Now it was Kayde's turn to look at her with widened eyes. Right. He'd forgotten people who lived together usually shared a bed and all that. Honestly, he'd only been thinking about how nice it would be to just get away from here, in one house because that was cheaper.

"Two rooms!" the Leaf man said a little too quickly, a blush of his own highlighting his cheeks as he tried to steer his mind somewhere else. Anywhere else, while also comforting her on what his motives here were. "It'd just be...Cheaper. Right?" He cleared his throat, glancing down at the floor of the forest to search for the plant, providing himself with a suitable distraction. Still no luck yet. "I don't like the idea of staying here. Leaving as soon as possible seemed like a good idea in my head."

"I...I like it! I think it's a good idea!" Elka closed her mouth after that, pursing her lips slightly. She felt like she said that too fast, like she was trying to make him feel bad about an awful suggestion. But he didn't make an awful suggestion. Getting away from Neued, better yet all of Jauhar, was a good idea. The only thing that had concerned her he'd already settled. She didn't think she'd mind sharing a house with him. She just didn't want to crawl into a bed with him. At least not so soon. She wanted to take things slower this time. Enjoy their time in more leisure. She'd been far too foolhardy before, running off instantly with a boy she barely knew.

"I'll start saving, too! Really!" Okay, that last word had a lot more enthusiasm in it than she wanted. She saw the look he was giving her. He didn't belief she could save with him. If she really needed to, she could stop shopping so much. Maybe indulge in a little here and there. You couldn't expect her to stop entirely. That was unreasonable. Having new things to show off and be excited for made life worth living.

Kayde only smiled at her claims. Oh, he believed she would try. He just didn't have faith in her succeeding as much as she probably thought she would. Which was fine. He wasn't much of a spender. Never had been. Money was easy for him to save up and he'd already had a little bit of a pocket from his time as an acrobat, so they were already partly there. Only partly.

He patted Elka on the shoulder, as if he were comforting her. "I know you will." He didn't sound confident, which earned him a frown. When he only laughed at her expression, she stuck out her tongue at him, clearly not offended by anything he'd said. Good. That could have ended badly. Him and that honest mouth of his got him into a lot of trouble with Elka years ago, before he'd really started to learn how to control it. Sometimes things still slipped out, especially when he was comfortable. "How about you give me a set amount each week?"

A debt to pay off every week sounded good to her. That way, she didn't have to stress so much over if she'd have enough to give him from her own salary and she could still do her shopping on the side. Next time she went out, she should get him something for always being so nice and patient with her. Elka knew she could be a bit of a handful sometimes. It wasn't really on purpose. At least not most of the time. It wasn't like she was one of those people who delighted in making others angry. The truth was she didn't really care about most people or what they thought. No one but Kayde had proven themselves worthy of her respect.

"Preeeetty sure I can do that, yes." She put a lot of emphasis on the first word, drawing it out to make fun of herself. Hey, credit where credit was due. She might be a brat to everyone else, but she was a self-aware brat.

"If not, I'll add interest every single week if you can't pay it," Kayde answered, trying to sound and look serious, but failing when his face split into a grin at her reaction. Man, sometimes she was so gullible. His joke earned him a smack on the arm and another upturn of her nose. Which only made him laugh harder.

They discussed the plan as they walked, their eyes going back down to the forest floor to keep an eye out for that plant. Half the time spent looking for the second one had been in fooling around, cracking jokes at the others expense. It was nice to be on friendly terms with Elka, again. Her smile was radiating in her face. He always said she should smile more often and not frown so much at everyone. She might have made more friends in all the years she'd been here, too. Not that he'd tell her that. No, that was something at least he could keep himself from letting loose from his thoughts.

"Hey!" Kayde suddenly shouted, putting out an arm to stop the Ice woman from going any further. He pointed down at the ground, where a plant was nestled among the roots of a large tree. "Get the small shovel from my bag, please," he instructed as he bent down to inspect the plant. It looked like it'd be an easy one to get out. He set to work, already feeling excited at the prospect of being able to spend the rest of the day more leisurely.
