"Then start digging." Eion polished off the rest of his tea, inevitably saddened that he reached the bottom of the cup. His attention settled on Adam once more, waiting to see if he had something else to add to this conversation.
It reminded him that he missed Quartz, strange as that was to say. It wasn't that they were close, or that they had even communicated much, except to the barest extent. But Quartz was a kind of eye candy that had never walked into his life before, and Eion found that he quite missed the man's sleek outfit and perfect body. But he was Schörl's, so he was ever out of reach. If only he could find another beautiful specimen of boy to drag into the fold and keep for himself.
Though, that placed him one step closer to Schörl. Maybe not, then.
Sighing through his nose, he refocused on what Adam was saying. He reminded himself to have patience with those who were new; they hadn't become accustomed to the way the Negaverse worked yet, so it was understandable that their thought processes wouldn't naturally incorporate known Negaverse tools. Still, it chafed, and he found he couldn't muster that kind of patience. Stroud would say this one was useful as a button.
He picked up his cup again, only to find it empty. Frowning, Eion added, "Why wonder when you can check the Database? Prospective contacts always get logged."

Sounded like a path. His task to research their enemy expanding gave him a confidence boost. It went from simply mining them to figure out their information and how to counter their magic to now inspecting them to figure out who of theirs was perhaps useful as an informant. He saw how Eion's gaze shifted and was followed with a sigh; it expressed a curiosity from him, but that was not their level of relationship, he knew. Borax did these assignments to climb the ranks so he could match his ifrit of a boss's boss. Perhaps simply without the fire gut. "I have researched the database thoroughly. It has helped me assemble what has been expected of me. You mentioned Schörl's entries, for example." His brows knit. "As I reflect on it, I did see a few entries from the Quartz you mentioned." He was using full names, so his comfort shifted to using them instead of dodgy names as well. "Two of them were on an Eros and Puck. If Eros is still present," not Puck, from the other things he had read, "perhaps she might be a good starting point." He hummed under his breath. "There was another basic I crossed paths with." There was one more confrontation that was worth mentioning. "She was dressed like an Indiana Jones cosplayer and had literal dinosaur attacks. It paralyzed me temporarily. I am uncertain if she will be innately amenable to joining us, but a paralyzation ability is quite useful."

Eion never enjoyed hearing Schörl's name brought up, nor did he enjoy hearing Puck's name again, but his visceral response was deeply different for each of them. Eion sniffed, rubbing his nose as he forced himself to keep following Adam's meandering diction.
He couldn't recall ever meeting Eros, but he recognized the name. Once upon a time, when he was a little more in love with Quartz, he had paid attention to those entries. Read them over and imagined to himself (for that was the only safe space left) what those conversations must have looked like and what parts were left out of his succinct and cutting reports. He'd let his imagination get the better of him back then, following the reports into absolutely outlandish situations that approximated what he had sorely lacked in his life. Eros wasn't one of the ones terribly worth imagining. Puck, on the other hand —<******** that b*****d. ******** him with a molten-hot tire iron until it comes out the other side.
"Paralyzing," Eion couldn't help but correct. "Or paralysis. As you get more exposure, you'll recognize what's useful and what's not. Paralysis is better for us than for them." He lifted his empty cup again and was greeted with the same sadness as before.
"Bring the ones you're interested in to the attention of your boss. She'll help you set up their acquisition if they pass muster. If not, she'll explain where you went wrong."
At least he didn't have to lead this one by the nose quite as much as before, that was some consolation. Jada must have been working closely with him. Eion supposed that, whether he kept tabs on Borax or not, he would be hearing about this one more than once. Which direction he went was to be determined, but he would certainly head in a direction. Eion hoped, for Adam's sake, that it was one of the better ones.
"Anything else?"

Adam was careful to watch Eion's facial expression throughout, curious as to what he said that was prompting a reaction. He suspected that the names Schörl and Puck were where it was centered -- he was curious about Schörl, but the reaction to Puck tracked with what his fiery general had already written. If this Eros expected the same arrangement-- He would confront that when he got it, the more important part to him resolidifying the contacts of generals past. "Got it," paralysis was what he was looking for, and it made sense. A paralyzed enemy was easy to dispatch; if they couldn't fight back, it was easy to shove his hand within their chest and chase it out with a starseed in hand. They may not even have a chance to fight back before they were dead, and there was something ... intensely appealing about that he was not quite willing to articulate in a public space. He glanced down to his mug. He was also running low on drink, and in tradition, that meant that the conversation had run its course. "That is the gamut of the people of interest I have found. I will chase up Eros and see if I can find her and loop her back in, and see if perhaps this fish person will be of utility. Can branch out from there." He knit his brows. "I'll ask Jada of the ones that might be worth pursuing at a deeper level." This sounded like a lot of work, but it was work he was willing to chase. If he chased it, Borax would net that promotion faster than he could breathe. "I appreciate your time, Eion," and he couldn't quite help saying that with a low purr.

Well, that was settled. He'd tossed enough leads at the boy that maybe, possibly, next time Borax would be doing his own homework before coming to Faustite for anything else. Based on his impetus to do everything possible, it was statistically likely that Borax would happen on a promising lead — so long as he reported those leads, they could benefit from it.
As Adam finished up his report — because that's what this was, and Eion was inferring that this one preferred oral reports to written ones — Eion nodded in acknowledgement. The boy had plenty to do for now; it was enough to keep him occupied while Eion turned his attention back to the curious absence of youma around the Scar. While Adam's discoveries and interests were valid, they were discoveries and interests that belonged exclusively to Lieutenants and the occasional Captain. Eion would trust him to act as he saw fit, with the inclusion of his CO where necessary.
"Expect I'll hear about it when the time comes," Eion replied. He stood, then and took up his cup as well.
Then he paused, about to say this isn't how I normally spend time with boys, then decided better of it. He issued a perfunctory wave instead, deciding that he was tired to the point of being loopy if he was going to let that slip to a boy like that. Adam wasn't sweet like the others.
Whatever. He tossed his cup in the recycling bin and headed for the door. Ahead of him was a nigh insurmountable list of tasks, and now Borax had a taste of that himself.
