Tac's brow knit slightly, but he otherwise kept his expression calm. Ivyn... The guy that had picked up what Tac himself had been unable to carry. And more Aishans ruining what little semblance of stability his brother had found.... a plague on this land. "It's good of you to go on now and take his staff home," he noted, a nugget of pride in his mind at this hint of his brother's emotional maturity.
Slick? Tac pursed his lips and raised his chin. "I don't know what you're thinking, but it is simply the fulfillment of an overdue payment that was promised." Perhaps it was a little bit more than just that...but he certainly did not want to be building any sort of less-than professional reputation. Yet, he didn't work on charity balances aside from special occasions, either.
"That's a relief. They're fast when they're not worn down from healing, and any new riding can be rough on the body."

So long as they don’t run me off. He’d thought a time or two about how Ivyn’s family would react to seeing his staff again. If he’d been able to straight to Zena after leaving Yael then maybe they would have thought he’d been what killed him, but now…Maybe now they would let him finish this.
“I think it’s also called…extension? Exor….extortion.” Finn had heard the word enough time in passing to know it’s meaning, even if he couldn’t recall the details. Still, he raised his hands and decided he wasn’t going to fight Tacrith on it. If he wanted to claim he wasn’t getting a little corrupted from life in Oba then so be it, but the action was oddly touching all the same.
“If I can ride one to the edge of the desert then I might book passage with a caravan.” Even bringing it to mind, however, caused him to scowl. Spending weeks in a traveling wagon with others didn’t settle well with him, but he also wasn’t as familiar with the terrain as they would be.

"Extortion!" he gasped out with an almost pouty huff. "Honestly. Don't toss me into the ring with such scoundrels. If he wants to pay me some other way, I just might accept that instead." ....Of course he was going to insist on the xaraan, hinted by the tiniest curl of a smirk at the corner of his lips... but Finn didn't need to know that. Living in Oba had certainly toughened him up in some ways, but certain others brought out a softer side as well. He would help his brother get what was needed.
His brow knit slightly at mention of the caravan, but he ultimately nodded with agreement. "We'l be sure you have a map that you can read, but a caravan would certainly be safer than wandering across Tendaji on your own." His demeanor softened once more, eyes shifting over to the room Finn had been occupying. It would ease his mind to know Finn wasn't alone.. but now he was going to be the one alone. He knew he would adjust, but who would have thought that he would be concerned about it at all!
"I'd gotten quite used to you being here," he admitted, keeping his voice calm against the unusual emotions. "You be sure you make it out there in one piece, you hear?"

"It was nice having a place to come back to." The only other time in his life that he'd had that sort of 'stability' that Finn could remember was when he lived with Llyr. There was a clear difference between the men, however; Tacrith had never lied to him and didn't raise a hand when he messed up. He had clothes to protect his skin from the sun, a steady income from his part time work at the stable, and a place to come back to when it rained.
He wasn't sure how long he would stay with Tacrith or if one day he would find a place of his own, but for now...For now he was pretty happy with the way things were. "I will; so long as you don't get into any trouble while I'm gone."

Tacrith sighed softly. It was a relief to hear Finn's words. As visible as the changes were, it was still good to get the verbal validation that he had made the right choice when he had first taken his brother in. He had spent his life making up for the family he hadn't been able to save... and there Finn stood proving that it wasn't all for nothing.
Tac chuckled lightly and raised a hand. "I'll be sure I do not go extorting too many people," he promised. With his work, he was usually the one helping others who had gotten into trouble. There was plenty enough out there in Oba; he didn't need to make his own.
