Amarynthos had first gotten up with concern that Ephesus had seen something worrying–like, maybe, a ghost–but he sounded too excited for it to have been anything bad. He didn’t want Ephesus to leave him, but as soon as he was up he knew it was worthwhile.
He’d taken Ephesus’ hand and pulled himself up, and he didn’t let it go even after he’d risen.
The myriad of colors was beautiful and it looked as if each raindrop was a little suncatcher, painting one quick image before it plunged to the ground. The rainbow of color it birthed was fleeting but beautiful, and for a few seconds he fell silent as he took in the sight.
“You,” he said, absentmindedly, because he’d been spending too much time around Devyn, too.
But–it was beautiful. He liked the way it seemed to connect his Wonder to Ephesus’--he liked that they were under the same beautiful umbrella. Together.

Ephesus hadn’t been expecting that. He didn’t know why he hadn’t, because of course Amarynthos always said such sweet things like that, but this time it took his breath away and made his heart skip.
And the tears come back.
It was easy for him to pull his eyes away from the magical colors that shimmered and sparkled and was straight out of a fairy tail. Easy for him to look up at Amarynthos with watery eyes, because Mary’s face was beautiful too. His eyes were so kind and smile so warm.
Ephesus swallowed back as much of the emotions as he could, but pulled his hand away from Mary’s grasp so he could wrap his arms around him and hold him tightly instead.
They hadn’t figured out what the orbs were for, but together they could absolutely accomplish anything.
