Alastor shrugged, just a bit. He didn’t pretend to understand the greater cosmic plan of the universe, nor did he have any desire to make anything more of it than it was.
“Maybe.”
It was best when you didn’t have to rely on anyone at all, but he wasn’t so arrogant to think that he could do everything on his own. He wouldn’t have been able to save his world on his own.
They wouldn’t be able to save Earth alone.
“I hope I’ll never need you again, but I appreciate the offer all the same. And if you ever need help, don’t hesitate to ask me. I want to repay you for what you’ve done, but I want to make sure I’m leaving things better off than they are now.”
He looked across her world and took in the uniqueness of it, and searched for all the little life she had here that was new to him.
“I don’t envy you. I have gaps in my memory but I don’t think I’ve lost anything important.” Now that he remembered the truth, at least. For as bitter as some of it was. “I can’t imagine what it’s like to come into a new life with so many questions. I hope you find all of your answers.”

“I hope that you never have to deal with what I went through! I hope that nobody ever does again…it…”
It was hell, or…at least as close to hell as Lysithea could imagine.
“It’s not something I’d wish on my greatest enemy, honestly. I know that there are ways now to safeguard against corruption..and I think I’m going to look into it…it…requires a bond with your homeworld, from my understanding…” She closed her eyes for a moment and felt a little downcast that such a thing hadn’t yet happened, even though she tried to come up here more often…even though there were animals again.
“One day. I’ll figure it out one day…and the biggest goal I want is just to help those who Chaos has taken. I…and I know this isn’t an opinion that’s shared by everyone, but…everyone has good in them somewhere, I’m sure of it…and if i can help find that good…I will. I want to believe that the end of this war can happen…and I want to do whatever I can to bring it. If. That doesn’t sound too…well. Stupid.”
Not everyone had good in them, Lysithea did know that but...it didn’t mean she would ever give up trying to find it. No matter the cost.

There were a lot of things that Alastor didn't think anyone would have to deal with or go through. Briefly, he thought of Percy. Of Atticus. Of the people on his world who had to watch as it withered and died around them.
He pushed the thoughts from his mind quickly; he couldn’t afford to think about everything he’d seen that was unfair.
“I hope you can do that. It’s a lofty goal, but I don’t think anything is unachievable.” Not with enough help, or effort.
Or time.
She was young, and full of hope. He didn’t want to take that from her. He’d seen darkness in people, and he’d lost good people to that darkness.
If he hadn’t had others on Earth guiding him, he might have just killed everyone infected with chaos. It was a poison that could spread. Maybe he’d have given them one chance, but if they weren’t trying to get better after that, they were better off at the Cauldron. Where they couldn’t corrupt others.
Where they couldn’t destroy starseeds, permanently.
“It’s a tough call,” he said. He hadn’t met enough of them to need to give anyone a chance, much less a second one. He spent most of his time dealing with youma, anyway.
“Just make sure to take care of yourself and know when to pull back or call for help. I don’t want someone to take advantage of your hopefulness. You have a lot of people who care for you, don’t you? Don’t let yourself get hurt for someone who doesn’t.”

“I know to take care of myself…I know that very well. And I know that…I need to tell someone when I’m trying to save someone else…I think. I think I must have kept it to myself when I was first helping Ilse, because nobody seemed to know about her apart from me…and I think…that was a weakness that I caused in myself.”
Lysithea didn’t know why she was telling him, other than it was on her mind. But.
“Thank you for coming to talk with me, Alastor. It’s nice to have you as a friend. Nice to see what the result of Senshi coming together can really be. You let me know when you’re ready to give me a real tour of your world someday, won’t you? I’ll be sure to bring a good lunch when that day comes…just, try to give me a few days notice.” She grinned, pleased to have found a way to move away from the topic that seemed to be trying to smother her, and took another cookie, biting half of it off in one go.

Alastor nodded again, and a fresh smile blossomed on his face. Her enthusiasm for eating her cookie inspired him to help himself to one, and he nodded approvingly at that–and agreeably to her request. He savored the taste for just a moment before it was gone from his mouth and he was able to speak again.
“I can do that. I’d be glad to give you a tour. Hopefully I’ll have things cleaned up a bit, I don’t even know where I want to start. But I’ll be glad to show you what we worked so hard to save. It might take a little time to get things a bit more straightened up, but soon. And, I’ll make sure to give you plenty of advance notice. I won’t spring it on you, I promise. But, it seems like you’re on a good path. Keep it up, I hope good things will come to you. Your friends are lucky to have you. And, I’m happy to be considered among them.”
Maybe he could get a tour of her world sometime, too.
And grab one of those goats along the way, just to see if they were as friendly as they looked.
