Her hand tightened around Ami’s fingers, Noelani giving her a reassuring squeeze as she listened to the kawena’s apology. “I think we both had to think things over.” She finally managed as she slowly pulled away so that she could truly look at Ami, her other hand moving so that she could carefully brush the tears from the woman’s cheeks. “I needed to grow, explore the world and find out who I was before I committed to anything and you were also still growing into who you needed to be.” A soft smile crossed her lips through the tears as she tried to be strong for both of them. Being a treasure hunter and exploring the world last year had truly strengthened her resolve whereas before she may have just settled with Ami and not asked for anything more. Now though Noelani was greedy for everything that they could be, especially since she was confident in her ability to take care of them both. “I want to continue exploring and finding treasures. Would you want to work with me here in Matori?” She asked quietly as she looked over the Kawena. “I know it’s not the same as your home, but there’s so many things I could show you like you showed me when I was in Kahi with you.”

Ami took a deep breath to calm her tears. “I left Kahi for a reason.” She began with a small smile. “I’m here now and I don’t intend to leave, not without you.” Ami would stay in Matori if that was what Noelani wanted and if they could visit Kahi again that would be lovely, but she would not force Noelani to leave her home especially not when she could try to be happy here. There was so much of the world that they could explore together and she was eager to see everything. “You’re the one I want to start a family with one day. I’m committed to this if you are.” She promised with a small smile as she glanced around the little cove that they had taken shelter in. “So far Matori seems beautiful and I’m excited to explore this world that you grew up in.” Even if the ocean and its beaches were different Ami was not afraid, not when her heart was already right next to her.

“A family.” Noelani repeated before letting out a soft sigh. “I would if I could, but Ami…” She glanced towards the kawena with concern. “Aishans can pray to their mother trees for blessings, but I’m not like those who followed such a path.” She shook her head sadly. “I chose to be like my earthling heritage and left such things behind so the option is not for me. Would that change your mind?” She asked quietly, concern crossing her features. She did not want to ruin the chance of a family for Ami, especially since it seemed to mean so much to her. Even Noelani had admittedly though of a family when growing up, the girl constantly surrounded by love within her own and wanting to share that warmth with children of her own one day. Now that she had proven herself as a treasure hunter and had set up a connection with the Oban noble who paid for expeditions, the woman was more confident than ever in her ability to build a home here in Matori near her family. Maybe they could adopt? Would that be alright with Nanami? Some felt like that was acceptable while Noelani also knew that others much preferred their own blood as heartbreaking as that thought was. Still, Noelani was not going to lie to Nanami, not when there was still so much that she did not know about Aishan or earthling culture.

Ami simply shook her head with a small, knowing smile crossing her lips. “I suppose there’s a lot about my kind that I have yet to share with you. We do not need to worry about blooms if you’re willing in the future and want a family as well.” While she was not certain about Aishans and earthlings, Ami had some confidence since she had originally studied to become a healer. Such things were not completely beyond her comprehension and she wanted to offer what she could to Noelani. “For now I think we can settle on finding out more about each other and then seeing what the future holds.” She offered quietly. “I think I’ve waited long enough for this and I’m ready to follow you wherever you want to go, no matter how far or how quickly.” It was a bold statement and one that made her cheeks warm, but at the same time it was so very very true. Nanami wanted to treasure Noelani and show her how much she truly loved her as long as Noelani would have her.

Would it truly be possible to have a family together in the natural way? Noelani’s gaze widened, her heart actually skipping a beat with hope and also with the implications of what they would have to do in order to have such a thing. “I trust you, Ami.” She whispered quietly as she accepted the kawena’s words, her own heart swelling with love and happiness at being reunited with the woman who had claimed her heart. So many nights spent wondering about where they could have gone and who they could have been to finally see that it was possible to be together like this. Noelani would gladly have a family with Ami if that was what she wanted, she was ready now that she had spent so much time working on herself and growing as an explorer. What was a little break from adventuring when she had so much to catch up on with Ami? Even if it didn’t happen right away there was still the hope that they could have that family in the near future. The very thought warmed her own cheeks as she moved her hands so that she could pull the kawena’s head closer, her lips capturing Ami’s own as the two shared their first kiss which would quickly turn into so much more.
