He felt his stomach churn as he watched the animal fall, but knew he couldn't turn away. Soon enough, his sister spun and he nodded with a meek smile in return.
The hard part was over, and it was important he offer his support to his sister.
"S-should we go grab it?"

His suggestion made her grin grow, and she nodded eagerly, "Yes, of course. Let's go make sure it was a clean kill."
As she raced around the pond, she approached the fallen creature and smiled with satisfaction. It was clean indeed, and a quick check confirmed the animal was not suffering. Secretly, she was happy for that because she was sure Yonas would struggle with what would be required.
Turning back toward him, she nodded once more, "Let's get this up and back to camp. We'll have a great meal tonight!"

Approaching behind her, he moved closer and was grateful the creature was not in pain. Moving to pick it up (as he had done in the past), he slung it around his shoulders and turned back to his sister.
It was just a meal, it wasn't an animal. Just a meal needing to get home so they can use all of it's parts.
"L-l-lead the w-way."

As they went back toward the camp, Maizah felt her body humming with excitement. Every time she went on a hunt, her confidence continued to grow. She knew this was her role, her contribution to her tribe and family. Turning toward her brother, she smiled at him again.
At least she could protect him, even if he didn't want to go down the hunting path.

He was glad to drop off the carcass at the camp, stepping back and trying not to show his discomfort. He gave his sister room to get to work, pulling out his water and swallowing large gulps to calm his heart. Deep down, he knew this wasn't for him, but being pressured to follow the path of his tribe made it hard to finally decide what to do.
There was still time, but only so much until he needed to come to that conclusion.
