Yes, I am very strict. But, notice the roleplaying quality.
Mekryd, think about who will be crew and what their duties will be. I can tell you from first hand experience that you CANNOT run a GGN by yourself. Someone must monitor forums, consider new recruits, find new storylines to keep things interesting, and enforce the rules. There's more that will probably come up depending on the guild, but that's the gist of it.
Once you have those, then brainstorm about roleplay topics and such. Have everything in the guild structurally done, neat, tidy, and presentable before you do the bulk of your recruiting.

3nodding All sensible, sound good. So, instigaters (IC), enforcers, monitors, recruiters... Right. Thanks!

As for roleplay ideas, I have a few. It depends on what you want. Something daring? Action packed? Romantic? Fun and bubbly? What I did with my guild is I made an entire world as opposed to just an area. It's very expansive. This allows for a variety of settings and storylines to take place while still allowing interactivity between each seperate storyline which makes one greater story as a whole. However, I have found that in order for something like that to work, it takes a lot of people with a lot of different characters. You make the world, then you have to fill it up with inhabitants. I also allowed both technology and magic. It's like modern fantasy almost.

The general idea was that I/we would just provide a general continent area, and had members fill in the gaps with topics (regulated by someone, of course. >_>)

well... make sure you find someone you trust well enough to look after the guild in case you're not on, and to help with everything it helps a lot 3nodding
@tramar- true, the roleplaying quality is really good... imo, i think being too strict can sometimes limit the people who are willing to join the guild sweatdrop

And don't be afrait to make things a little bit complicated. You seem like the type who likes to simplify things.

I've grown to be more minimalist over the past few years. >_>; The most I'd do is perhaps put a little spin onto things. I'd be really strict on RPing, but the site I came from before this was really elitist, and thus... sort of died.

Tramar And don't be afrait to make things a little bit complicated. You seem like the type who likes to simplify things. true... but there isn't anything wrong with that is there? wink though, i generally do that so it's easier to work with more people not everyone likes to spend half an hour on each post trying to make it perfect xd (and i just don't have the time to make everything complicated. Trying to keep track of it myself takes a lot of time and effort that I just don't have) though, i don't really have anything against making things complicated either

I limited it on purpose. Because I only want skilled roleplayers who are dedicated to join. If someone cannot handle that, then they don't belong in my guild.

Eh... my opinion would be that it gets very difficult to start off with a large number of different settings... I think that a better way to go about it might be to start with one setting at first, and then as that RP becomes more active more and more forums are introduced. Like, starting off with a city and then going off into a forest, then a mountain range, then whatever comes next.
But, that's just my opinion.
