Uzumati frowned thoughtfully as he leaned forward to better inspect the picture. While the inscription looked mostly like gibberish to him, the man could at least appreciate the drawing. “Witu.” He agreed with Valerian as he nodded his head. Even though there were obvious differences, the look that the artist had captured definitely screamed a dangerous predator. It definitely was something that would cause trouble to any lone earthling wandering the nearby mountains. Though he did somewhat wish that was what he had encountered instead of that dage. That was what the woman had called it at least. Uzumati had fought many things in his life but that beast was a monster in comparison, a giant menace indeed.

“Glad I’m not alone there.” Joked Valerian as he turned the page away from the fierce looking beast to look for something gentler, a break from the predators of the area. “Oh.'' He blinked before holding the book up closer so that Uzumati could get a better look at the delicate creatures he had found. “It says Lyari. Aren’t they pretty? I wish we could have a group of them back home.” Capramels were great and all but these guys were just so pretty. The little picture showed three of the slender hooved animals with their horns and little nubs. The nubs had to belong to the females based upon what Valerian read while the horns represented male lyari.

Ah, he recognized those. Uzumati nodded before blinking thoughtfully towards Valerian. Maybe he could take him to see some? But then he remembered the dage and quickly pushed the thought to the side. Next trip he would consider that option and maybe they could find a way to bring a couple home. If they could set up a small animal pen then it wouldn’t hurt to have a few animals back home now that the children were old enough to help with more complicated chores and tasks. Uzumati was home more often too now that he worked in carpentry and only hunted a few times in the autumn for furs to trade with the traveling merchants. He could work on a few more additions to the house and their yard and gardens.

“You pondering something?” Valerian teased lightly before setting the book back down. “Maybe we could browse through this a little at a time? So just a few more pages.” He offered before glancing back one final time. “Let’s finish up eating and then head back so that we can meet everyone when they return from shopping at the local market.” He was happy enough with his informational book and happy that his father was interested in looking through the pictures together. They could glance through a few more pages, finish eating and then go back to the cottage to see what the afternoon would hold for the whole family. That sounded like a lovely day for him.

Uzumati nodded, a small smile on his lips as he recognized his son’s happiness. At least this trip had been really good for the family. Uzumati settled down to finish his meal, having Valerian quickly go to the next page whenever they found the dage and the pair of them continued their light conversation and food before packing up to go back to the cottage where their next adventure awaited them.
