Rajani 4 Hearing the gripes of the girls she barely contained her chuckle before she reached up and lightly poked Ishani in the forehead. "Flew deals with the chimney, remember. Your uncle used to complain about it." Though she supposed Merritt didn't always say the word 'Flew' so the girls could get confused. Still she looked at Hargitt as he told the twins to keep an eye on one another. A good idea. No need to have them develop a fear of fires. She followed down after him, not paying much attention to those behind her. So long as they didn't touch her or Ishani then there would be no issue. "Go for the door first if its not blocked, we need to get the girls out before we handle anything else." Rajani might not be the cuddliest of parents but she did prioritize the girls' safety, just as Hargitt did.

Ishani 5
When her forehead was poked Ishani stuck her tongue out. "He complained a lot though." She loved her Auntie; she barely spoke and always had fresh bread for them. Uncle Merritt though...one minute he was happy and the next he was so whiny!
As Harlei turned around, she raised a hand to wave to her and then nearly lost her grip on Rajani. "It is! And I think....that roll lookin' guy in the back is the end." She briefly turned just enough to very blatantly point out the roundest man she'd ever seen near the back of the pack. Thankfully he hadn't noticed her yet, but after living in a family of lean, muscular folk his presence was something of a spectacle for her.

Hargitt 5
Hargitt didn't need to be told twice. He was already quickly making his way down the narrow, well worn stair case in the hopes of making it there before a group. So far it looked like they were ahead of the crowd, which meant a greater chance of getting out the door before anyone else.
And though there were a few by the open door, it was the smoke billowing into the space from the lower hall that caught his attention. If he didn't have Harlei in his arms he might have stopped longer, but Hargitt didn't need to see the flame to know the danger. Instead, he hustled them outside and into the snow...
...just in time to see an iceling get slugged in the jaw.
A young hybrid stood over him, fury building in her crimson eyes. Hargitt had been cognizant enough to know this was the inn keeper's daughter, but the man trying to scramble away from her was a stranger.
"How could you be so stupid?! Because of you we could lose EVERYTHING!" She shrieked.

Harlei 5
She agreed with her sister, their uncle complained a lot. About everything. Harlei wasn't even sure if he was really related since their dad didn't complain as much. Not that she said that out loud. With the confirmation that everyone was playing follow the leader she giggled and adjusted so that she could sit up just a little bit higher. "They're not doing it right. They should be holding something in their arms like papa and mama."
When they were outside she missed the iceling getting hit but she heard the shriek and turned instantly to look at the woman. Her eyes went wide and she clung to her dad just a little bit more do to the sudden fright. "Papa? Why is she yelling at them like that?"

Rajani 5 With Ishani almost losing grip she adjusted her own so that even if the girl were to not hold on she wouldn't go anywhere. Then her other hand went out as usual in a crowd to take hold of Hargitt's shirt tail so she couldn't be separated from him. Getting overwhelmed by strangers right now would not be the best outcome. Of course it also allowed her to look around while she still followed him. She noticed the same smoke he did, though she had just a second longer to observe it. When they were outside her attention was back to where they were going and when she witnessed the inn keeper's daughter slug a man in the jaw she narrowed her eyes a bit. The shifter supposed that answered the question of who was playing with fire. Though for a second she had doubts. Icelings lived in the cold all the time and were basically raised around fireplaces to keep themselves warm, it would seem fire safety would be the first thing they would learn. At least, she would think so. Rajani gave a questioning glance to Hargitt. She didn't care either way who set the fire, accident or not, just that they would get their things out or stop it before everything was gone. "We going back for our stuff or to that room?" Raj was alright with either option. She owed nothing to the inn keeper other than what was paid for the night, so if their home burnt down it would mean nothing to her, but Hargitt usually had more of a soft spot for things.

