me half the time..."

“I hate you less than other people.” Finn answered on a held breath, then let it slip out as a sense of anxiety settled in his blood. He’d known since the landslide that he cared more about her safety than anyone else’s and that…was still something odd. To know she felt the same way about him was something Finn hadn’t considered. Surely there were other options for her to get close to; opportunities that didn’t spit at her every time she held out a hand. And yet, here she was, sticking it out, for him.
She couldn’t have been mentally well.
His hand went from holding onto her arm to slipping down toward her hand where the yaeli cautiously slipped his fingers around hers. Hers were strong and calloused, his knobby and calloused; together scarred and warm. “Half the time I can’t stand you, but the other half I can’t stop thinking about you.” He admitted softly before giving their hands a tug. “Come on then, let’s go see these damn things before I change my mind.”
If he stood around for much longer he was going to leave or they would get in another fight. For now…he just kind of wanted to explore this a bit.
