I'm Inspired to Write!
Preference Order: Purple Male Centaur, Pink Female Elaphotaur, Purple Female Centaur
Personality: Taliesin is an adventurous, happy-go-lucky 'taur, sensitive to others' feelings and kind to everyone. He plays well with the children in his herd and is something of a bard, making music for the entertainment of others.
History: He is definitely a herd creature; born outside of a herd, he grew up depressed and lonely, with only his music for company. When his current herd took him in, he was overjoyed! He has been a loyal and active member since then.

Prompt: It's a rainy day on the isles -- an absolute downpour! Where did the storm catch your centaur? What were they doing, and what happens now that they're caught in the storm?

The rain didn't look like it would be letting up anytime soon. It only seemed to be teeming down harder and heavier as time passed. Taliesin sighed from the dense bower he had taken refuge in. Just as he'd finally started to come up with song ideas for the upcoming celebration with his herd, the rain had started, washing all the ideas away. How was he supposed to get inspiration now?

Rain dripped steadily from the leafy canopy in front of his face, landing in a puddle at his feet. Drip, drip, drip… Very rhythmic, actually. Taliesin nodded his head in time with the drips of water, then started humming a little tune. He tapped out the beat with a hoof and began to sing whatever came to mind. Before too long he was singing more confidently, the words coming freely, bobbing his head and tapping his hoof, a smile on his face. Still singing, he danced out into the downpour, frolicking in the rain as he perfected the song for the celebration.

He didn't care about getting wet – the storm had been more of a help than he had anticipated. Fancy that.

Anything Else? Thank you for this opportunity to win a 'taur! I'm game for all RP with him!

I'm Inspired to Write!

Preference Order: Purple Male Centaur, Pink Female Elaphotaur, Purple Female Centaur

Personality:
On the positive side Arhys could be said to be determined, protective, supportive and steadfast. He was a kind-hearted young stallion through and through, with something of a hero complex. On the not so positive side, he lacked the strength and intelligence of his peers, had a short temper, and his head was often firmly in the clouds. In his own mind, he was a great hero. In reality, not so much.

History:
Growing up without a father, and with a mother who wasn't alright in the head, was difficult to say the least. Especially when said father had been a great warrior and a hero who had died whilst protecting members of the herd from foreign attack. At least, these were the tales his heartbroken mother would often tell, when she was in what passed for her right mind, when she recognised her offspring at all. The young stallion would listen to these tales with excitement and wonder. One day he would be a hero too, just like his father. But to do so, Arhys had awfully large hoofprints to follow in, and he did his damnedest to try. One day, he too would join the ranks of the herd's warriors, maybe even one day the elite guard, just like Him.

He wasn't as fast, or as strong, or even as bright as some of the others in the herd. A fact that was crystal clear when he joined the herd's soldiers in training. But none could deny or doubt that the young stallion had heart. And eventually he proved his worth, and was accepted into their ranks. Maybe now he could be a hero like his sire. Maybe now his mother would recognise and be proud of him.

Prompt- It's a rainy day on the isles -- an absolute downpour! Where did the storm catch your centaur? What were they doing, and what happens now that they're caught in the storm?

Well, he had done it. Finally. After many months of drills and practice and training on his own, he had finally passed. He had made it through the Trials, and he could now be considered one of the herd's soldiers. It was something.

Sure, he had barely scraped by, but it was still something, right? He would just have to continue to strive, to work hard, to do everything required of him and more. And one day, one day, if he was lucky enough, he just might be able to be considered a hero. Just like his Father.

And that, that was what had led to this. To him being caught in the worst downpour he had seen since he was just a wee colt.

He knew he was fortunate enough to pass the Trial, but he had also heard the sniggers and jeers. The whispers about how he was only passed this time because the elders had felt sorry for him. That he actually wasn't good enough. That they hoped this would knock some sense into him ,"to make him give up on his ridiculous notions."

