[Vetra 8]
"Have you ever wondered what it would have been like? If Aishans never left Chibale?" It was an odd question to Vetra, but for Enya it must have been an everyday thought. If she visited her grandmothers she was seeing Alkidike first hand and her mothers were Elaria. Each generation came from a different source with different values and a unique culture.
"We wouldn't have ever had to worry about hybrids if we didn't try taking more than we could hold. But then...we wouldn't be here and it would be a shame not to have you."

[Enya 9]
"Not really." The answer may have come off childish, but Enya spoke the truth. If Aishans had never branched away from Chibale then Elzira would never have existed, let alone Azehra or Esena. "It just seems natural; without pushing beyond our boundaries we're bound to grow stagnant and wilt."
The comment about hybrids, though...Compliment aside, Enya's brows furrowed and she pulled her hands away from Vetra's. "Worry about hybrids? What's the worry? They're not harming anyone so I fail to see what's so scary about them. Besides, Esena has never even granted a hybrid."

Way to screw up. "That's not what I meant. It's just...Well, if we didn't have hybrids then we wouldn't have had a war. You can't deny that." Honestly Vetra didn't care one way or the other especially since, as Enya had stated, they didn't have hybrids here. Still, it was the purity of Aisha that had been fought over and it would be silly to pretend there wasn't a cause.
"I don't wish anyone harm, but I think it's safer for everyone if we stay apart. We're just too different."

[Enya 10]
With a sigh, Enya moved to stand. Unlike the other Elidae her footing on the ocean slick stones was steadfast and sure, making it all the easier for her to put some distance between them. "So what if it did? That war happened before you or I were even a thought. You can stay here on the island where it's safe and at best you'll only have to speak to a few Kahi from time to time. I'm going out there-" She pointed across the horizon, "-to see the world for what it really is. I know earthlings are never going to be just like us and we'll never be like them, but it's stupid to think we can't connect. If the Elaria are making hybrids now then you know things have changed."
From the stories she'd heard from her own family Enya found it hard to grasp that hybrids had ever come from Elzira. And yet, there they were, in a new age. She'd been worried about leaving home, but Vetra showed her that there was more worry in remaining in one spot. She needed the trip if for no other reason than to expand her horizons.
"Goodbye, Vetra."
And when she turned her eyes away from the other Elidae, Enya started to go back home.

"Have fun dancing hand in hand with the yaeli! Hope they're nice to you!" Was it petty? Absolutely. Still, Vetra couldn't help calling out the taunt at Enya's retreating form before huddling in an irritated ball. Things were just fine here and now...was she still supposed to go with Enya? Why should she?! What did Zinris have for her when everything she could ever want was here?!
Because she's still going there...
Snarling, Vetra buried her forehead against her knees.
