Ugh, these kids were still young enough to do their cheesy flirting. He couldn’t hear what Arawn said to Laon, but Remarque could tell by the way his face colored a bit that it had to be something ridiculous. He kept his arms crossed over his chest while he waited for them to sort out whatever they needed to.
It didn’t take Laon much time to notice Arawn’s trembling hand, and it took all of his focus not to look down at it. He squeezed it instinctively and then drew his hand to his lips so he could kiss it.
And almost jumped out of his skin when thunder cracked in the distance.
He hadn’t felt the stickiness in the air until then, and he pulled Arawn’s hand to his chest.
Remarque sighed heavily, disappointed and annoyed by the change in weather. It could have been a good night, he knew that breeze was too good to be true.
He chewed on the inside of his lip for a moment and then asked, “Do you two want to keep practicing in Mirrorspace or do you want to pack it up and head home before it starts raining? I don’t want either of you getting sick so I don’t want you caught in the rain and going home soaked.”
He knew their living situation was far from ideal, any little thing could complicate things. And, even if he didn’t want to say it, he knew they were pushing themselves pretty hard.

When Laon jumped, Arawn immediately reached around with his other arm to pull Laon close to him, but he didn’t move his hand away from where he had his hand against Laon’s chest. He used his fingers to try and massage it a little, trying to get his heart to calm.
“Hell yes I want to see more of Mirrorspace,” Arawn practically whipped around to look at Remarque again and perked up some more. “We’re supposed to be building it up, right? Might as well make sure we’re properly introduced to our future home. So are we just saying screw everyone who isn’t a Senshi like us? Like, haha, the world is screwed and we’re going somewhere safe? Which I’m honestly okay with but, I mean, I know you have kids, so.”
Arawn shrugged. He didn’t care if anyone else was in a special world that was built just for them, as long as Laon was safe. Not having to worry about paying for rent would be nice too.
“So when can we just move into Mirrorspace? Can we do that?” Speaking of not paying rent…

Laon immediately whispered an apology and moved a bit closer. He liked the attention, of course, but he felt a bit silly about needing the reassurance. He liked to tell himself that it was helping Arawn ground himself to fuss over him and he hoped he wasn’t just telling himself that.
Although he might have liked to go home and avoid the rain, he couldn’t help but smile when Arawn expressed so much raw enthusiasm. Any desire to go home fled and he found himself turning to face Remarque expectantly, hopeful that they could go visit.
“Not exactly,” Remarque said, less exasperated than before because even he couldn’t help but appreciate Arawn’s sudden passion. He was much more likable when he was excited about something. “Come on,” he said, and gestured for them to follow them as he started off towards the nearest mirror. They’d get out of here before the rain started and figure out how to get everyone home as dry as possible later.
“We’ll need a lot more energy before you can plan to move there for the long term, and you’ve only just started. I’d rather you have a place I can reach you easily, Mirrorspace is sort of like a labyrinth sometimes. Plus, your phones won’t work there, and I’d like to be able to find you if I need something. But we’ll see how things go in the long run. I like your enthusiasm.”

Arawn scoffed and huffed and tsked in response to the compliment about his enthusiasm.
“Of course I’m enthusiastic about not having to deal with any other people,” he grumbled and huffed some more.
But he glanced up at Laon with a momentary expression of worry, hoping he wasn’t doing too much without consulting with him first. The next time he would definitely let Laon make the call, but he was really curious about this magical world of mirrors and shadow and whatever is supposed to be in there.
He gave Laon’s hand a squeeze and gently pulled him to follow Remarque. Hopefully before the rain started.