Hargitt 6
"I said I was sorry! I didn't even notice the fireplace..." By that point the slur in the icelings voice was evident. "I just wanted to dry my cloak." The cheek that hadn't been hit was red, though admittedly not nearly as much as the other.
The innkeep's daughter raised a hand as if to hit him again, but pulled it back with a snarl. Now that they were gathering a crowd she took a deep breath, then turned to address them with a stressed smile. "Is everyone alright? Sorry to wake you! This idiot decided to leave his things next to the fireplace overnight and caught his room on fire."
'Safe to stay' was entirely different than 'will smell like smoke for the next week'. Scrunching his nose, Hargitt turned to look at Harlei. "Remember when Uncle Merritt broke my bow and had to pay for a new one? It's like that." That man was going to owe them a lot. Subconsciously Hargitt shifted himself and Harlei between the others and the crowd. Leaning closer to Rajani, he murmured, "Your call. We can go back to salvage what's good once we get the go ahead, but for now I'd like to get the girls someplace warm."

Ishani 6So because that man did something wrong they had to go outside before the sun when they didn't have to?! "Mama, you should hit him too," Ishani grumbled. Rajani would have been able to make a far bigger bruise than what that lady was doing. And how come they weren't going back in? Furrowing her brow, she looked to her parents, her sister, and then the group around them. "What about Mr. Snuffy? Is he going to be okay?" Mr. Snuffy was Ishani's favorite toy; it was a well loved toy she'd gotten from her cousins in Sauti that at one time resembled a roati and now was just 'an animal'.

Harlei 6
As her father explained that the man more or less had to pay to replace something he'd broken she looked at the iceling again. "Shouldn't break things if you can't pay for them." Then of course she heard her sister tell their mother that she should hit him as well. That made her giggle.
"Can we go back in now?" She might be in a blanket but it was still a bit chilly and her poor toes were starting to get cold.

Rajani 6 She looked at Ishani and shook her head a bit. "If I did that then he'd fall asleep outside in the cold." Plus it wasn't her job to punish someone for destroying the Inn. It wasn't like she was getting paid for it. The shifter then looked at Hargitt as he left the choice up to her. In truth there were too many people and it was likely that more than one would want to lend a hand. Which would be beneficial but it would be too much for her. She glanced back at the Inn to take in the situation. When she turned back to her best friend she adjusted their daughter in her arms. "I say we get the girls situated then get our things. Neither one of us has the mental patience to deal with this." She could tell he was tired, he'd almost walked out without his boots after all, and she was just not a people person when he wasn't around or in the best mood to manage her.

Hargitt 7
Wouldn't be such a bad thing. Just watching the iceling try to stand was irritating, especially now that he was finally waking up enough to notice the cold. While the worst of the storm had passed it had been steadily snowing on the group and Hargitt reached over to pull the blanket up around Harlei's head.
"Stable it is." He'd dropped the cart off with their pack animal late the night before and while it wasn't as 'grand' as a room it would be warm enough. They could take a few hale bales up into the cart itself and make a comfortable spot to finish sleeping before heading out with the light. "This is why I hate villages," Hargitt grumbled before it shifted into a yawn and he started to trudge through the snow.

Ishani 7
Now the the excitement was starting to die down fatigue was settling in for Ishani. The cold just made her huddle up closer to Rajani, if that was even possible, and lay her head against the shifter's collarbone. Even now, with the snow falling down around them, she could still smell smoke. Occasionally noises from inside let her know there were people inside, trying to tamp down on the worst of it, but since no fire came out the front she wasn't worried. Out of sight, out of mind and if her parents weren't running anymore then she didn't care.
She didn't want to go to the stable, she wanted to go back to bed with Harlei, but for once Ishani was too tired to voice her complaints.

Harlei 7
She mimicked her dad and yawned, snuggling into the blanket that was pulled up over her head. She turned her head so that she was able to keep her eyes on her sister but otherwise laid her head against Hargitt. She heard that they weren't going back inside but were headed to the stable. At first she thought they might be leaving but she didn't really think it would be a good idea. Harlei gave a grumble before taking in a deep breath and letting it out.

Rajani 7 Her attention shifted to be completely on Hargitt. As Ishani rested against her she made sure to pull the blankets tighter around the girl. When her friend started walking toward the stable she followed along behind him. "If you want to get the girls situated I can go back up and get our things." Normally she would have sent him back in due to all the people but she noticed how tired he was. Granted the shifter was tired as well but sleep would be easy to come back to her once she got comfortable.
