With a stunned expression he looked at his grandma again before he looked at Corvus. Since he was still little he'd need help taking care of a big beast but he didn't think his parents would mind helping him. His mother basically let him and his brother have anything they asked for unless it was unsafe and then she usually explained why. That's how the three of them had so much wisdom.
A determined look formed on his face as he once more looked at Nin. "I need to tell dad." If he was going to have a best friend then he'd need a place to put it.

No wonder Kiyelt liked to do this so much. The look on his face was just priceless. "Yes I imagine your Dad would be a big help, janarim are one of his specialties after all." Thal would help him find what he needed for his new beastie. She was so proud of Jiu, he always though things through first, like Tathy and unlike Innsaei. But together they made a working unit that was a wonder to behold, and they were together almost all of the time.
She had no doubt that Corvus had just found himself the best Master ever.

There was no smile on his face but his posture changed to show a bit of pride. His dad would help him with Corvus and he could show his brothers his new friend. Jiu would also work with the beast to be sure that he was nice to his brothers as well. He didn't want to risk one of them getting hurt.
He looked back at his grandmother before he looked at the other Janarim in the pen. They still needed to look them over. He still wasn't thrilled about the gender check though. Just the thought of it made him wrinkle his nose. Was there a way to get out of that one? Although he was curious to see if the other creatures were as nice as the one he was currently sitting on.

"Congrats on taming your first critter!" She giggled. "Take after your Daddy, I think his first was Myr if I'm correct in my memory, but he loves Janarim too."
His new pet was released into the pen and she caught the next beastie who was in fact quite unimpressed. Tossing her head...this one had not been properly labled, and hissing defiantly. "I have a feeling that she is either sore, or less than tame. Maybe this will be your Dad's new project. I'll check the alignment of her spine, if it is not that then its pure attitude." She felt the bones and found that one was a bit off. Quickly before the beast figured her out and got ornery she aligned it up and popped the column back into place. "That should help, her back was out. I'll make sure she gets some herbs for that, hopefully it sweetens her cranky out."
Sometimes she used the same herbs on Ushi when he was in a particularly rotten mood.

Once he was down and the beast was back in the pen with the others he watched. The fact that the next one to be looked at was female made him huff. Grandma was right about them being mislabeled.
Still, he watched as she handled the beast and managed to hopefully find out why it was so cranky. He didn't think he would have thought about that. Likely Jiu would have chalked it up as attitude and left it at that.
He settled in to watch the rest of the check ups with a bit of curiosity.