He would show them. He would not only not give, but he would succeed. He would train longer and harder and not only be an adequate soldier, he would become one of the best. That was why he had snuck away from the main herd grounds, into the forest. To a special place where he could drill and practice and train with no one the wiser. He could work hard and mess up if he needed, and none would mock or say what could anyone expect from him. He could get better, be faster and perhaps get just a little stronger.

But then the rain came. At first, it was no big deal. So what if it was a little heavy. He could still focus and push through. That in mind, he tied back his hair with a thick leather thong, making sure it would stay out of his eyes. It was only a little rain. Nothing to make a fuss over.

But then it worsened, pelting his hands and making it all but impossible to maintain a grip on his sword, and lowering the visiblity so he couldn't see but a few inches beyond his nose. Maybe now this wasn't the greatest of times to be out and about practicing. Maybe he should seek shelter. Not for long. Just long enough for the rain to lighten enough to see, and to be able to hold the sword without potentially hurting himself.

Perhaps he could rest for a moment. But he wouldn't give up. No. he would become better, and stronger and faster. He would show them all. He was his Father's son, and he would be a hero. Just like him.

Anything Else?

I'm Inspired to Write!
Preference Order: Purple Female Centaur, Pink Female Elaphotaur, Purple Male Centaur
Personality: Eulalia Temenos, Lia to those in her inner circles, is an absolute sweetheart who also happened to never grow out of her wild child, spitfire phase. Always eager to help and more than willing to fight for the safety and protection of those around her, Lia tends to wear her heart on her sleeve and strives for honesty and understanding in her comings and goings. She's not one to hold back and has a wellspring of energy that she uses for work, play, and expressing herself. While she may carry herself with utmost honesty, one can be assured that anything expressed to her in confidence will go with her to her grave. There's enough no-nonsense and fieriness to keep Lia from being totally saccharine, while her social graces and compassion smooth out her rougher edges.

History: Eulalia was a squirrely, energetic youngster. If she wasn't underhoof trying to see what people were doing or if she could help, she seemed to be off getting into trouble, alone or with some playmates. A handful by any metric, she shadowed various adults in her herd's village and found a fair fit with the resident herbalist and medic after a time. There was always something to do and so very much to learn; plenty enough to divert her from mischief and towards making something of herself. Her mentor also appreciated that she wasn't squeamish about helping to tend injuries or illness nor did she skirt away from the odd combative patient that would come in.

After a number of years of dedicated apprenticeship, Lia's been told that she could set out on her own if she wanted, maybe branching off from her natal herd to bring her knowledge and skills wherever else she may be needed.

Prompt: It's a rainy day on the isles -- an absolute downpour! Where did the storm catch your centaur? What were they doing, and what happens now that they're caught in the storm?

Eulalia slowly made her way back home, after having left in the wee hours of them morning to deliver a few parcels for her mentor to a couple of the nearer herds. The business was legitimate, but she also had an inkling that it was also to get her talking to their neighbors and seeing if any leapt out at her as prospective places for her to offer her service as a fully fledged herbalist and medic. The first delivery went off without a hitch and she had a good chat with a few of the residents there. Things had sort of taken a turn with the second delivery. The second herd was much more nomadic and hadn't been at the expected meeting point, though she did find them. The people were more insular than her previous stop so it took a bit more doing to find who she needed to, plus she was supposed to pick something up to bring back to her mentor. Turned out they didn't have what she was needing to get and it'd be a number of days before they swung by the area to collect the items in the first place. After some more talking, she got a ballpark of where they would be and agreed to meet them there.

With that being a bit of a bust, she had turned around and started on her way back. Along the path, she heard someone desperately calling out for help. Eulalia rushed over to investigate and found a young centaur, not quite into their adolescence, in clear distress, pacing outside of a tiny remote cottage. Through gasping tears they told her that they thought their grandmother was dying, that it was just the two of them, that they didn't know what to do. Lia's heart ached for them and offered to help, to see if there was anything she could do. The very slight, very elderly lady inside was laying in bed. Lia gently greeted her, introduced herself, and explained that their grandkid brought her over to check her out, if that was okay. She was doing her best to try to soothe the shaking pre-teen, but from the look and sound of her, there was no sign of illness, no injury. It appeared that it simply had come to be the matriarch's time. Lia had assured the younger taur that she would stay until the time came, that, because it wouldn't be long from the look of it, they should be there for their grandmother. They could talk to her if they felt up to it, or simply hold her hand. They weren't alone in this, she had assured them. She'd do what they'd need her to but there wasn't anything she could do for their grandmother, other than help make sure she's comfortable. There hadn't been much talking after that. The herbalist kept back, not wanting to intrude in such an intensely personal event. Within a couple of hours, the matriarch passed peacefully, her grand (or maybe great-grand) kid remained by her side the whole time.

