Lioe had started to lean forward to give his full attention to Uzumati's answer, but mention of exposed backs made him lean back again. With Uzumati right there in front of him, it was easy to remember how he had left his own back exposed once. Luckily, the beastman had been there to save him. His eyes shifted toward the road, back to Uzu, and then he nodded. It really was opposite lives... Lioe would have been fine facing a wall so he wouldn't have to look at anybody.
An amused smile lifted with Uzu's knowing grin, clearly seeing the server come outside. After thanking her for the food, he plucked up his club with his hands and took a full bite. Yes, just as tasty as ever! Noticing the waiting, he nodded to confirm his satisfaction.
To one side, a youngling was staring at Uzumati with clear interest, going so far as to turn in her chair to peek over the back of it. She watched intently, almost as though curious to see how the strange man would eat. Would he use the utensils??

A small smile crossed Uzumati's lips as he noticed the change in Lioe's position whenever he answered the question. It looked like his younger brother was learning quickly enough. Maybe if he ever visited Tale in the future Uzumati wouldn't have to rescue Lioe from a witu. The tease made his gaze brighten with amusement but he simply kept it to himself as the food arrived in time. He caught sight of the youngling from the corner of his gaze, uncertain what they were waiting for before turning back to his food. It wasn't as if the youngling was starving and about to come after him, right? Could younglings turn rabid in Belrea? The very though both amused and unnerved Uzumati because there truly was a lot he did not know about this city.
Slowly but surely he picked up the knife in turn and whereas someone else may have cut the steak into small pieces, the wild man simply cut it cleanly in half. Placing the knife back down Uzumati opted to pierce one side with a fork so that he could lift it to his mouth and take a large bite. While it was not the messiest way of eating it definitely was a bit unique compared to the rest who took their time cutting the meat and taking small bites. Uzumati though didn't like how the meat got cold so quickly and chose to do his best to cut it less and take bigger bites. "Mmm." He managed as he swallowed yet another bite, the steak quickly disappearing from his plate. Though he did dare to take a peek back towards the youngling, warily reaching for the second half of the steak before continuing on with his meal just in case the youngling did decide to chase after his food. If one couldn't trust durufs in Belrea from taking their food could they trust anyone else?

From her little perch, the youngling ducked a little when she noticed she had been seen. Still, her green eyes wouldn't leave the man until she got her answer. When the large half sections were chosen, she giggled and watched the first part get devoured. By then, her mother noticed and gave her butt a light swat. Though disappointed, the girl turned back around to finish her own meal.
Lioe smirked lightly at the youngling's antics. If only she could have seen Uzumati in his more natural state! That would have been interesting to see her reaction. He did watch closely at first as well though, hopeful to see approval on the beastman's face in those first few bites.
There it was!
Relieved, he focused on his meal. Of course, he was a slower eater than Uzumati, picking through the food to savor the surprise meal. It wasn't long before the tension of memories was forgotten and his posture eased into a more relaxed position contently.

Swallowing his final bite, Uzumati quickly wiped his mouth with the back of his hand before remember the napkin. There was a bit of a crinkle to his expression, his slight annoyance at the customs showing through but he quickly dabbed the cloth against his arm and then back to his mouth to make certain there wasn't any juice from the steak. It truly had been delicious! But now his gaze was on the cobbler in front of them. Surprisingly though Uzumati was patient and waited for Lioe to finish his sandwich, the man amused by the obvious posture change as the younger earthling got caught up in his meal. At least they weren't in any immediate danger especially now that the youngling had been tamed by her mother. The very thought brought a small chuckle to his lips. It definitely was something Eujanie would have done or better yet his daughter would have run up to them as a youngling to demand any answers or food if she wanted. There was no holding back that wild child.
Still, as Lioe finished eating the man pushed a plate of cobbler towards him. "Final dessert?" He offered with a small smile. Hopefully this would not be their final meal but Uzumati honestly never knew when he would return to Belrea or if Lioe would ever visit Tale. Either way Uzumati was just thankful that the family had gotten to spend time together even though he was honestly well ready to return home and rest up before winter. It took a lot to prepare for the colder months in Tale and Uzumati was already imagining all the projects that awaited his return to the little forest his family called home.

Caught up in his meal, it was easy enough to not stare as Uzumati wrestled with the napkin. There wasn't exactly a stream right there to rinse their hands at! Lioe remained content throughout the sandwich and chased it down with another drink. The offer of the dessert made him notice Uzu had waited for him. Or he had just been letting his stomach settle. Either way~ Lioe nodded. "I've got room for a little more," he said gratefully as he accepted the offering.
Visiting family wasn't always easy, but this time had gone surprisingly well. At the least, he could count one more person in his comfort zone of family relations. A quiet meal out? What more could he have asked for?
