Everyone wanted to leave it alone, but Lysithea wanted to cuddle with it…it looked so utterly cute...and it didn’t seem dangerous, but she nodded regardless and glanced to Malus. “I’m finding someone new almost every time I come up here…I have no idea where they’re coming from, but I’m not upset about it, that’s for sure.” It made her happy, seeing life returning to her homeworld…like it was confirmation she was doing something right, like it was some kind of landmark that she was on the right path.
“I’m not going to lie, I really want to pet it, but if you guys are against it…I won’t, but…I’m putting my desire out there so hopefully it will leave me alone.”
She began walking again and swung the beam of her flashlight close to the ground, pausing when she saw a small pile of the little goat like creatures she had seen before. There was about five of them and they were cuddled on top of each other, sleeping peacefully, though one opened an eye and gave a soft bleat when the light hit it, though only turned away and snuggled closer to it’s fellows.
“...You know…maybe we should just wait until morning…if most critters are asleep…we won’t make any friends that way…” The disappointment was evident in her voice, but there was resignation too. She didn’t want to wake everything up just because she was excited.

Varuna pressed her lips together, concern visible on her face, although luckily it was dark enough that the others might not have been able to see it clearly.
“Even if it’s friendly, there are a lot of reasons why we shouldn’t touch them. We don’t know if there are any diseases it carries that can be transferred to humans. Maybe you’ll be immune to them, Lysi, but the rest of us might not be. We don’t know if touching it could hurt it, like moths and the powder on their wings, or if it has a defense mechanism we don’t know about, like porcupines,” she tried to explain, while also not waking up the other animals they came across. Little goats, it seemed.
Gently, Varuna reached out to give Lysithea a squeeze on her shoulder. There was obviously nothing she could do to actually stop her, but she hoped she would at least consider the very real dangers that came with handling wild life on Earth and apply it to the new animals that were appearing there.
“Wild animals aren’t meant to be domesticated. We could find you someone to make you some stuffed animals like them, so you can still keep them close while letting the real ones live in this peaceful world,” she suggested.

Adria looked up with a bit of alarm, but he wasn’t really sure if he should be afraid of anything. He couldn’t deny that he wanted to pet the little goats too, but he understood the risks of it. Especially because everything was still so new.
“Maybe if you spend more time here you’ll be able to research them?” Malus suggested; he stayed close to the group and avoided shining his lights on anything, just to make sure he didn’t agitate or annoy them. “Or maybe have more past life memories or something?” He wasn’t the expert on anything animal related, but he didn’t want Lysithea to be disappointed.
And, he didn’t want to think that he should have to avoid all the life on his world, too. Especially because the sheep seemed like they’d actually need to be sheared and he didn’t want to worry that he was doing the wrong thing or something.
“We could always go set up a campfire or something and roast marshmallows and talk until morning. We can still have a good night even if we’re not out exploring,” Malus suggested. “And it would let us see a little better, just to make sure you don’t suddenly have, like, snakes or something, too.”

Lysithea gave a sheepish grin and nodded at Varuna, almost amused. “I know I shouldn’t and I know why I shouldn’t…but it doesn’t and won’t ever stop me from wanting to, but if you insist on getting me a giant stuffed animal of a unicorn goat or a sparkling glowing…whatever the other thing is, I won’t say not ever, that’s for sure.”
She winked and then looked at the other two, nodding again. “Honestly? I think sitting by the fire and roasting marshmallows sounds really fun…and it’s a team building thing too, or…could be. I…don’t think there are snakes. I haven’t seen any yet but…maybe someday.”
Hopefully not though…and if there were…she hoped they weren’t venomous…that would be the last thing she would need in a place with unicorns…bah.
“I did bring things for smores and I have a portable campfire so…if you’re all good, we can head back and just enjoy the rest of the night without worrying about critters.”
Not very exciting, but wholesome. And…honestly, perhaps a lot more fun.

Varuna sighed softly to herself, crossing her arms over her chest once more as the others talked about what they should do. She didn’t want to disappoint them, but it wasn’t her fault animals were at the forefront of her mind. They couldn’t speak, so she had to speak for them. She knew Lysithea and the others meant well, but they also had no idea about what they were or if they would get sick from just being around humans.
She glanced around again wondering about what other animals were sleeping, or eating, or just watching nearby. She also wondered if she’d killed the energetic mood, but… she couldn’t help it.
So she nodded in agreement about making a campfire. They would have to do some work to clear out a place for it where it was safe. She hadn’t needed to build a fire before, but she’d seen it done in documentaries. The last thing she wanted was for them to catch the place on fire.