Lia let the youngster cry themselves out, never pressing or rushing. She asked them what they wanted to do. Would they like her to bundle their grandmother up respectfully, do they want to do so themselves? Did they want to stay here while she went to the nearer herd village and getting some help for taking care of their grandma, if they had any rituals they wanted to adhere to? Did they want to go to the village too? The tween centaur was too young to be left on their own. The herbalist got the feeling that it really had been just the two of them. After some gentle back and forth, they wanted her to carefully wrap up their grandma, they wanted her to look pretty but didn't want to stay here alone while Lia went to get help. They wanted help burying her. They didn't want to be alone but didn't want to abandon their home. Lia assured she'd help them get taken care of. The kiddo picked out some nice things for their grandmother to wear, to have tucked with her, some flowers from the garden they kept. They went outside while Lia carefully wrapped the woman and left her inside. The kiddo had grabbed a few things and was ready to leave. After barring the door, the pair trekked to the village. After some words with the leaders, advocating for the youngster and telling what went on, she got an agreement set up with them that the kiddo could stay with them, that a few able bodied folks would go out and observe the proper rituals, that while the youngster stayed with them, their family cottage would remain theirs and they could move back when they felt ready to do so. Thanking the leaders, Lia exchanged farewells and hugs with the young taur. "You'll be taken good care of here. It's scary and uncertain right now, but everything will be okay. I swing through here occasionally, so I can check in on you, if you'd like."

It was a rough parting but again she was on her way. The skies had darkened from heavy, dense storm clouds. She wanted to be home so she pressed onward. The roiling, rumbling of thunder grew and before she had much time to duck into cover sheets of rain began pattering heavily down upon her. She had paused, staring up at the sky, already soaked to the bone. Her mind swam with the events of her day and her heart felt so heavy. She didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the situation. It felt as though there was a snarl in her chest. It didn't feel as though she had it in here to do either in that moment, so she opted to do what she felt she could do to work things out. She'd run, she'd jump, she'd dance, she'd move her body in whatever way felt right. Her pace was quick as she leapt, spun, twisted, kicked, reached, and maneuvered herself down the path. The rain didn't bother her. If anything, it kept her cool in all her exertions. By the time she reached the last rise overlooking her home village, her breaths were ragged but now, looking down at the firelights below, down at the familiar shapes of the homes, she felt better. Her day had been long and hard, but in this moment she felt right as rain.

Anything Else? A good deal of her characterization is in her very name: Eulalia (sweetly speaking); Temenos (a temple enclosure; a sacred circle wherein one can be oneself without fear).
Lia lowkey gets a kick out of playfully needling more brooding, grumpy sorts, even if it's usually a ploy to get them to open up and see what's the cause of their emotional constipation. She's not afraid of anger, understands grief, knows how to handle stress and frustration, and if it's just for appearances sake...then she may well roast them, lovingly of course.
Her hobbies/likes include dancing, music, sparring, helping folks express themselves, and flower arranging.
Thank y'all for this event!

Thank you everyone who participated! We honestly wish we had more Centaurs to give out, and absolutely loved all your entries. Narrowing down just one winner was incredibly difficult, and we hope you all keep your concepts or quest for them -- you never know what meddling spirit might grant your wish!

(Should Uta make a Quest Thread? Maybe so if people would like that!)

However, Cheri and I finally settled on a winning entry. Congratulations Avid!! Your entry was inspired! So many details and we had fun envisioning the story and what her life might be like! We can't wait to see how she grows from here!
