“I’m happy to walk you home if you need me to explain. We can come up with a story together, say that you almost got mugged…which. Is true enough in a sense.”
Talia gave a small smile and got to her feet, brushing the dirt off of her bottom as she did so and then held a hand out to Julian. “It’s very nice to meet you, and I know that it’s a lot to take in, but you’re not alone, I’m here and I’ll help you with whatever I can. Any questions you have…do you have a phone? I’m happy to give you my number and we can coordinate a time and place to meet when you have some free time and we can keep talking and all of that.”
Falling silent for a moment, Talia finally gave another smile to the boy. “I mean it when I say that I’m excited to meet you, and that I want to get to know you and make sure you’re safe…this. Has honestly made me feel rather gooey inside and…I’m…really happy that I got to be here when you awoke…like. It feels like destiny or something…”

Another hesitant pause but he finally accepted her hand and pulled himself up. “I have a phone, yeah.” It wasn’t anything fancy–a very well used, older model, but it had a good case it it seemed like he took good care of it. He passed it over with a bit of reluctance, but he’d gotten to the contact list so she could add herself.
The uniform was probably self explanatory, but he mumbled, “I go to school at Hillworth, I don’t know if they’re going to care about a story. They get a lot of them.”
It wasn’t exactly a school to brag about, and he’d already accepted that he was going to be in trouble–now he just had to worry about it until it happened.
“I’m glad you were here,” he said–that much was true. He didn’t know if he’d have made it out okay if it had been just him–and he wouldn’t have any idea what was going on if she hadn’t been there.

“I’m glad that I was here too…I don’t want to think about what might have happened, the good part is that it didn’t so…” Talia smiled and punched her number into the phone and then handed it back to the boy. “Hillworth or not, I’ll still walk you back and see if I can’t do something to soften them. We should plan to meet up again someday soon, if you have the time? I’d like to explain more of this to you…and I’d love to get to know you better, and to take you up to Lysithea for a picnic! You’ll get to have picnics in space now, so that’s a perk to all of the…everything else.”
She gave a little sigh and began to slowly make her way to where she was pretty sure that Hillworth was. She wasn’t very familiar with the school but…now that she knew one of her knights went there…
It might be good to know a bit more about it. “Just let me know a day that’s good for you, okay?”

Julian seemed antsy when she mentioned walking him back; he didn’t want anyone to see him and get the wrong idea. He was visibly flustered but nodded as he pressed a few buttons and sent her a text in response. It was brief–just a short:
It was still a lot to swallow, but…
“It’s, um–it’s kind of a tight ship at the school, but I have some free time on the weekends, if that’s okay? That would give me time to think about all of this. Would it be okay if I made a list of questions? I’ve just had a lot on my mind and all of this has left me a little scattered. Maybe you can text me tomorrow so I know this wasn’t all a dream and we can make plans then? If that’s okay.”
He pocketed his phone and adjusted his backpack as he walked with Talia but he still seemed a bit nervous.

Nodding slowly, Talia thought over his request. “A list of questions would be helpful for me too, I’m…pretty easily distracted when I just say what I think is important. And, I’ll be happy to text you tomorrow, not a problem. You’re really brave, Julian, I just want you to know that. You might not feel it, but I can tell. I’ve had to be brave a lot in my time too so, I know it when I see it.”
She paused as the school came into view and gave a sigh. “If you’re worried about getting into trouble I’ll leave you here, but I’ll text you in the morning and we can plan for our picnic!”
Grinning, Lysithea placed a hand on his shoulder, squeezing lightly for just a moment and then took a step backwards. “Have a good night and be safe, I’ll see you soon!”
