This was wrong. The strange, monstrous plant felt...bad. Cold, clinging. The one on his world had made him feel hopeless, but this...this made him feel exhausted.
Like all the light and color and energy was being pulled away from him.
Unfortunately for this stupid demon flower, he had more to give.
"Selinur's right," he said. "Whatever it takes, Princess. We'll destroy this thing."
He brought his magic to hand again, lashing another whirl of razor petals at the plant. He only had so much to give, he knew, but he would give whatever he had to destroy this thing and make sure they all got home.

The attacks came at it one after another, freezing the vines into brittle ropes and withering the bloom at their center. The laser beam smashed into it, tearing gashes through the curtains of plant matter, and more petals shredded what was left. Sharp, high keening noise escaped it, like a scream of pain, dark ichor dripping from the cuts. The flower at the center curled in on itself, shriveling as it sank inwards. The vines that ran from it shriveled as well, going thin and veiny. The shriek rose in pitch and volume, growing until it finally screamed itself out and turned thready, finally falling away all together. The flower followed it, crumbling under their combined assaults. The vines followed after as the gloom it had given off began to dissipate and clear. Finally, the last of it crumbled away, the air about them turning clear and sweet again. Ida herself sagged as the plant monster died, a sudden rush of emotions overwhelming her.
She felt... free. The weight that had been pressing down on her for months lifted away, making her nearly giddy in it's wake. It was the cloud had lifted from her mind too, taking with it all the anxiety, doubt and self-hate. Ida felt... buoyant, euphoric.
"Its gone." She sobbed in relief. She couldn't stop the tears that poured down her face. "Oh my god, its gone. Was that... what was making me feel so awful? What the hell was it?"
Ida couldn't believe how differently, better, she felt now. All of that... had all of that come from this thing? She'd never dealt with that sort of insidious attack before. How had it gotten here? Why hadn't they noticed it sooner?

Selinur had kept close to the plant, keeping an eye on it incase he needed to use his magic again, so he watched in satisfaction as the plant gave way to his icy attack as well as the laser beam and more dancing petals. Turning around, smile in place, the ancient senshi found himself looking at Ida who seemed so happy.
"Back to your old self..." He whispered to no one in particular. But he was proud of what they'd managed here. If it would be so easy on his own planet, to remove so much chaos, he'd be happy. He knew it would be harder though, so much harder, but this little victory was good. There had been those small victories which made him sure that he'd win back his own planet. It would take time though, he wasn't ready yet. He'd keep working, keep helping, he had a goal in mind and he'd see it through.
"You picked a good team to ask here for this little mission. The magic we each have did a good job." PLus they were all equally comitted to handling this issue and seeing it through even if it meant getting hands on.
"I do wonder how this plant got here though...and how it went unnoticed for so long."

Illyria's gaze tracked the plant's dying motions and winced at the audible assault on her ears before everything stopped. The plant that had been radiating the sharpest, cloying aura of chaos crumbled away into the finest of dust, almost like the weakest youma did during battles on Earth. As Ida and Selinur began to discuss how the chaos might have gotten onto Ida in the first place and why it'd taken so long to discover she tilted her head towards the duo before feeling her whiskers twitch. One moment she was a cat, and the next she had shifted to her humanoid form before poking at the area that the chaos had been.
"I don't know if anyone would ever be able to answer how this got here but I wonder if where we are now makes a difference to why you never noticed this chaos until it was almost too late. I mean it almost seemed to take over this entire room. Maybe it took someone who wasn't bound to the world to realize what was eventually happening?"
Illyria was simply surmising at this point and she gave the room they'd arrived in a curious glance. She was just so excited that Ida seemed back to her old self again. As her bonded partner it had hurt to see the orchid senshi sinking deeper into herself. Feeling as if she herself was buoyed by the change in Ida's mood she laughed before rushing over to hug Ida before stepping back, "I'm glad that we were able to help you defeat this mass of chaos. I was beginning to get real worried about you."

It was dead. Just like the monster that had festered on his world, with the help of everyone's combined efforts, They'd managed to destroy this thing. And Ida looked...so much better. Like a weight, a shadow, had been lifted off her shoulders.
"When I discovered Chaos on my homeworld," Kerberos said, and he paused, to consider exactly how to frame it, "I spoke to..a friend," since he knew exactly nothing about how anyone here felt about Lyndin, "who has quite a lot of knowledge about the universe. He told me that there are things in space that we are not prepared for, and that many of them are Chaos. I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of those--drawn by your world coming back to life. Chaos is hungry, after all."
It was his best guess. He wished he'd thought to bring some sample jars to gather things for Lyndin, to compare and contrast--but alas. It was too late, and saving Ida had been far more important.
"I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing more of these as time goes on." He frowned. "We'll have to look out for each other--for everyone we know. I know that when that...thing was on my world, I was...angrier. Shorter-tempered. Quicker to want to fight." And Ida had seemed so sick, so miserable...
Not a pleasant thought, but they still had their victory.

The orchid senshi cried quietly, letting out all the relief she felt after... months of terrible darkness pressing down on her soul.
"Thank you." She managed as she sniffled, accepting Illyria's hug and returning it with a tight squeeze of her own. Her poor bonded... she'd known how worried she was, even if she hadn't been in a state to appreciate it. Ida wasn't sure what she'd done to deserve such loyalty, but she loved Illyria for it. "Thank you all for helping me."
Of course no one had any more idea what that had been than she did. Some terrible seed of chaos that had someone found its way onto her planet was as likely as anything else. The Blight had seemed to be something that had lain dormant until her planet woke, but it had been different... it had drained her world, but it had not had the same affect on her through her link to her asteroid. This was so much worse, and so insidious... It seemed like it was only luck that Illyria had found it in time. It was... horrible to think it could happen to anyone like it had happened to her and to Kerberos. Maybe they needed to spread the word about it... make people aware of the signs.
And keep this from happening to anyone else. Fin!
