Whatever. She’d let it pass for now. There were weirder things about this situation than Riker being Riker.
Not that she knew him all that well. They’d only met once before today. Now, though… she had a feeling they’d be seeing a lot more of each other. She’d never admit it, but Cynthus didn’t want to do any of this alone.
She cradled the piece of the Code that drifted toward her, half expecting it to shock her when she did. It did no such thing.
The “balance” stuff sounded too much like Star Wars for her not to scrunch her nose at. God, Dad would totally geek out about all of this. Actually, no, he’d probably freak out that Maisie was a superhero now. She definitely wasn’t going to be able to tell him about any of this, not if she didn’t want him worrying.
Perhaps belatedly, Cynthus wondered just what she’d gotten herself into.
There’d be time to figure that out, at least. She had the Code to guide her, and Riker to keep her company.
“Yeah, let’s go now!” she decided.
They were on the moon. They should extend their stay long enough to enjoy it.
