The industrialist in him curled it's lip at the thought of sea travel. Eliazer, despite his humble home life, had been exposed to a fair bit of innovative travel due to his Belrean connections and now that he was faced with weeks on the open ocean he felt...resigned? The thought was an unappealing garnish on an appalling meal, but it had to be done.
He couldn't imagine passage would be much, though; surely it was cheaper compared to what it would take to keep an airship afloat. Still, hearing about Honi selling things caught his attention and he turned a sharp, cautious look her way before scrawling something quickly into the book.
"Nothing important?"
If she'd hocked something personal he'd go back and steal it.
He held it up, and reached around her to tap on it, but before he could repeat the action a sandwich was being shoved at him. For a moment Eliazer opened his eyes, adjusting himself to the view before opening his maw and taking a bite.

Honi remained focused on making sure the sandwich got attention before she looked to the paper. After a pause, she smiled gently and shook her head. "No, it was things at my stall. Things I was going to sell whether or not you were there." Her eyes lowered with regret. "Anything of my own that I could sell is back in my pack.. at the stall." Maybe they would have been a little better off if she'd had the mind to grab it..
Brow knitting slightly, her free hand raised to her necklace. Stiffening her lip, she looked back up and nodded. "Our lives are worth more than anything I could possibly own though. We can use my jewelry to trade for passage as well, or anything it can cover once we reach Belrea. Whatever.. whatever we need to get through this."
Having a plan really was helping her to focus and take the edge off of the panic she had been feeling. Once they were on the boat where there would be nothing but waiting.. she couldn't guarantee the panic wouldn't return. For now, working out the plan through her mind was helpful.

Eliazer took another bite, making a big show of it too, but his worry never faded. If he could manage to sneak back to the stall....No, even if he did they likely would have already raided it and everything would be in custody. With any luck her personal belongings would at least be taken back to her family at some point.
Something to take her mind off things...something to...Furrowing his brow, Eliazer wrote out;
"I can you teach you to sign on the ship if you want. It would make communication easier when we're moving." And it would give them something to do when they couldn't sleep. "We can start, anyway. We'll run out of paper eventually."

Seeing the sandwich get more focus, Honi felt a lighter smile rise. With a bite from her own meal, she tried to get herself to settle in. It was going to be a long night. If she was going to be of any use in getting to the docks, she was going to need some sleep... though she doubted any would come until much later.
The words written out managed to bring up a slightly more hopeful smile. She let out a long breath and sank against Eli's side. "That would be helpful," she agreed. She would only need one note to send to her family, but then the rest.. learning how to communicate with Eli on his terms.. It even managed to rustle up a little bit of play. "Too bad I won't have any clay to show you any pottery on the trip," she mused softly. This was going to be hell... but she wasn't alone.

Once this was all over, because one day it [i[would be, she teach him all the pottery she wanted. He would welcome it even if he didn't have a creative bone in his body and would likely get snapped at for doing something wrong. At least then things would have calmed down enough for life to be normal again.
Even if he knew it was all a lie and Eliazer believed whole heartedly he wouldn't be walking out of this one unscathed.
Pulling her close, the injured Geian settled in to finish his last few bites of sandwich as the night carried on around them.
