She had to admit she was impressed with how fast he managed to braid her one side. So she reached up with one hand to touch it, feel out how well it was done. From what she could tell it wasn’t that bad, her hair just wasn’t the greatest at cooperation when it was twisted into different styles. She was going farther up the braid to see how low he had started the hairstyle when she felt an itch on her neck so she moved her hand to scratch at it.

He noticed that his mother was touching the braid. It made him pause in his moments for a second to watch, seeing what she was doing. But then he saw that her hand was moving toward the other braid. He wasn’t done with that one yet! So he did what anyone would do. He smacked her hand! “Not done.” Was the only explanation he was willing to give for why he’d done it. There was no real force behind it but it was enough to let her know not to go any farther.

The feeling of her hand being smacked made her stop moving her hand and almost turn her head to look at Jiu but then she heard his words. Terrwyn guessed he thought she was going to touch the other side as she had on the one side. So she chuckled and nodded her head. “Alright. But my neck itches, can I scratch it?” While she wasn’t used to asking permission she didn’t want to make him think she was trying to feel the braid before it was done.

He thought about it for a second before he nodded his head and went back to braiding. He knew his mother couldn’t see his nod but he also knew she was smart enough to know that if he had gotten busy again then she wouldn’t care that she scratched the itch on her neck. He just wanted to finish her hair. And that was exactly what he did. Within another moment or two her hair was tied up and oth sides were braided, though one was a bit longer than the other, but who cared?

She waited to see if he would answer her but then he went back to what he was doing. Since he didn’t smack her hand again or tell her no she took it as a yes and moved so that she could scratch her neck. Just a few runs over with her nails and then she put her hand in her lap to wait until he was finished. When she felt him put the tie in she turned her head and smiled at him. “Thank you.”
