Pensive expression remaining in place, Lioe gave his sister's arm a squeeze of support. He wasn't quite sure he knew that feeling.. and it left him with that rare pit in his belly. He'd never been as driven as the rest of his family. He just knew what he enjoyed and went with the flow. To want something so badly that you were willing to do anything to get it... What was that feeling?
"I'm not going to tell anyone," he assured softly, eyes lifting a little to make sure Zadia knew he was serious. He didn't like it, but he wasn't going to go against something so important to Zadia... "I don't know what Fowler considers worth the risk, but I'm betting he's less concerned about who gets affected by his work..." He sighed and let his thoughts end there. Pushing it would only be exhausting for the both of them. Still, this was the first time his sister had been so open with him in a while. He was admittedly curious. "What is it you're looking so hard for?"

She knew it was a risk. Everyday that she walked into the apothecary was another day that the Security Sector might be waiting for her, but Zadia went anyway. For every moment that her heart thrummed out of fear it beat just as fast with excitement and she couldn’t find it in her to walk away.
“Thank you.” She offered him a soft smile, and shifted her hands so that she was just softly holding onto his. “What do I want? That’s…I don’t really know. Something new? Knowledge that no one else has? ….It’s complicated.” Taking a step back, she gave him a little tug. “Come on, I think it’s about time we went home.”

Complicated... As much as he might hate it, Lioe knew that there was little in the world that could be described as otherwise. One of the few uncomplicated things was his devotion to his siblings. "Guess it's worth thinking about a little harder," he encouraged with a gentle squeeze of his hand. If anything happened to his sister because Fowler led her down the wrong path... He would actually have to do something.
For now, he just had to believe Zadia would truly be able to see when it was time to back off and find another way to her dreams.
Mention of home made his smile lift the slightest bit. Yes, someplace safer that out here. "You said we'd be picking up dinner for a change," he reminded. He looked around, his mouth pressing into a soft line. He wasn't a back alley kind of guy. He had no idea where they'd gone. "If you can get us to one of the main roads, we can pick up something on the way."

“I did. There’s a new pub down the way that just opened. I thought we could get something and bring it home. I’ve heard the chef is from Tale.” She hoped it wasn’t a lie and that he wasn’t just a cook who happened to be from Tale who was cooking local fare. What she wouldn’t do for roasted roscuta…
With a comforting squeeze to his hand, Zadia led them back out onto the street. She’d have to be more careful from now in one some ways, but now that Lioe knew of the kind of work she did maybe he wouldn’t ask why she had notebooks he couldn’t read or why she was working late. It was a hope, and a vain one at that, but one she would hold onto.

His brow rose with interest at the mention of the chef, his mind going the same direction as his sister's. Hopefully, that meant there would be actual Tale food available... Wouldn't that be a treat?
He held onto his sister gently but securely as they made their way out to a more familiar route. For now, Lioe would simply slip back into his usual role of silent supporter. If Zadia needed anything down the line, at least he felt like he would be a little more mentally prepared for the occasion. There was a quiet pride in knowing he had been entrusted with his sister's secret despite the questionable parts of it all. As much as the concerned pit in his belly remained, a small smile adorned his lips as well. It was a freaky world to get a peek into, but at least Zadia was there for mutual support should any of it take a turn for the worst.
